Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari in association with Snehalaya, a local NGO of Tinsukia organized a free assessment camp for children (0-5 years) of severe hearing loss for Cochlear Implants on 10th and 11th November 2018 at Marwari Arogya Bhawan and Hospital, Dibrugarh. Dr. Sanjay Sachdeva, Director and head of ENT, Max Hospitals, Delhi and NCR and Ankit Nautial, senior Audiologist, Max Hospital, Panchsheel Park, Delhi assessed 20 children of Tinsukia, Dibrugarh , Sivasagar and Charaideo districts during the camp. They identified 14 children, who need Cochlear Implants.
On 10th November evening, one CME was arranged and Doctors from Dibrugarh were invited to attend the CME. The objective was to create awareness for Cochlear Implant. Dr. Sanjay Sachdeva gave a power point presentation on Cochlear Implant and had some lively interaction with the Doctors of Dibrugarh. 15 Doctors participated in the programme.
This is to be mentioned that last year six children from Tinsukia district were operated free of cost for Cochlear Implants at Max Hospital, Saket, Delhi successfully. During the camp, Dr.Sachdeva and Sri Nautial examined all these six children. They talked to the parents of these children and gave them valuable guidance. It is a metter of great satisfaction that two of them are enrolled in regular schools.
