Renu Literary Culture Exhibition reception Ajmer

Shri Dipak Chakravarty, MD, NRL inaugurating the NRL Conference Hall at the VKICआई.

Shri Dipak Chakravarty, MD, NRL inaugurating the NRL Conference Hall at the VKICश्री ङोवाल ने कहा कि राष्ट्र एक निरन्तर संकल्पना है जिसमें अतीत के अनुभव एवं वर्तमान की परिस्थितियों पर विचार करते हुए भावी पीढ़ी का हित समाहित होता हैं ।

Book Release : The Main Ceremonies of the Khasi

About Book :
Main Ceremonies of the Khasi cover 1st 4th From the abode of the clouds, where the famed Khasi community lives, is heard a prayer during the naming ceremony of a new born. It invokes the Almighty to bless the child not only with good health and fortune but integrity and honour; to guide its life by the tenets laid down from time immemorial based on the Truth-
  •  Komai lo ko Hok - Earn righteousness - walk on the path of truth and think and do only what is good and just, fair and correct
  •  Tip Briew Tip Blei - Know Man Know God - only when one understands oneself and one's fellow beings and respects and loves them will one understand Divinity
  •  Tip Kur Tip Kha - Know your kith, know your kin - to know members of one's maternal and paternal side to enhance social bonding.
Thus goes a prayer during the marriage ceremony,

  •  Turn to Thee A Wei, 0 God, Lord and Master, Creator and Dispenser! Be with this couple, in the light and in the shade, in their speech and in their thought, in their actions and reactions, so that they may live as they should- respecting man and revering God...
So also do the clansmen pray to the departed,

  •  Have no longings and regrets..tout go in peace to God as willed by Him..
Focusing on the three important stages of an individual's life -the naming, marriage and death ceremonies - The Main Ceremonies of the Khasi introduces us to the rich cultural life of the Khasi community. It not only gives details of the ceremonies associated with the Khasi life but also reflects their life's philosophy and social relationships.

Environmental friendly “Plastic Roads” in Vivekanandapuram

Vasudeoji, Secretary VK Nardep - pouring plastic wasteVivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari has adopted the new environmentally friendly technology of “Plastic Roads”. Of over 3.5 km of roads of Vivekanandapuram campus – the Head-Quarter of Vivekananda Kendra at Kanyakumari - about 1 km is now “Plastic Road".
Shredded plastic waste for use in road buildingPlastic roads are constructed using the waste plastic in the conventional Tar Road.  Plastic is environmentally hazardous because it is non-bio-degradable i.e. it cannot be broken down into its components. Such is the strength of its chemical bonding. This permanence is a threat to nature. A novel initiative by Dr. R. Vasudevan of Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai has shown a solution to this problem by using such plastic wastes in Road Construction. Experiments and experience have proved that it increases the durability of the roads by years and also helps in disposing the waste in a useful way. This technology is being accepted and adopted in different parts of India and world, albeit slowly.  The details of the technology can be read on http://pmgsy.nic.in/circulars/GPW.htm.

Students Benefited From Career CounsellingIn Every Schools a very similar responds were seen in terms ofstudent curiosity about the career counselling. It was observed that students of our state are really in need of such exposure. It is not just Medical and Engineering where one can shine. But there are numbers of other courses that one can choose. The speciality of the workshop was that students were guided on “HOW TO CHOOSE WHAT CAREER”, In Order to Success in any course one need to indentify one’s own APTITUDE, TYPE OF PERSONALITY, INTELLIGENT LEVEL AND FIELD OF INTEREST. Identifying these aspects makes the chosen subject very easy to grasp and understand thus resulting excellent output. According to Dr. Janatius Director, centre for counselling and Guidance (STC) people remain unemployed because of mismatch of their educational course with own Aptitude and interest. He further said, even if a person is successful in securing a high profile job but if it is not of his liking and aptitude
his life would be in disaster. He won’t be living satisfied and happy life; instead he would be wasting his real talent and abilities. Sri Sadiq Basha HOD of English STC, has guided the students about theavailability of different courses with their institution in different parts India. The whole programme was coordinated by Sri Jahang Ajang an Educational Counsellor and karyakartas of Arun Jyoti.
As a coordinator and budding Educational Counsellor I would like to appeal every Educational Institutions and those likeminded people to encourage such activities. It is due to lack of educational guidance that there are lots of educated unemployed youths in Arunachal Pradesh.

Butterfly Metamphor and Sustainable Development

Greetings from Vivekananda Kendra - nardep!
Butterfly Metamphor and Sustainable DevelopmentThis month newsletter brings you a view on how the actual change in the society towards sustainable development takes place. Evolutionary Biologist Elisabet Sahtouris explains this through the metaphor of how a butterfly emerges from the caterpillar. This is an excerpt from her famous book "Earth Dance".
We have two happy features in this newsletter. One is the announcement of 'societal innovation award' by NRDC (National Research Development Corporation) being awarded to Dr. Kamalasannan Pillai our senior scientist. He is popularly known as Dr."Azolla" Pillai because of his wonderful work in propagating Azolla as a bio-feed for cattle through the cost-effective NARDEP backyard cultivation technology. There is a brief feature on the work of Dr. Pillai in this newsletter. We take this opportunity to make this technology flower into a people's movement for the marginal livestock farmers of this country and hopefully those is all developing countries.

Butterfly Metamphor and Sustainable DevelopmentThe next happy feature is the work in Murugan Kuntram - a small hillock in the southernmost part of Kanyakuamri - where VK-nardep has successully constructed a beautiful rainwater harvesting/management structure in the form of a temple tank. This has been achieved with the assistance of Sri.R.G.Keswani and the active participation of local community.Tradition, Technology and Social networking all have come together for this eco-achievement. This is a replicable model for many parts of Tamil Nadu. And this can also bring a revolutionary change in the water harvesting landscape of the state. Speaking of social networking Our Siddha doctor Dr.Ganapathi is in facebook now. His facebook inputs are valuable insights into the world of Siddha healing and good living. You will find the link in this newsletter.

Butterfly Metamphor and Sustainable DevelopmentIn the wisdom section we have a cellular biologist, a spiritual feminist and Swami Vivekananda talking about the centrality of oneness to our visions and actions. Thus we have Ursula Goodenough a cellular biologist speaking of how " the sacredness of life, of the astonishing complexity of cells and organisms, of the vast lengths of time" invoke in us "religious emotions", Swami Vivekananda speaking of how "happiness belongs to him who knows this oneness, who knows he is one with this universe" and Gangaji a spiritual feminist speaks of all life forms as "a collective cosmic story", "a teeming theater of lifeforms appearing and disappearing" while beyond this dance of names and forms Life is always there.

You can enjoy all these by clicking here... http://www.vknardep.org We wish you all a happy eco-spiritual experience in reading our newsletter.
