VKSSS Foundation Day - Tinsukia

 Vivekananda Kendra Swasthya Seva Sadan, Laipuli, Tinsukia observed 4th Foundation day on 5th June 2022. On this occasion a free eye screening camp was organized for two days i.e. on 4th and 5th June. Dr. Udayan Dixit, a very senior eye specialist from Pune, Maharastra rendered his voluntary service during the camp. 98 eye patients from nearby villages were benefitted and 10 pairs of spectacles were distributed free of cost to the needy. As 5th June is World Environment Day also, plantation was done at the Hospital premises in collaboration with local unit of All Assam Bengali Parishad.
In evening, one webinar was organized and Dr. Anant B.Pandhare, Medical Director of Dr.Hedgewar Hospital, Aurangabad delivered an insightful speech on  
“ Swsathya Seva Se Rastra Seva.” Sri Pravin Davolkar Ji, all India Treasurer of Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari briefed the audiences about the vision and mission of Vivekananda Kendra.
This is to be mentioned that Vivekananda Kendra Swasthya Seva Sadan is a charitable OPD with a Dental unit and a Pathological Laboratory to provide quality health care to the poor and needy at a very affordable cost. Till date 16685 OPD patients were treated and 3294 blood tests were done.

Free Eye Camps by VKAJ - Lohit - Arunachal Pradesh

 Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti Arunachal Pradesh organized free eye screening camp at Wakro CHC, Lohit district from 1st June to 3rd June 2022. Dr. Udayan Dixit, a highly experienced Ophthalmologist from Pune, Maharastra came voluntarily to render his valuable services. A total 154 patients were screened during the camp for various eye ailments. Patients from all the villages of Wakro circle including the remote villages came to avail the benefit. 28 patients were found with cataracts and they will be operated soon. 110 pairs of spectacles were distributed free of cost. Eye medicines were given to patients.
Earlier on 1st June, the camp was inaugurated by Sri Tamo Riba, EAC, Wakro. On his inaugural speech, he lauded the efforts of Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti in the field of primary health care in the eastern part of Arunachal Pradesh and assured all possible help for such venture in future also. This is to be mentioned that Dr. Dixit had visited Arunachal Pradesh earlier and he conducted such camps in Khonsa and Longding with Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti in 2019 and 2020.    

 

Mission Shakti - Arunachal Pradesh

 Mission Shakti- anemia detection and eradication program initiated by Vivekananda Kendra Swasthya Seva Sadan , Laipuli, Tinsukia, Assam was launched on 1st January 2021. This program is funded by India Development and Relief Fund (IDRF), USA. Our objective was to conduct outreach camps in some remote villages of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh to detect acute anemia among women and adolescent girls and help them to come out from this health issue. We selected 7 villages of Assam and 14 villages of Arunachal Pradesh. All the villages of Assam are in Tinsukia district and the villages of Arunachal Pradesh are in Namsai and Changlang districts. The mobile medical unit of Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti, Arunachal Pradesh took the responsibility to implement this program in Arunachal Pradesh. 

The first phase was over in April 2021. We screened 1738 women and out of them 903 were found as severely anemic. Digital haemoglobinometer were used to accurately measure the hemoglobin levels. After confirmation they were provided with Iron supplements for two months. Counseling sessions were conducted and our team suggested them to consume and produce iron rich local foods available in their area. Local self help groups, ASHA workers, Anganwadi Workers and various community based organizations were contacted and were involved in Mission Shakti program. Community involvement and participation made the whole program very effective and penetrative.  

The first round of follow up started from June 2021. It was very encouraging to see that 60% women were found with a raised hemoglobin level. We could locate 90% first phase beneficiaries in our follow up camps which is very encouraging. 

During the exercise, we found that in some communities like Missing community in Arunachal Pradesh and Adivasi community in Assam, anemia cases are more. In some villages, we even found 80%-90% women are anemic. After talking to people, observing their food habits and other social behaviors it was found that there are multiple reasons behind this. We are trying to address those issues also in a phased manner. Dept. of Women and Child Welfare is also helping us in this program especially in Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh. 

Second round of follow up will start in October 2021 and our target is to reduce anemia by 75%-80% in the villages we selected by December 2021. 

One small step can changed one's life

In August 2018, the Mobile Medical Team of Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti visited Wakka for Medical Camps. Our Nagar Sanyojak, Sri Saikhang Sir informed us about an eight years old boy, Kr Danggang Gangsa of Wakka village. Wakka is in Longding Dist of Arunachal Pradesh, about 90 Kms hill track from Dibrugarh which takes around 5-6 hrs with own vehicle and more than 12 hrs by Govt bus.
Kr Danggang Gangsa was born in 2010 with anorectal malformation. It was a medical emergency and colostomy surgery was immediately done in Dibrugarh. The Doctors advised the parents to visit them after 6 months, so that they can operate him for the anal opening. But, due to financial crisis, they didn’t come for the second operation and kept the children
at home. We went to see the children. The condition was pathetic. As he had the anal opening at his abdomen, he stayed in isolation and he didn’t have any friends to play with. Even his siblings avoided him.  He didn’t go to school. The parents requested us if we can do something for this child.
As he needed multiple and complicated surgeries, we decided to find out the best paediatric surgeon of Upper Assam.  We got to know about Dr. Hemonto Dutta, Professor and HOD of Paediatric Surgery, Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh. We contacted him and briefed about the child and about their financial condition. He immediately agreed to see the child and the child was examined in October 2018. DR. Dutta Sir fixed the date for the first surgery. Sir assured that the free will be free of cost. But the parents were so poor that they even didn’t have money for travelling and staying at Dibrugarh for few days. So, the people of Wakka area started crowd funding and collected some funds for them. The child was successfully operated and the anal opening was created. It was a very critical and long surgery. But he recovered fast and was discharged after ten days. They were advised to come after six to ten month for the next surgery. Our team was always in contact with them to see the progress of the child.
In July 2019, they came to Dibrugarh again for the next surgery. He was operated to close the colostomy. This occasion, the present MLA of Wakka also helped them financially. It was a minor surgery and the child was discharged after five days. Now Kr Danggang Gangsa is in his own village, happy and healthy. Parents are planning to admit him to the local school very soon.
We the Mobile Medical Team of Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti are very grateful to Dr. Hemonto Dutta Sir for all the help he offered. The way the people of Wakka area came out to help the family of the little child is praiseworthy. If the society  ecomes sensitive and concerned like this, nobody will suffer.

Free ENT Surgery Camp at Sonari

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Project: Arun Jyoti, Arunachal Pradesh in association with Sub-Divisional Civil Hospital, Sonari conducted one Free ENT Surgery Camp on 23rd and 24th September 2019. A team of five Doctors and one OT Sister under the leadership of Dr. Pradeep Kumar PS (MENTS Hospital, Bengaluru) rendered their valuable service voluntarily during the free camp. A total 16 surgeries were conducted successfully .Out of them 9 were ear surgeries and 7 were nasal surgeries. The Sub-Divisional Civil Hospital, Sonari provided us their OT infrastructure and Man-power. 37 patients were examined in our ENT OPD by the specialist Doctor. Patients from Charaideu district of Assam, Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh and Mon district of Nagalang were benefitted. Dr. Milan Kumar, the ENT Specialist of Civil Hospital screened all the patients and actively participated in the camp. Dr. Saumen Bhagawati, Superintendent of Civil Hospital helped whole heartedly and promised the same cooperation for future camps also.

Medical Help in Flood Affected Areas by Vivekananda Kendra

In the second week of July 2019, devastating flood severely affected many districts of Assam. Millions of people were evacuated to safer places. Their houses, belonging and paddy fields were either completely washed away or got damaged. Even some villages of Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh were also affected. At this hour of humanitarian crisis, the Swasthya Seva Manch of Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti planned to help some of the affected people by conducting Medical Camps for the flood affected areas. We have identified three remote locations, where there were certain needs. These three places are remote Amarpur area of Sadiya subdivision of Assam, Laika island of Tinsukia district and riverside villages of Mahadevpur circle of Namsai district. 

To get medicines to conduct the camps, we appealed Dr. Mahesh Singhvi of Mumbai. Their organization, Hari Om Group always helps the people suffering from natural calamities and they helped us in previous occasions also. He immediately responded and helped us to procure medicines within two days.

It was really difficult to send medical team along with medicines to remote places like Amarpur and Laika as the only mode of communication is country boats and due to heavy rains and current those were not in service. So, we approached Takam Mising Porin Kebang, an apex  Mising Students body for logistic support. They responded immediately and their President of Tinsukia district Sri Beni Doley personally took the responsibility. With the help of TMPK members, local Health workers and ASHA volunteers, the medical camp was conducted on 22nd July. 256 patients were examined and medicines were distributed accordingly.

The Vistar Pramukh of Anadalaya of Sadiya area, Sri Binod Das was contacted and he took the responsibility for Amarpur area. Basic medicines like ORS, ointments, paracetamol etc. were sent to him. He along with the Anandalaya Acaryas, Health Asssitants ,Mising Mahila Samiti Members and ASHA volunteers are still camping in those remote areas. This is to be mentioned that Amarpur is a vast area with a population of nearly 12,000.

Our Mobile Medical Team conducted three medical camps in Mahadevpur area on 23rd and 24th July at Kakoni, Nongkhong and Dirak Miri villages. All these villages were affected by recent floods. For these camps, we collaborated with All Lekang Area Youth Association. 207 patients were treated during these camps.

We requested all the local organizations who collaborated with us during the camps to keep an eye on the health scenario of the villages, so that we can if needed we can do the follow up properly.

Free Speech and Language Therapy Camp

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari organized one Free Speech and Language Therapy Camp at Vivekananda Kendra Medical Center, Laipuli, Tinsukia, Assam from 1st to 20th June 2019. Chaitrali Hemant Pavnaskar, a speech and language therapist from Pune rendered her valuable service during the camp. 20 children with speech and language difficulties attended the camp. She did the diagnosis and provided appropriate therapeutic interventions. She did counseling for the parents and taught them how to communicate with their child. 5 children with Cochlear Implants also attended the camp. This is to be mentioned that all these Cochlear Implants were done through Vivekananda Kendra in collaboration with Max Hospital, Delhi last year.

Along with the camp, we organized one workshop also for the speech and language trainers of Snehalaya, a local NGO of Tinsukia. The duration of the workshop was for 15 days. As speech and language therapy needs long term follow up, the team Snehalaya will do it.
The camp was very successful and we got all support from local ENT Doctors and other professionals, working on this field.
 

Free Assessment Camp for Cochlear Implant

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari in association with Snehalaya, a local NGO of Tinsukia organized a free assessment camp for children (0-5 years) of severe hearing loss for Cochlear Implants on 10th and 11th November 2018 at Marwari Arogya Bhawan and Hospital, Dibrugarh. Dr. Sanjay Sachdeva, Director and head of ENT, Max Hospitals, Delhi and NCR and Ankit Nautial, senior Audiologist, Max Hospital, Panchsheel Park, Delhi assessed 20 children of Tinsukia, Dibrugarh , Sivasagar and Charaideo districts during the camp. They identified 14 children, who need Cochlear Implants.

On 10th November evening, one CME was arranged and Doctors from Dibrugarh were invited to attend the CME. The objective was to create awareness for Cochlear Implant. Dr. Sanjay Sachdeva gave a power point presentation on Cochlear Implant and had some lively interaction with the Doctors of Dibrugarh. 15 Doctors participated in the programme. 
 
This is to be mentioned that last year six children from Tinsukia district were operated free of cost for Cochlear Implants at Max Hospital, Saket, Delhi successfully. During the camp, Dr.Sachdeva and Sri Nautial examined all these six children. They talked to the parents of these children and gave them valuable guidance. It is a metter of great satisfaction that two of them are enrolled in regular schools.

Free ENT Surgery Camp

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari in association with Sivasagar Civil  Hospital and District Health Society, Sivasagar organized one Free ENT Surgery camp on 29th and 30th June 2018 at Sivasagar Civil Hospital. A team of ENT surgeons and Anesthesiologist from MENTS Hospital, Bengaluru rendered their valuable services for the poor and needy patients of Sivasagar and adjoining districts. A total 20 patients were successfully operated for 21 surgical procedures during this camp.

The camp was inaugurated on 29th June and the inaugural meeting was chaired by Dr. Ripun Borpujari, Joint Director of Health Services, Sivasagar. The Distrct Development Commissioner , Sri Abhijit Baruah was the chief guest.  Many prominent citizens and Doctors of Sivasagar town attended the meeting . Dr. Prakash Kotoky, Vibhag Sanchalak of Vivekananda Kendra, Jorhat- Sivasagar Vibhag, briefed the audience about the Vivekananda Kendra and its various activities. 

The patient screening for the camp was started earlier and the ENT Doctors of Sivasagar selected all cases and prepared them for surgeries. During this two days camp the ENT Doctors team examined 115 patients in OPD and medicines were prescribed to them accordingly.  Seeing the need of such free surgeries, the Doctors are interested to visit again to conduct such camps. 

Medical Camp at Longding district by VKAJ

Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti organized two medical camps in remote villages of Longding district on 6th and 7th June 2018. On 6th June the camp was organized at Khanu village of Wakka circle and 145 patients were treated and free medicines were distributed accordingly. On 7th June 96 patients were examined and treated at Longsom village of Kanubari circle.

This is to be mentioned that Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti with the support of India development and Relief Fund (IDRF), USA is launching a programme for malnourished children of these two villages. During the medical camps, we selected children for the programme and had meetings with the villagers regarding the programme. It has been decided that nutritious supplements will be provided to the poorly nourished children, initially for one year from next month. The local team of Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti will take care of the whole programme under the guidance of our Mobile Medical Unit.

Indoco Remedies Ltd., a pharmaceutical giant of Mumbai donated some medicines for these free Medical Camps.

Medical Camps at Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh

Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti in association with Department of Women and Child Development (ICDS project), Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh organized mega medical and health awareness camps in three locations of Namsai district from 28th to 30th May 2018. Camps were organized at Piyong Khamti, Mengkeng Miri and Simolbari villages. The target groups were the adolescent girls, expecting women, lactating mothers and malnourished girl Children. 36 Anganwadi centers of Namsai and Piyong circle were covered.

During the awareness meetings, various health issues like anemia, worm infection, consumption of safe drinking water, prevention of water borne diseases, menstrual hygiene, Institutional Delivery, Vaccination etc. were discussed by Arun Jyoti Medical Team. The Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of Namsai and Piyong, Mrs. W.Tangha explained various schemes for Women and Girl Child. Local Panchayat leaders also participated in these meetings.

A total 207 patients were treated for various ailments during the camp. Iron and Folic Acid tablets were given free of cost to all anemic women and girls after check up. Our Medical team has given counseling to adolescent girls.     

Free Cochlear Implant Programme

The Swasthya Seva Manch(Health Service Forum) of Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Uttar Poorvanchal organized a free Cochlear Implant (a very expensive imported lifelong hearing device) programme for deaf and dumb children in association with Max Hospital, Saket, New Delhi and Snehalaya, an NGO of Tinsukia working in the field of differently able persons . Dr. Sanjay Sachdeva, Head of ENT and Head & Neck Surgery, Max Hospitals, visited Tinsukia in the month of May 2017 to screen patients. 

In the screening camp six children were selected by him for the surgery. After counseling the parents, it was decided that three children will be send to Delhi for surgeries in July 2017. Accordingly Urmi Moran (2yrs.and7months), Ristina Buragohain(4 yrs.) and Arpita Gogoi(4yrs.and 6 months) were sent to Delhi along with their parents and on 30th July, they got the approval for surgeries. In next three days, they were operated at Max Hospital, Delhi by Dr.Sachdeva and his highly skilled and dedicated team and the internal part of the device were successfully implanted. After two days, they were sent back home.

After four weeks they had to visit Delhi again to switch on the device and the 31st August 2017 was fixed for that purpose. Accordingly they reached Max Hospital on that day and under the guidance of Dr.Shruti Sahni (Senior Audiologist) and technicians, the devices were switched on. It was a memorable moment for all of us to watch the reactions of the children, who were listening to sounds first time in their life. 

The third and very crucial part of this entire exercise is speech therapy, which will be given to these children very soon at Snehalaya free of cost. 

All these three children are from economically poor families background. Without the help from Max Hospital, Saket,Delhi, Cochlear (Australian manufacturer of the device), Amplifone (Audiology experts) it wouldn’t had been possible to have these implants free of cost. In this endeavor a major setback occurred due to relentless flood which disrupted the train connectivity between North-East and the rest of the country. A moment came when we all despaired that the second trip to Delhi would be cancelled. At this crucial juncture the most encouraging incident occurred, when on our request the Prime Ministers National Relief Fund (PMNRF) immediately reserved flight tickets for children and parents to Delhi. 

After the successful completion of the first phase, we are planning to organize the second screening camp in October 2017 to find more economically poor deaf and dumb children.  Feeling the need of this area for more such programmes Dr Sachdeva has offered all possible assistance to treat more deaf and dumb children and help them to lead a normal life.  

193rd Free Eye Camp at Kanyakumari​

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari organized 193rd Free Eye Camp on 7th June 2017 Wednesday from 9:00 a m to 3:00 p m in Vivekanandapuram Campus.​ This Eye Camp was ​Sponso​​r​ed by​ Smt S Shankary (In memory of her husband late MGS   Shankar) of Tirunelveli.

The Camp was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by LifeWorker, Kum. Aparna Palkar in presence of Dr. Sneha & Dr. Pradhan of the Aravind Eye Hospital, Tirunelveli. Including Doctors total 15 member of Medical Team has conducted the camp. They checked up more than 180 outdoor patients, from which 38 patients have been sent to Tirunelveli for Operation and with this free Spectacles and post operative medicine were distributed to Eye Patients at Vivekanandapuram campus at Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari.

Free Operation Camp at Sonari

The Free Operation Camp organized by Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari in association with Dept. of Health and Family Welfare, Charaideo district and Remote Area Medical Corp.(RAM), Knoxville, USA concluded successfully on February 18, 2017 at Sub Divisional Civil Hopital , Rajapukhuri, Sonari. During the weeklong camp 42 patients were operated by the NRI and Indian Doctors for various diseases like Gall Bladder Stone, Appendicitis, Inguinal Hernia, Hydrocele etc.Out of them there were 25 female, 15 male and 2 pediatric patients. In OPD 107 patients were treated. 28 free Endoscopies were done by the NRI Gastroenterologist and out of them 2 were colonoscopies. Dr. Gangadhar Maddiwar, Dr.Vinayak Kulkarni, Dr.Anuradha Kulkarrni , Dr. Manoj Kulkarni and Dr. Krishna Dehpande from USA and Dr. Satish Tatawar from Chandrapur, Maharastra participated voluntarily in this camp. One ENT surgeon Dr.Archana Ranade from Apollo Gleneagles Hospital, Kolkata joined the surgical team for two days and she conducted 5 major ENT surgeries. Patients from Charaideo district of Assam and Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh got the benefits from this Free Operation Camp.

Earlier the camp was inaugurated on 13th February 2017 by the Deputy Commissioner of Charaideo district Sri Bibekananda Phukan attended by eminent personalities of Charaideo and Sibsagar districts. He thanked Vivekananda Kendra and RAM for the noble initiative to conduct such a multispecialty operation camp in this remote and sensitive border district. The Hospital Management Committee of Sonari Hospital felicitated the visiting doctors team with Assamese traditional Gamocha.

The mobile medical of Vivekananda Kendra conducted seven screening camps in various places of Longding and Charaideo for one month to find poor and needy patients for surgeries. 78 patients registered their names in these camps and out of them 42 were operated in the operation camp. Rests of the patients were medically treated.

It has to be mentioned that the Free Operation Camp in collaboration with RAM completed ten glorious years and we operated 596 patients so far without any complications. 

100 patients attended free ENT camp at Kangra on January 29

KANGRA : January 29 -  On the first day of the two day  free ENT camp  organized by Vivekananda Kendra Kanayakumari Branch Kangra today, nearly one hundred patients attended the OPD at Gopal Bagh in the outskirts of town and surgical cases were identified for tomorrow’s surgical camp.

Vivekananda Kendra, a spiritually oriented service mission with Headquarter at Kanayakumari  last year selected 21 deaf and dumb children from this hill state  below the age group of 5 years for cochlear implant surgery to be carried by Dr. Sanjay Sachdeva  and 12 of them were operated upon during the last few months successfully.

Dr. Sanjay Sachdeva, Director ENT, Head and Neck surgery Max Group of Hospitals, today here that the children born with congenital hearing loss face difficulties in communication and in learning speech with the result they have gross lack of communication skills and such children could be helped by implanting surgically cochlear implant.

He said that Cochlear implant was making children to form the productive part of the society as they behave like normal children.

A dozen  mute children were operated upon  for free Cochlear implants in these Vivekananda Kendra ENT camps with successful results. Five such children along with their parents attended the camp today and were suggested to continue with speech therapy.PR Agnihotri  Convenor Vivekanandra Kendra Kangra Branch said that Cochlear implant costing Rs. 5.38 lacs was being provided  free to the patient besides the surgery costing Rs. 1.10  lac was also being  performed free of cost. Vivekananda Kendra managed to get the  Cochlear implant from a global foundation and services of Dr. Sanjay Sachdeva too were free being a Vivekananda Kendra activist.

He said that 100  patients were examined  and 36 audiometric tests were conducted free of cost  during the camp today by the experts from Chinmayanad Organization for Rural Development (CORD).  Speech therapy in collaboration with the CORD is being organized at Sidhbari Dharamshala.

Free Operation Camp by Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti

The Free Surgery camp organized by Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti in association in association with District Health society, Changlang, Arunachal Pradesh successfully concluded on 17th December 2016. A total 34 surgeries for various ailments like Gall Bladder stone, Appendicitis, Hernia, Breast Lumps etc. were operated during the camp. Dr.Qutub Nadaf(General surgeon from USA )and Dr.Samir Kr.Saikia(Anesthetist from VKNRL Hospital, Numaligarh, Assam) rendered their valuable services for the poor and needy patients.

The camp was inaugurated on 12th December by honorable Parliamentary Secretary and MLA Sri Phosum Khimhun. He lauded the noble cause of Vivekananda Kendra and assured all possible help for such service activities in future also. On 16th December the Deputy Commissioner of Changlang ,Sri W.Khimhun visited the hospital and interacted with visiting doctors and patients and appreciated the initiative.

Dr. Prasad and Dr. Ritesh and a 16 member medical team from Aravind Eye Hospital, Tirunelveli Conducted the camp. Post operative medicines to 38 patients (previous month's surgery cases) and 10 spectacles were distributed freely. 

Homeopathy Medical Camp & Awareness Programme

A free Homeopathic Medical Camp and Awareness Programme was organized at VK BORL Hospital, Bina on 4th December’ 2016 Sunday from 12:00 Noon to 04:00 PM.

Shri Arvind Sharma, Dy. Director, Dept. of Industrial Safety & Health (DISH), Bhopal was the Chief Guest Shri Ratnakar Behra, Sr. VP-BORL and Shri U. C. Upadhyay, Jt Sr. VP-HR BORL were guest of honor.

Dr M Zakariya Siddique, Renowned Homeopath & Managing Director, New Life Laboratories Pvt. Ltd, Bhopal addressed the gathering and said that patients should share their disease history with doctor in detail without hesitation to identify the proper line of treatment.

Dr Sangeeta Jain, Visiting Homeopathy Consultant, VK BORL Hospital, Bina and Dr M Zakariya Siddique, Bhopal and his team of Homeopathy Doctors (Dr Nauseen Khan, Dr Gulnaz Khan, Dr Asha Kushwaha, Dr Washim, Dr Hanzilla Anwar) examined 280 patients of different diseases like skin disease, respiratory tract infection and arthritis along with acute and chronic diseases.

The doctors treated the patients with holistic healing remedies of Homeopathy and gave advice to patients for preventive, conservative approach and free of cost Homeopathic medicines were distributed to the patients which were prescribed by the concerned homeopathy physician.

Homeopathy Companies: New Life Homeopathy, Baksons Homeopathy, BJain Pharmaccuticals, Adven Biotech Pvt. Ltd. & SBL companies distributed homeopathy medicine free of cost to patients as per prescription of doctors.

Special Medical Health Camp & Awareness Programme

A free Special Medical Camp and Awareness Programme “VIVEKANANDA AROGYA MELA” was organized at Naveen Samudaik Swasthya Kendra, Mandi Bamora on 27th November’ 2016 Sunday from 10:00 AM to 03:00 PM in association with the Social Workers of Mandi Bamora.

In this programme 813 patients were consulted by Doctors. During the camp necessary investigations & medicines were dispensed free of cost. In the camp following investigations were done

Blood Pressure: Blood Pressure of all the visitors having age more than 10 years, were checked and 02 were detected to have problem of high BP.

Hemoglobin: Hemoglobin of all the visitors was checked and 05 were detected to have significant anemia.

Height & Weight: Height and Weight of all the visitors have also been checked.

Random Blood Sugar (RBS): RBS of all the visitors having age more than 40 years were checked and 13 patients were detected having diabetes.

Eye Checkup: 85 patients were examined; 21 patients were detected with the problem of vision due to cataract and 41 had refractory error.

Chief Guest: Adarniya Pooran Singh Raghuvansi, Sr. Social Worker and businessman of Mandibamora was Chief Guest of the programme.

Guest of Honor & Dignitaries: Regional businessman and respected personality of Mandibamora Shri Umashankar Agarwal, Shri Jagdish Prasad Tiwari, Shri Rajendra Dabri, Shri Naveen Paliwal were present as guest of honor at this medical camp.

Address by Chief Guest : Adarniya Pooran Singh Raghuvansiji wished to improve the health standard of the residents of the Mandibamora through this type of medical camps and awareness programmes and requested the VK BORL Hospital management to conduct more camps in future in this area.

Address by Medical Superintendent: Dr Rajkumar Kayal, Medical Superintendent said that the situation of the people of this area is vulnerable because of lack of education and public health awareness. He further said that the key challenges in the health care domain are poor accountability, low-quality care, lack of health awareness and limited access to health facilities. Medical Superintendent expressed that VK BORL Hospital, Bina took the initiative of introducing the Health Camp & Awareness Programme “VIVEKANANDA AROGYA MELA” with the aim to educate rural India and make them aware of how to take proper care of their health. This programme is focused towards general checkup of people addressing issues of personal health care, vaccination, hygiene, blood donation illness prevention etc.

Lightening of the Ceremonial Lamp & Felicitation of Dignitaries and Doctors: Shri Pooran Singh Raghuvansi and other dignitaries lighted the ceremonial lamp at 11:00 AM and inaugurated the event. All the guests, dignitaries and doctors were felicitated with Vivekananda Literature, Shrifal & Garland on this occasion. Acharya Shri Ram Sharmaji, Saraswati Sisu Mandir, Mandibamora welcomed all the guests and dignitaries.

Shri Goldi Arora, presented audio visual programme for the beneficiaries and motivated all for blood donation. Smt Sangeeta Ahirwar managed the sale counter of Vivekananda Kendra literature at the venue.

Dr Rajesh Pastor, I/c of Samudik Swasthya Kendra, Mandi Bamora, Shri Naveen Paliwal, Social Worker and Shri Badri Prasad, Advocate played an important role in coordination and management of whole event. बीना। विवेकानंद केन्द्र बीओआरएल चिकित्सालय व महिला एवं बाल विकास विभाग के संयुक्त तत्वावधान में विवेकानंद केन्द्र बीओआरएल चिकित्सालय में दिनांक 25 अक्टूबर 2016, मंगलवार को आंगनबाडी कार्यकर्ता व निरीक्षकों को प्रोजेक्ट संजीवनी के द्वितीय चरण की शुरूआत के पूर्व एक प्रशिक्षण कार्यशाला के माध्यम से प्रशिक्षण दिया गया। बच्चों में कुपोषण को दूर करने के लिए उक्त प्रोजेक्ट का संचालन किया जाता है। कार्यशाला में विवेकानंद केन्द्र बीओआरएल चिकित्सालय के चिकित्सा अधीक्षक व वरिष्ठ शिशु एवं बाल रोग विशेषज्ञ डाॅ . राजकुमार कयाल ने सभी को प्रशिक्षण दिया।

कार्यशाला में महिला बाल विकास विभाग की बाल विकास परियोजना अधिकारी श्रीमती संध्या शिन्दे व पर्यवेक्ष श्रीमती निशा रतले व बीओआरएल के उप-प्रबंधक श्री नवीन सिंह गहरवार व सहायक प्रबंधक श्री सायन चटर्जी, विवेकानंद केन्द्र बीओआरएल चिकित्सालय के प्रशासनिक अधिकारी श्री गिरीश कुमार पाल, मेडिको सोशल वर्कर श्री सौरभ मराठे, डाॅ . दीपाली कयाल, डाॅ. आशीष तिवारी सहित अन्य अधिकारी व कर्मचारी उपस्थित रहे। कार्यशाला में डाॅ . कयाल ने कहा कि यदि हमें स्वस्थ व समर्थ भारत चाहिए तो हमें नई पीढी को कुपोषण से बचाना होगा। बुजुर्गों की सेवा से हमें जो पुण्य मिलता है, उससे भी कहीं अधिक पुण्य हमें नवजात शिशुओं और छोटे बच्चों को कुपोषण से बचाने से मिलता है। जब बच्चों का कुपोषण मिटेगा तभी हमारा खुशहाल होगा। उन्होने सभी को उक्त पक्ष की तकनीकी व बारिकियों से भी अवगत कराया।

कार्यशाला के प्रारंभ में सभी कार्यकर्ताओं विवेकानंद केन्द्र व चिकित्सालय का एक वीडियो दिखाया गया। जिसके बाद एक लिखित परीक्षा ली गई जिसके माध्यम से उनका कुपोषण के प्रति ज्ञान जांचा गया। तत्पश्चात् डाॅ . राजकुमार कयाल द्वारा उन्हे स्तनपान, पूरक आहार, बच्चों व प्रसूताअों में होने वाली आम बीमारियां व स्वच्छता के विषय में जानकारी दी गई । वहीं सभी कार्यकर्ताओं द्वारा कार्यक्षेत्र में आने वाली परेशानी व अनुभव बताए गए। कार्यशाला के अंत में उन्हे रोचक खेल भी खिलाए गए। बीओआरएल की ओर से सभी निरीक्षक व कार्यकर्ताओं को स्मृति चिन्ह प्रदान किए। कार्यशाला में सभी का आभार श्रीमती संध्या शिंदे ने व्यक्त किया।
