Free Operation Camp, Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh

The Free Operation Camp organized by Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti in collaboration with Remote Area Medical Corp., U.S.A. and District Administration, East Siang concluded successfully on 12th Feb’11 at Pasighat General Hospital, Pasighat. Within these six days the team successfully operated 50 patients. 22 cholecysectomies, 8 appendectomies, 9 hernia repairs, 6 lumps&cysts, 4 hysterectomies and 1 D&C were done in the camp.



62 patients were done there Video Endoscopies free of cost. Out of them 57 were Gastroscopies, 4 were Colonoscopies and 1 was Sigmoidoscopy. One NRI medicine specialist did general check-up and 132 patients availed the facility. The Gynecologist from abroad also checked-up 43 female patients.

Patients from East Siang, West Siang, Upper Siang, Lower Dibang Valley, Upper Subansiri, Anjaw and Tirap attended the camp and got the benefit. Even people from remote areas like Tuting, Menchukha and Taliha registered their names and were operated.

All the staff and Doctors of General Hospital Pasighat were very supportive throughout the camp and were totally involved. The NRI team were very happy and inspired and wish to visit this place again for this kind of humanitarian service.

Online Class, Pune to Tinsukia

Sri Satish Navale, newly joined teacher of Tinsukia VKV, arranged online class for students of class XI on 8 Feb, Saraswati Puja Diwas. Even though he is visually challenged, that does not hamper his enthusiasm to work.

He has completed his M.A., M.Ed and M.Phil. Now he is doing his research in integrating the educational system of blind people with normal.

Sri Satish Navale is a good counselor for students, educationist, computer teacher and well versed in Indian History.

विवेकानंदा केंद्र कन्याकुमारी सखा पटना द्वारा २७-०१-११ को दिनकर गोलम्बर ,राजेंद्र नगर पटना में विवेक सन्देश का आयोजित किया गया | जिसके अंतर्गत स्वामी विवेकानंदा के जीवन पर आधारित प्रदर्शनी जिसमे उनके जीवन और संदेशो को दर्शाया गया था एवं साहित्य विक्रय का प्रदर्शन भी किया गया | विवेक सन्देश के लिया निशुल्क पोस्टकार्ड की व्यवस्था की गयी थी,जसमे स्वामी विवेकानंदा के विचारो को मित्र या सम्बन्धियों तक पहुँचाने के लिए ,जनता को आवाहन किया गया |

विवेक सन्देश के स आयोजन लोगो ने बाद चद्जर भाग लिए पर्थ ११ बजे से प्रारंभ हो कर सयम७ बजे तक लोगो के और युवाओं के भीड़ रहे | कार्यक्रम का उद्घाटन कुम्हरार क्षत्र के MLA श्री अरुण सिन्हा ने किया के द्वारा दीप प्रजवालन कर किया गया |उन्होंने बताया की जैसे कहा जाता है के आजकल के युवों में पधान के आदत नहीं है पर यहाँ पर तो युवाओं के क़तर लगी हुई है |कार्यक्रम के दौरन १० कार्यकर्ता उपस्थित रहे साथ ही साथ वरिस्थों कार्यकर्त्ताओं का आना जाने रहा |कुल १६० पोस्टकार्ड लखे गए थाट ८००-९०० लोगो ने साहित्य और प्रदर्शनी का अवलकन किया |

Celebration of Swami Vivekananda Return to Paramakudi

115th year of Swami Vivekananda’s Triumphal Return from West has been celebrated by Vivekananda Kendra in association with Nanal Spoken English on January 30 Sunday - 2011.

A quiz programme was organised for School and College Students which was attend over 400. Retired H.M. of Ayira Vaisya Hr. Sec. School, B.K.Mani presided over the function. Municipal councillor of 29 th Ward Smt. Punithavathi, Incharge of Sri Ramakrishna Mandram attended and gave prizes to the winners.

that same day a huge procession with Swamiji’s picture went along the streets and reached kumaran padithurai where Swami Vivekananda gave his Paramakudi lecture. Vivekananda Kendra Ramnad district in-charge welcomed one and all. The Principal of Nanal Spoken English Centre Shri R. Suresh Kannan thanked every one.

विवेक सन्देश कार्यकम : खंडवा

विवेकानंद केंद्र खंडवा द्वारा २९ जनवरी, २०११ को विवेक सन्देश कार्यक्रम नगर के मुख्य चौक - घंटाघर पर आयोजित किया गया| खंडवा के नगर संयोजक श्री सुधाकर जोशी ने कहा की - स्वामी विवेकानंद के ओजस्वी विचारों की श्रृंखला में इसका आयोजन किया गया|

कार्यक्रम का उद्घाटन डी.पी. सी. (जिला परियोजना समन्वयक) संजीव मंडलोई ने किया, उन्होंने अपने उद्बोधन में जन साधारण से आह्वान किया की-आज हमें राष्ट्र को आगे के जाने के लिए स्वामी विएकानंद के विचारों की अत्यंत आवश्यकता है, आप आयें और स्वामीजी के साहित्य का वाचन करें, कार्यक्रम प्रात: ११ से सायं ७ बजे तक रहा ,इस दौरान नगर सह संयोजक- राजीव उपरीतजी,श्यामकांत देशपांडेजी,श्रीमती निर्मला देव, श्री के.एस.चौहान,श्रीमती सपना शर्मा,श्री नारायण अत्रे और १५ युवा कार्यकर्ताओं की चमू ने दिनभर कार्यक्रम की व्यवस्था और सञ्चालन किया|

आगंतुकों में खंडवा के गणमान्य लोगों में -नगर निगम अध्यक्ष- श्री अमर यादव,शासकीय कन्या महाविद्यालय के प्राचार्य - डॉक्टर श्रीराम परिहार, विधि महाविद्यालय के प्राचार्य-श्री ए. बी. श्रीवास्तवजी पधारे , कार्यक्रम में संस्कार वर्ग के बच्चों द्वारा देशभक्ति गीतों की प्रस्तुति दी गयी एवं युवाओं द्वारा प्रदर्शनी के दौरान स्वामी के उद्धरणों का वाचन किया गया| विवेक सन्देश के कार्यक्रम में १,३०० लोग चित्र प्रदर्शनी देखने आये और ३,४०२ रुपयों का साहित्य भी विक्रय हुआ|

Swami Vivekananda Jayanti & Republic Day Celebration at Rajkot

Vivekananda Jayanti & Republic Day Celebration at RajkotVivekananda Kendra's Rajkot (Gujarat) Branch celebrated Swami Vivekananda Jayanti & 62nd Republic Day on 26th January, 2011. This year The Republic Day coincided with Swamiji’s birthday in the Indian Calendar and the day was celebrated emphasizing the significance of both.

More then 100 persons participated in the programme and took oath to work for nation. After flag hosting programme, Kendra Karyakarta played a purposeful games with all persons and as a result of the programme, a Yog Varga for women started in evening with presence of 30 women. Kendra has further programmes in upcoming days.

Activity Report of Vedic Vision Foundation : January 2011

CLEEBRATION OF REPUBLIC DAY


This year The Republic Day coincided with Swamiji’s birthday in the Indian Calendar and the day was celebrated emphasizing the significance of both. Respected Lakshmi Didi hoisted the flag. After the Rashtra Geet the emphasis shifted to Swamiji.

Samuhik BhojanamFirstly to acquaint the gathering, which included Sishuvihar children, their family members, a number of yoga participants and our regular team of well wishers, with Swamiji’s life ,a short documentary on Swami Vivekananda’s life was shown. Those who had not seen the Vishwa Bhanu Exhibition were asked to visit the same during the small tea break that followed. After this the elders were asked to pick up small chits containing thoughts of Swamiji, contemplate on it and speak a few words. This was appreciated by many of the participants who felt that the thoughts they chose exactly fitted what they wanted for themselves. The finale was a grand lunch where the variety of dishes were brought by the participants.. The day was a grand success



SPIRITUAL RETREAT


Swamiji  discussing with devoteesA two days’ Spiritual Retreat (21 & 22 JANUARY 2011) was conducted with Srimad Swami Nirmalanandagiriji as the Acharya. This was more of an Adhyatmic Study class on the theme “Pravritti and Nivritti” based on Bhagavad Gita. From the morning of 21st to evening of 22nd devotees got the golden opportunity to be with Swamiji. There were five lecture sessions each day from morning 7:00am to night 9:30pm, with short breaks for breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner. After dinner usually a question answer session was kept so that devotees could get their doubts cleared. On the 22nd evening the retreat ended with Guru dakshina. About hundred devotees attended. All of them preferred to stay in the campus making it a residential retreat and giving us the confidence to organize more in depth studies of this kind in future.



SWAMI VIVEKANANDA JAYANTHI CELEBRATION


A whole day programme was kept on the 29 January 2011. The morning session was used to conduct Patriotic Group Song and Folk Group Song competitions. Six schools participated. A total of 80 children took part.

Sri Sai Vidyaniketan winners of folk song competition with their trophyIn the public programme organized after lunch Prof. Radhakrishnan from Palakad, who has started a vibrant youth forum called Vivekananda Darsanika Samajam and well versed in Swamiji’s literature was invited as the Chief Guest. Dr N,M. Vijayan, Kendra’s long standing well-wisher, presided. The day was also celebrated as the Annual Day of our Sandeepani Sishuvihar. Apart from the main speeches there was also a cultural show by the children of Sandeepani Sishuvihar and Samskar varga. There was a beautiful yoga Demonstration by about twenty two children from HDPY School which won much appreciation.

Two rolling shields were kept for the best school in patriotic song and folk song. The shield for the Patriotic Song was claimed by the H.D.P.Y. Public school and the one for the Folk Song went to Sri Sai Vidya Niketan. Nine meritorious children were given scholarships on the occasion.

VKIC Sanman to Kum Aningiu Meriam

The Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture (VKIC) Sanman 2011 was conferred on Kum Aningiu Meriam, vice president of Zeliangrong Mipui of Nagaland on the occasion of foundation day of the institute held at Guwahati on January 31.

The annual award is given for significant contribution to the society in the field of preservation, protection and advancement of traditional culture.

Meriam received the award from eminent journalist Radhika Mohan Bhagawati who was present as the chief guest of the programme. Dipok Kumar Borthakur, chairman, VKIC delivered the welcome address describing the objectives of the programme.

Dinesh Chandra Baroowa, director of the research council of the institute described about the significance of the foundation day and the VKIC Sanmaan. The award consists of a citation, a plaque and a cash award of Rs 10,000, a statement mentioned.

In her acceptance speech, Meriam said that the award given to her is a recognition of the work collectively done by different organisations in the most volatile and disturbed situation in Nagaland. This award is also an honour to all such workers who are involved in course of sustaining the socio-cultural fabric of the Zeliangrong Naga community.

Anandalaya : Daily 2 places going on with 90 students and 4 teachers.

Annadhanm : Every Sundays – average 150 children

Bhajan Sandhya : Every Week Anandalaya Children conducting Bhajans at 3 temples and every Saturday at Kendra.

Samartha Bharat Parva ( 25th December 2010 to 27.01.2011) & Vivekananda Jayanti

On January 1st we observed the Kalpataru Diwas. On January 3rd, 11th and 27th, organized Viveka Sandesha – Life and message of Swami Vivekananda in R T Nagar, Vijaya Nagar and Sultanpalya. Nearly 2000 people came and saw the exhibition.

On 7th January 2011, Deepa Pooja was conducted at Shiva Temple, Sultanpalya . 48 people attended the pooja. On 21st January 2011, at Kendra 16 mahilas took part in the pooja.

On 12th January, Swami Vivekananda Jayanti celebrated at Kendra. Swami Gangadharanji presides the program and Smt. Sabita Rao, Retd. Professor talk on the life and message of Swami Vivekananda. Anandalaya boys and girls given some cultural events. 200 people attended the celebration. Same Day , we celebrated Vivekananda Jayanthi at Sheshadripuram college also. Sri Raghu, Welwisher of Vivekananda Kendra was the main speaker. 160people attended the celebration.

On 14th January, Inter school patriotic song, Rangoli, Quiz on Ramayana and Mahabharat and Drama based on Incidents from Life of Swami Vivekananda organized at Kendra. 480 students from 12 schools and 2 colleges participated.

On 16th January, Inter school Kho-Kho competition organized. Sri Kumar Head Master, inuagarated the match. 10 teams from 8 schools participated in this event.

On 23rd Swami Vivekananda Jayanthi celebrated at Viveka Nagar Vistar. 51 people attended, Sri Kanakaraju spoke on Swami Vivekananda in Tamil.

In Vidyranyapura Vistar we celebrated Vivekananda Jayanti on 26th. Dr. T Gopal, was the chief guest. 68 people attended the celebration. Same day there was a Karma Yoga Shloka Sangraha competition. 19 students chanted the shlokas.

Bharat Matha Pooja performed on 26th January. 73 mahilas chanted Vishnu Sahasranama and Lalita Sahasranama shlokas on that day, at the end all offered flowers to Bharath Matha.

Swadhya Examination : On29th January, 50 students from Lalbahabur Shastry Govt College wrote the examination on Swamiji’s life and message.

Republic Day celebrated on 26th, Dr. K C Mishra, Principal of M B A College spoke on the Day.

Free Computer Class : 9 students taking training.

4 cycles given to students. Educational aid distributed to 75 students.

VELGA VELGAVEY YOUTH CAMP REPORT [22nd TO 26th JANUARY 2011]

Velga Velgavey Held at Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College, Madurai (22nd to 26th January 2011)



The shibir was inaugurated on 22nd January by Swami Kamalatmanandaji, President, Ramakrishna Math, Madurai. Susri Nivedita Bhide, Vice President, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dr R Dinakaran, Chairman of the State Committee and Sri Ananda Amritam of Anantha Metals were also present and spoke on the occasion.

The participants were organized into 34 groups, 20 for girls and 14 for boys. Groups are named after saints, patriots, artists andscientists from Tamilnadu. Two groups are combined into a Mandal. The mandals are names after the Pilgrim Centers of Tamilnadu. Whole shibir was managed by a team of 250 volunteers.

On 26th January, after the oath taking, valedictory function was held. Dr R Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Govt. Of India was the Chief Guest.
