79th Independence Day Celebration at VKV Vallioor

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu Prant, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Vallioor (VKV-Vallioor), celebrated the 79th Independence Day on 15th August 2025 at 9:30 a.m. in the school premises with the participation of 725 students and staff. The programme was presided over by Shri S.K. Subramanianji, Correspondent of the school, with Rtn. Dr. T. Selvendiran, President of Rotary Club of Vallioor Central, as the Chief Guest, and Shri Ayyappanji, Secretary of Vivekananda Kendra Rural Development Programme & Tamil Nadu Prant Sah Sangathak, as the Special Guest.

The celebration commenced with Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by a prayer song. Dr. Selvendiran unfurled the National Flag, after which the students rendered a flag song. A welcome address was delivered by Kum. Sebika of Class IX. Students then presented a mass drill and a graceful Bharatanatyam performance. Inspiring speeches on the significance of Independence Day were delivered by Dr. Selvendiran and Shri Ayyappanji.

The programme also included a speech on freedom fighters by Kum. Mushkan Kumari of Class VII, as well as vibrant cultural displays such as patriotic dance, Tamil drama, pyramid formation, special property dance, hoops, and martial arts demonstrations like silambam and karate.

Prizes were distributed to the winners of the Zonal Level Sports conducted by the Tamil Nadu Sports Association.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Kum. Baby Varshini of Class XI, followed by the National Anthem and sweet distribution. The celebration was conducted in a grand and inspiring manner.

Classes begin at VKV Ramsing

A grand ceremony marked the commencement of academic classes and opening of hostel facilities at the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV)here in Upper Siang district on Monday.

The ceremony began with a traditional ‘bhumi pujan’, conducted by the Donyi Polo Yelam Kebang team, led by priest Takong Mingki, followed by a tree plantation drive within the school campus, organized by the Environment and Forest Department.

Addressing the gathering, Vivekananda Kendra all-India vice president Hanumantha Rao highlighted the longstanding association between VKVs and Arunachal Pradesh, dating back to the establishment of the first school in 1977. He said that VKVs have grown into premier educational institutions, “not only imparting academic knowledge but also instilling cultural values, patriotism, and a sense of responsibility among students.”He praised the relentless efforts of the VKV Trust to ensure holistic development of children in the state, and said that studying in a VKV is a matter of pride.

Rao lauded the deputy commissioner and his team, as well as local community leaders, for their unwavering dedication and efforts in making VKV Ramsing functional.

Sujatha Didi informed that VKV Ramsing is the 45th VKV established in Arunachal, “and marks the beginning of a new chapter in education for the region.” She emphasized the crucial role of good teachers in society and their importance in fostering holistic education.

MLA Alo Libang described the day as “historic and a dream come true” for the people of Upper Siang, especially for the residents of Ramsing. He expressed appreciation for all contributors, including the land donors from Rotgo Banggo, and BRO contractors, for their support in turning this vision into reality.

He recounted the initial challenges and his efforts to bring a VKV to Upper Siang to enhance the district’s educational landscape.

Deputy Commissioner Talo Jerang elaborated the steps taken by the district administration to make the school functional. He said that, although the infrastructure had been completed in 2017, it remained unused until a concerted effort was made over the past two months to operationalize it. “Through collective mobilization of resources and support from HoDs, community leaders, and well-wishers, the school is now ready to begin operation,” he said.

“Getting a premier VKV in our district is in itself a great achievement and a source of immense pride. We should all feel proud of this collective accomplishment,” Jerang said.

He informed that boys from Classes 3 and 5 will begin attending classes in Ramsing, and by October or November, the entire school, up to Class 10, will be shifted from its temporary location in Yingkiong to Ramsing.

“However, nursery to Class 2 will continue in Yingkiong for the time being,” he said.

The DC acknowledged the generous support from the local community, noting that 571 individuals contributed to the cause, and over 200 pieces of furniture were made from locally raised funds. The DC directed the DDSE to ensure monthly inspection and extend full logistic support to VKV Ramsing.

Vidyarambha Puja at VKV Kallubalu

Vidyarambha Pooja is a Beautiful ritual and a Hindu Tradition, Where toddlers are introduced to the world of knowledge.

Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Kallubalu Celebrated Vidyarambha Puja On 10th June 2022 Friday. The program was started with prayers and welcoming the parents, Guests and the toddler, and also the new admission students. Every student has attended the rituals of agnihotra along with their parents.

Later school distributed the slate chalk and reusable book with sketch pens to all the children and write "OM" on the plate of rice and on the slate.

The program was concluded with Shanti Mantra and ended with Prasada total attendance of 90.

VKV Dbr secured 2nd on World Earth Day

The Arun jyoti project of Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari has been running eight Poshan Kendra (Nutritional Centre) in some remote villages of Tirap and Longding districts of Arunachal Pradesh since 2018. The undernourished and malnourished children of these villages get nutritional food with some additional supplements in these centers. India Development and Relief Fund, USA is funding the program.  Since the lockdown because of Covid 19 outbreak, all the centers are closed. We were worried about the children and about their food supplements as all the children are poor. As it was not possible to call them to the centers as per protocol, we decided to distribute nutritious biscuits to the children. As it was not possible for us to reach to them because of lock down, we contacted all our Poshan Karyakartas and Local Karyakartas. We sent the biscuits to the villages and they collected and distributed to the children properly.

As the lock down got prolonged, we started getting news that there is scarcity of food grains and biscuits won’t be sufficient to feed those children. We then planned to send Rice and Musur Dal to the houses of every child enrolled in our Poshan Kendra, so that Khicidi can be prepared to feed them. We again contacted all our Karyakartas residing in the respective villages and have given them the responsibility to receive the food items sent by us and distribute them. We made two teams of Karyakartas for Tirap and Longding and they very dedicatedly distributed the items. We sent 1550 Kg Rice and 330 Kg Musur Dal to eight villages and each child got 5 kg of Rice and 1 Kg of Musur Dal. A total 310 enrolled children were benefitted. The detail report is as follows.

Because of lock down, it was really difficult to send the items to these remote villages, but the local transporters extended their help. Our Karyakartas informed the Chiefs of villages and other elders and involved them also in the program. In Khanu village the distribution program was arranged at the house of Sri Chingseng Wangham, The Chief of Khanu village. In all the villages, the distribution was very smooth. We instructed all our Karyakartas to avoid gatherings and to maintain physical distancing during the distribution of materials.

We would like to share one inspiring incident. Khanu village is 21 K.M. away from Wakka town. Our Karyakartas walked all the way to Wakka to collect the biscuits and returned carrying the heavy packets. Such was the level of dedication.

Activity report of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Kallubalu

14 students from VKV Kallubalu attended Samskara Varga Prashikhan Shibir in VK Mysore from 29th March to 1st April. On 1st April Bhoomi pooja was performed to construct Road cum rain water harvesting. Adaraneeya Lalita didi, Adaraneeya Gayathri  didi, Krishnamurthyji [Engineer] and staff were present.
From April 2nd to 12th  Adaraneeya Gayathri didi, Vivekananda  Kendra karyakartha taught Shlokas and prayers to the staff and students. From April 2nd to 12th Adaraniya Gayatri didi conducted workshop on Doll making for students and staff based on the theme Ramayana.  On 13th April on the occasion of Sri Rama navami , from 5:00 am to 6:00 pm Akhanda Ram Nam Japa was conducted.  Important episodes from Ramayana was exhibited by arranging the dolls.  On 14th April Dr. B R Ambedkar jayanthi was observed. On the same day from Pre-kg to class IX Parents–teachers meeting was held in our Vidyalaya. After the meeting  Annual result was announced. Progress reports were given to  the parents. 250 parents received the Progress reports.
From 15th April Personality Development Camp was started. Different activities are:

2. Learning on computer
3. Dance
4. Doll making
5. Mallakamba etc. 35 Students attending regularly.
Extra classes were conducted for selected students from class 8th , 9th  and 10th on  Mathematics. 10 students attended.  On 19th April, Adaraneeya Lalita didi and 5 teaches attended a day’s workshop at Priya didi’s, house Attibele. Topics : Lesson plan [enquiry method] and different activities in the class room. On 29th April Art and craft workshop was conducted in Government Higher Primary School Jalahalli, Bengaluru, by students and staff.  On 30th April Karnataka S S L C board announced the result through internet.

Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalayas Arunachal Pradesh Trust January Month Report

It is told that the Education which does not focus on the character building aspects of the students fails to produce desired citizens who will contribute to the wellness of the society. I have heard people quoting the example of the Great Wall of China in this context. When the ancient Chinese wanted to protect themselves they decided to construct the great wall which took substantial labors for years to complete.

They thought no one could climb it and attack them. But to the surprise of all the Chinese were invaded thrice during the first 100 years of its existence! And every time, the hordes of enemy infantry had no need of penetrating or climbing over the wall... because each time they bribed the guards and came through the door. They built the wall but forgot to build the character. The education should be character building which ensures peace and prosperity.

The just ended month witnessed number of activities. Majority of them were aimed to impart Value education so that the Students grow up with good character.

Conduct of Martipuja: It is said “If you want to destroy the civilization of a nation there are 3 ways to do so” They are destroying family structure, education & Lower their role models. For the destruction of the family structure, the best way is to undermine the role of the mother. The Matripuja, one of the most popular programs, was conducted to re-stress the role of Mother in one’s life. The students of Class X, who are completing the important stage in their life, perform the puja in which all the mothers of students studying in class X are invited. They perform ‘Padapuja’ and take the blessings of their mothers. The much awaited Programme by Students and Parents are conducted in 5 schools namely Vivek Vihar, Nirjuli, Kharsang, Itanagar Balijan. 229 mothers participated in the Programme. The program earned much appreciation from the parents who expressed deep happiness to present in the program which is rooted in the immortal traditions of our country. The program emanates deep feeling of motherhood and fosters filial duties among the students which act as a guiding light in the journey of life. The Matripuja in other 18 Secondary schools will be conducted in the month of February. Shri. Krishna Kumar & Shri. Unnikrishnan were present in all these schools.

Utsarg Samaroh:  One another Programme for Class X Students before the board examination is ‘Utsarg Samaroh’. The Samaroh is a three-day residential camp conducted with a theme “Gloriously March Forward” for the benefit of all the students studying in 22 Secondary schools of the State. Abhikshek  Dave, Yuvaveer, Chinmaya Yuva Kendra were the main resource persons in different venues  to focus the need to elevating oneself by bringing Transformation at different  levels namely Physical, Cultural, Intellectual, Emotional, & Spiritual Transformation. Ecstatic Moment for the VKVs of Arunachal Pradesh: It is a moment of great happiness for the VKVs of Arunachal Pradesh when four young VKVians brought laurels to India by standing third at the Taiwan International Science Fair which was held from January 24 to 29 at Taipei. VKV Nirjuli students Lishank Tasar (Class VII) and Tadar Parte (Class VIII), presented a “Study on Traditional House Architecture in Itanagar Capital Complex and to improve climatic responsive contemporary house” while VKV Jirdin students, Toyir Kamgo and Zarnie Lollen, (both class VIII students), made their presentation on “Impact of firewood collection on weather & Climate of Jirdin village, Aalo”.

153 projects were presented in the event which saw the participation of 513 young scientists from various countries. The four were awarded medal, citations and cash prize of 3200 dollars. The selection process was a tedious one with scrutiny of projects at districts and then at the state Level by State Council for Science and Technology, Department of Science and Technology and finally at National Children Science Congress held at Bangalore and Chandigarh, sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. Kudos to the students and the teacher guides!

Workshop for the Accountant and Clerk: A One day workshop for the accountant and the clerks was conducted in VKVAPT, Dibrugarh on 14th January 2016 in which 19 accountants and clerks from various VKVs attended. Mananeeya Sri D. Bhanudasjiji, General Secretary, Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari graced the occasion and enlighten the participants. Various sessions relating to Accounts, Store keeping, Systematic Filing system and other related works were taken by Sri Arun Raj Singh Shekhawatji, Administrative Officer, VKVAPT, Sri Arindam Bhattacharjee, Accounts Officer, Sri Sagar Lad, Internal Auditor, VKVAPT and Sri Maheshanji, Office In-Charge, VKVAPT.

Celebration of National Youth Day: The National Youth Day was celebrated with lots of enthusiasm in all the VKVs of Arunachal Pradesh. A large number of parents and well wishers attended the programs in which students presented well prepared cultural programs.

Celebration of Republic Day:  The VKVs of Arunachal Pradesh celebrated Republic Day with the usual patriotic fervor in the respective schools. In addition to this, School parade and band contingents were sent to the District level celebration ground which enhanced the grandeur of the celebration.

Deshbhakti Kavi Sammelan Held:  Like earlier years, VKV Kuporijo conducted Deshbhakti Kavi Sammelan on 28th January after the celebration of the 67th Republic Day of the country in order to infuse patriotic fervor and to nurture the creative impulses of the students. 350 poem lovers took part in the event wherein selected young poets not only from the host school but also from various schools namely Si-Donyi Public School, Abotani Middle School, Adarsh Public School, Govt. B. M. School, Govt. Sikarijo Sec. School, Vivekananda Public School, Govt. Lida Sec. School, Govt. H. S. School presented their mesmerizing self created poems.

Awareness programs regarding Junk Food: In response to the CBSE’s initiatives against Junk food, many VKVs conducted awareness programs during the month.VKV Kuporijo organized the awareness program in a larger scale in which teachers and Principal spoke to the students, Doctor was invited to take session in which students asked questions, conducted collage and poster making competition. VKV Itanagar, Nirjuli, Banderdewa, Jirdin and VKV Vivek Vihar conducted awareness program by inviting Resource persons and guidance by the teachers.

Dear sisters and brothers we are at the fag end of the session. There are many works to complete- like finalizing the records of CCE, the revision of the academic subjects, chalking out assignments and project works to give to students as their vacation activities, preparing the activity calendar for the next academic session etc. Do all these with utmost dedication. We need to have highest degree of excellence in all the activities that we undertake. We also need to keep up the excellent academic results. Work hard to achieve the set goals.

Eknathji Memorial Football and Inter VKV Volleyball Tournament: The just ended month has witnessed the much awaited event in the VKVs: Eknathji Memorial Football and Inter VKV Volleyball Tournament. Please find the details of the programme:-

Shri. Alokesh Boro of VKV- Nirjuli, Shri. Jaikishan Jaiswal of VKV Roing and Shri. Activities of Sneha Vardhini:-

Sneha Vardhini of Oyan and Nirjuli conducted 2 notable programmes during the month. I could attend both the programmes. The feedbacks of Sneha Vardhini members are encouraging as some of them said “We are able to contribute something to Nation Building Activities of Vivekananda Kendra. It has given a great confidence to all of us”. Smt.Nitumoni Baruah, the spouse of Sri.Ghanakant Baruah, VKV Oyan said that coming to the stage to present programme, going to many houses for inviting the mothers for the programme etc was an enriching experience for her and it gives a lot of confidence too, Smt. Anjani Nath wife of Sri. Jitendra Nath also expressed during an interaction in Nivedita Vihar that working in Oyan along with the team of Sneha Vardhini was a great experience.

Matrusammelan in Oyan: -Sneha Vardhini group organised a Matrusammelan on 23rdNovember inwhich70 mothers from the neighbourhood areas of VKV- Oyan participated. 4Hrs programme was entirely coordinated by Sneha Vardhini members. The mothers were enthusiastic and participated well in the programme.

Parenting workshop for parents in VKV Nirjuli: -The other programme was the parenting workshop at VKV Nirjuli on8th November. The parents of Class VI were invited for the programme. 72 couples attended the programme. Sri. Unnikrishnan, Education Officer, VKVAPT dealt with the topic of Good parenting and attended the queries of parents regarding parenting. I could address the parents for the importance of investing in the child through value education at home.

Bhumi Puja for VKCTE:  The Bhumi Puja ceremony for the new building of much cherished B.Ed college of Vivekananda Kendra took place on 24th November 2015 at VKV Nirjuli complex. Dr Joram Begiji, Shri. Rinchin Dorjeeji& Dr.Tejum Paduji, the Trustees of VKVAPT; Smt.Y.Ringu, School supporting Group Chairman, invited parents, Principals of VKVs in capital complex etc were present on the occasion.

The Bhumi Puja was conducted in the first column site and Man. Pravinji broke the coconut and all present, shoved concrete mixture to the first column of the building. The 34780 Sq.ft building is going to be an architectural marvel for the state. Let us invoke the blessing of Trinity for the timely completion of the project.

Visit of Col.Vinayak Tambekarji: Col. Vinayak Tambekarji visited VKVs Joram, Ziro, Amliang, Sunpura, Tafrogam and Kharsang during the month of November.  In all the schools Col. Tambekarji interacted with the students and the staff. The interactions were very lively as in response to many questions he shared many memorable experiences from his service tenure in the defence sector, highlighted on various opportunities in the defence service and motivated the students to join the armed forces. In his interaction with the staff he exhorted them for their discipline and hard labour.  He stressed that teaching  is a noble profession in pursuit of nation building and at par with the defense service or even more.

Educational Audit of VKV Yazali: Sri Arvind Gore and Smt. Sulabha didi visited VKV Yazali and had educational audit of the school. The audit encompassed the scrutiny and feedback on entire educational activities in the schools. Based on the audit, one day workshop was conducted for the teachers of VKV Yazali.

Visit of Well wishers and programs:  Members of Plus Foundation, Ahmednagar visited VKV Shergaon, Tawang, Amliang and Tafrogam. The team with a unique message   of “Jodo Jodo, Bharat Jodo” visited the above said schools and educated the students with the lecture session on Adolescent health for both boys and Girls, solar system, teaching Warli Paintings, Paper quilling art, conducting quiz and giving hands on practise for preparing science projects. The enthusiastic group of 21 members include practising doctors, business men, students and other professionals.

Inspire Training Programme :-  The ‘Inspire’ a unique programme to nurture the talents, started in the current academic session has added one more chapter by conducting workshops at all three nodal centres namely Nirjuli, Ziro & Roing  simultaneously from 17th November to 20th November 2015. Dr.Sucharita Gadre, Professor and Aakash Chowkase, Assistant professor, Km. Mrinmayee, School counsellor led the group. There were 13 resource persons from Jnana Probodhini, Pune who conducted the programs in groups in the three venues. Total 178 students participated in the programme. The inauguration of the camp in Roing was done by Shri. Basant Kumar Singh, Lecturer, DIET Roing.

Samidha in schools: Mananeeya Eknathji’s birthday (Sadhana Divas) was celebrated in all the schools as ‘Samidha’ programme as it marked the culmination of one year long Mananeeya Eknathji Janma Shati Parva. The schools celebrated the day with involving all the students, staff, School Supporting Group and well-wishers of the school. The speech on Man. Eknathji, Pondering on the works of Vivekananda Kendra, re- cap of the yearlong celebration and singing the song on Man. Eknathji, guided meditation on the need of having higher aims in each and every body’s life were some of the highlights of the program. As per the reports received from 8 VKVs and VKVAPT Dibrugarh total attendance of the program is 2034 people.

Celebration of Library Week: In order to promote reading habits of the students and to strengthen the school libraries, VKVs of Arunachal Pradesh started observing library week from the previous years. This year also the week was observed with many fold activities like Book review, Guest Lecture, Book donation drive, inauguration of wall magazine etc.

Glimpse of a Guest Lecture programme: -Guest lecture programme is getting good momentum in schools. The schools are making good efforts to involve parents, well wishers and bureaucrats to take session on the selected topics based on the need of the schools. One among is the Guest Lecture session conducted at VKV- Roing.  Sri. Ravi Dhawan IAS, DC Roing was the guest for the programme organized for the students’ of Class XI & XII on 7th November 2015 in which 73 students attended. The Hon’ble speaker dealt with the topics like the need of hard work, Ways and means to prepare for UPSC, handling of Peer pressure and also answered the questions raised by the students.

Hosting of CCE mentoring workshop at VKV Itanagar: - VKV Itanagar successfully hosted a one day CCE mentoring and experience sharing Workshop; organised by CBSE for the Principals of CBSE affiliated schools from Arunachal Pradesh. 32 Principals of various schools attended the programme. Sri. S.C Dixit, principal VKV Itanagar gave the welcome address and Sri. Unnikrishnan.P.M, Education Officer, VKVAPT highlighted the importance of effective implementation of CCE. Smt. Sughnada Sharma, Additional Director Research and innovation, New Delhi was the resource persons for the workshop.

Science Exhibitions: - VKV Oyan, Banderdewa, Itanagar and Kuporijo conducted Science exhibitions by involving large number of students. 76 students in VKV- Banderdewa, 137 students in VKV Kuporijo, 150students in VKV- Itanagar and 35 students in VKV Oyan participated in the science exhibition. Large number of parents witnessed the programme. The science exhibition at school level will have a good impact in developing the scientific temper among the students.

Legal awareness programme conducted in VKV- Nirjuli:-

One day legal awareness programme was conducted on 29th Nov. 2015 at VKV- Nirjuli in collaboration with State NSS cell, Government of Arunachal Pradesh. 100 Girls attended the programme. Dr. V.N. Sharma, State Liaison Officer- NSS Unit, Mitali Tingkhatra, Chairperson Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women, Su. Anupama Singh and Su Batori Kri, Assistant professor from Arunachal Law Academy were the main resource persons.

VKVs Shergaon, Tawang Ziro, and Joram are on winter vacation from 20 Dec onwards.  We wish all the students and the staff a purposeful vacation. May they enrich themselves and come back to action with more vigour and sprit!  Few of the teachers of these schools are deputed to other schools as per the need.
