As part of the International Day of Yoga 2026 celebrations, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu Prant, Madurai Nagar organized a yoga awareness programme at TVS Sundaram School, Madurai on 18 June 2026 from 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. A total of 90 students enthusiastically took part in the programme.
The programme began with the assembly of the students, followed by the prayer led by Kum.Kowishka. Shri Rajasekaran, Sahitya Seva pramukh, addressed the gathering, explaining the significance of International Day of Yoga and highlighting this year's theme, "Yoga for Healthy Ageing." He emphasized that regular yoga practice helps cultivate physical fitness, mental balance, and healthy living from a young age.
To create an engaging atmosphere, Shri Balasurya, Karyapaddhati Pramukh conducted a short yoga-based game before leading the practical session. The yoga practice was conducted in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) prescribed by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. The session included loosening exercises, yogasanas, pranayama, meditation, and relaxation techniques. Shri Balasurya guided the practice, while Sanskar Varga Shikshaks Shri. Kuppu Raja and Shri.Vageesan demonstrated the postures. The students actively participated with enthusiasm and discipline throughout the session.
The programme concluded with the chanting of the Shanti Mantra, led by Kum. Kowishka, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by the school authorities.
A total of 90 students participated in the programme, making it a meaningful celebration that encouraged young learners to adopt yoga as a way of life for lifelong health and well-being.
