International Day of Yoga 2026 – Programmes at Madurai


As part of the International Day of Yoga 2026 celebrations, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu Prant, Madurai Branch, organized yoga programmes at multiple institutions and centres across Madurai. A total of 64 people people participated in these programmes. These programmes were conducted in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) prescribed by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, while promoting this year's theme, "Yoga for Healthy Ageing." Students, Karyakartas, healthcare professionals, and members of the public enthusiastically participated in the sessions held at the following locations:

1. Arunachalam School

Vivekananda Kendra organized an International Day of Yoga programme at K.A.C.A Arunachalam Higher Secondary School on 19 June 2026 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The programme witnessed the participation of 30 students.

The programme commenced with a prayer led by Shri Balasurya, followed by an introduction to Vivekananda Kendra by Shri Rajasekaran Ji. Shri Prabhakaran explained the significance of International Day of Yoga and highlighted this year's theme, "Yoga for Healthy Ageing," emphasizing the importance of making yoga a lifelong practice. 

The programme concluded with the chanting of the Shanti Mantra, followed by a vote of thanks from the school authorities.

2. Balaji Nagar Karyalayam

An International Day of Yoga programme was organized at Balaji Nagar Karyalayam on 21 June 2026. A total of 20 Karyakartas and well-wishers participated in the programme.

3. DC Care Hospital & Nursing Institute

As part of the International Day of Yoga 2026 celebrations, a yoga programme was conducted at DC Care Hospital & Nursing Institute on 22 June 2026. The programme was organized with the participation of 14 participants.
