Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari in association with District Blindness Control Society, Tinsukia, Assam conducted one Free Cataract Surgery Camp on 1st November 2018 at Chapakhowa Government Hospital. Dr. G.S. Gogoi(Eye Surgeron, Tinsukia Civil Hospital) and Dr. Alaka Devi(Eye Surgeon, Tinsukia Civil Hospital) along with other OT staffs of Tinsukia Civil Hospital rendered their valuable services during the camp. A total 28 patients were operated successfully. All the beneficiaries are poor and elderly.
On 29th October 2018, we organized one Cataract Detection camp at very remote, flood affected and underdeveloped Bogoribari village of Sadiya Subdivision inhabited by Mising people. With the active participation of District Programme Manager, Tinsukia district Blindness Control Society, Sri Amulya Gohain, we selected 31 cataract patients in the detection camp for surgeries. 12 pairs of spectacles were also distributed during the detection camp.
During this winter, we have a plan to conduct more detection and surgery camps in the remote villages of Sadiya subdivision.
