YSS May 2022 Shivir - Kanyakumari

 The Yoga Shiksha Shibir was held at Vivekanand Kendra, Kanyakumari between 1st to 15th May 2022, With this the YCC new batch also started. Total 56 participants attended the shivir who came from various states like Maharashtra, Gujrat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Aasam, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamilnadu & Kerala.
Formal reporting and registrations started from the morning on 30th April and introductory session was held the same day in the evening after Bhajan Sandhya & Supper wherein participants were given orientation of the camp.
Medium of the camp was Hindi & English.Participants were organized into 7 different groups that were named after ShadDarshan Pranetas Kapil, Patanjali, Gautama, Kanad, Jaimini, Vyas and seventh as Vashishth.
The 15 days camp had morning prayers, yogabhyas, pranayama, shramsanskar, theory sessions, group discussions, chanting practice, bhajan sandhyas & prerana se punrutthan sessions.
In yoga practicals, participants were taught loosening exercises, suryanamaskaras and various asanas that are done in a particular way. In pranayama practice they were trained into a systematic order of pranayamas that follows a sequence for optimum benefit.
Theory lectures comprised of sessions on concept of yoga, yama, niyama, aasana, pranayama, antrang yoga,kriya-bandha-mudras, yoga & food, bhagvad gita , karmayoga, jnanayoga, bhaktiyoga, anand mimansa, omkara & Indian culture.
There were lectures about Swami Vivekananda, Ma. Eknathji, Story of Rock Memorial, Kendra Prarthana & Sanghe Shakti Kaliyuge.
All these were followed by Manthan i.e. group discussions so participants could get deeper insights and express their understanding about the subjects.
In Geet Abhyas satras, participants were taught various chantings that included shanti mantra, Aikya mantra, pratahsmaran prayer, bhagvadgeeta karmayog shloksamgraha & Shivir geet along with few other songs.
Participants did Shuddhikriyas Jalneti, Sutraneti & Vaman dhauti twice during the Shivir. They practiced Trataka as well in a session and also experienced Omkara Dhyan & Cyclic Meditation during the shivir.
Daily bhajan sandhyas added a flavour of Bhakti & emotional culture through devotional chantings.
Pure & Satvik food devised according to the routine was a part of daily diet which supported the yogsadhana of the participants throughout the days.
Prerana se punrutthan sessions introduced participants to various VK activities & projects and also helped them unwind through actions songs, games & cultural performances.
Shramsanskar sessions instilled attitude of service, cleanliness & self sufficiency into the participants.
All took part in ‘Kendra Vargas’ on 2 Sundays during the shivir. Participants visited Rock memorial on 5th May that stands as a source of inspiration & energy for all. They also had darshan of Kanyakumari temple. On 10th May participants trekked onto Marutvamalai hill which is a very significant mountain in many ways.On 11th May they went to see 3 exhibitions in the campus; Gangotri, Arise-Awake and Ramayana Darshanam which gave them an idea and outline about Swamijis Vision, Ekanathjis life and chronology of the epic Ramayana.
The Shivir went on well in a congenial, spiritual atmosphere with moderate discipline and affection.
Many of the participants have expressed their willingness to devote their time & energy for the service of the society through Kendra activities.

Kudos to the entire team of Vivekananda Kendra NARDEP Kanyakumari and the well wishers.

Samskar Varga Sammelan at VK Madurai

 On 13th March 2022, Vivekananda Kendra Madurai organised Samskar varga Sammelan at TVS Higher Secondary School, Lakshmipuram from 10 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Totally 80 Samskar varga children participated and the organising team consisted of 20 Karyakarthas.

The Sammelan started with prayer at 10 a.m. and it consisted of song practice, aagnyas practice, games, activity session, group discussion and paper drapery like national leaders. All the participants had involved themselves in these samskarvarga activities.

The parents of the participants were invited to the concluding session in the evening. The children presented few samskarvarga activities in front of their parents through which parents were also able to understand the importance of Samskarvarga and Vivekananda Kendra in moulding their children's personality.

The camp concluded with Sarve bavanthu by 5.45 p.m.

Republic Day At VKV Kanyakumari

 On the auspicious morning of 26th Jan 2022, we celebrated Republic day in our school premises with great splendour and grandeur to commemorate the enforcement of the Indian constitution on 26th Jan 1950. The event started sharply at 8.30 a.m. with Vandematharam. Mann.Hanmantaraoji, Vice president of Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra presided over the function and unfurled the tricolour flag followed by the National Anthem. The pledge was taken by all the participants. The welcome address was delivered by our teacher Smt.E.Sumathi. Some of our teachers brought out their patriotic fervour & delighted everyone by a Bharathiyar song. Our teacher Smt.Jaya Lakshmi delivered a speech on the importance of the day. In her speech, she pointed out the development of Mother Bharath in various fields and also highlighted the Honorable Governor of Tamil Nadu, Sri. R.N.Ravi’s oration about “what could be Bharath in 2047 by the time India completed 100 years of celebration”.  Mann. Hanumantaraoji emphasized that the pride of our National flag lies in the hands of the soldiers who have sacrificed their noble lives for the nation and are still at the frontiers safeguarding from foreign invasions. He insisted us to respect the army men whom we meet in our daily lives. He also put forth his wish that the students should be motivated in such a way that they serve the nation by being an army man and bring pride to our school. Our teacher Shri. R.Sundarakumar proposed the vote of thanks. Finally the celebration came to an end with Kendra Prarthana and the distribution of sweets to all 240 participants.

Swami Vivekananda Jayanthi At VKV Kanyakumari

 Swami Vivekananda, born on 12th January 1863 was an Indian Hindu monk and philosopher.  His was the life devoted to national regeneration and he motivated many young minds to work towards Nation building.  As a mark of tribute to his legendary hero, his birth anniversary is celebrated as National Youth Day across the Country.

On the very fine evening of 12th January, we inaugurated the program the lighting of the lamp by Mann. Rekha Didi, Joint General Secretary of Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra followed by an invocation by our students.  Mascara of XI Std. offered a red carpet welcome to the participants.  G.Jany Nishmitha of XI std.  sang a melodious song praising the glory of Swami Vivekananda.  T.Vinisha of XII std. presented a very beautiful picture on the importance of the day.  The teachers of V.K.V. exhibited their patriotic fervor through their motivational song.  Man. Rekha Didi, the honourable guest of the day gave an astounding oration about Swami Vivekananda’s unique character, his travel to west, the wave of Sanadhana Dharma that vibrated across the country through his philosophical speech and motivated the youth to work for the nation.  She insisted the participants to read Swami Vivekananda’s lectures and not to touch anything that makes one physically, spiritually and mentally weak.  She advised us to have the ideals of Swami Vivekananda in our minds, spread his message throughout and strive hard to make India the “Jagat Guru”.

            Vote of thanks was proposed by Keerthiga of XI std.  The programme was compered by Naveena of XII std.  Finally, the programme came to a fine end by Kendra Prarthana.

आध्यात्मिक शिविर - फरवरी 2022

 विवेकानंद केंद्र का आध्यात्मिक शिविर फरवरी 21 से 27 तक विवेकानंदपुरम, कन्याकुमारी में आयोजित किया गया।

इस शिविर में महाराष्ट्र, राजस्थान, बिहार, पश्चिम बंगाल, केरल, तमिलनाडु, कर्नाटक, तेलंगाना और आंध्र प्रदेश - इन 9 राज्यों से 50 शिविरार्थियों ने सहभागिता की। इनमें 29 बहने और 21 भाई थे। शिविर संचालन के व्यवस्था चमु में कुल 11 सदस्य रहे।

शिविर का पंजीकरण 20 फरवरी को प्रारंभ हुआ और उसी दिन भजन संध्या के साथ शिविर प्रारंभ हुआ। परिचय सत्र में शिविर अधिकारी माननीय रेखा दीदी ने शिविर का विस्तृत परिचय दिया। व्यवस्था चमु और शिविरार्थियों के परिचय के साथ प्रथम दिवस की समाप्ति हुई।

21 फरवरी से सुबह 5:15 बजे प्रातः स्मरण से शिविर नियमित रूप से प्रारंभ हुआ। शिविर की दिनचर्या इस प्रकार रही: 5:15 बजे प्रातः स्मरण, योगाभ्यास, अल्पाहार, श्रमसंस्कार, बौद्धिक सत्र, मंथन, भोजन, विश्राम, गीत अभ्यास, चाय, बौद्धिक सत्र, प्राणायाम-ध्यान अभ्यास, समुद्र की ओर, भजन संध्या, रात्रि भोजन, आनंद मेला और गण बैठक।

शिविर के सुव्यवस्थित संचालन हेतु शिविरार्थियों को 5 गणों को संगठित किया गया : अत्रिगण, अपाला गण, अंगीरसगण, गोधागण, अगस्त्य गण - भारत के ऋषि ऋषिकाओं के नाम पर आधारित यह गण रहे। ‌

शिविर में निम्नलिखित विषयों पर बौद्धिक हुए: अध्यात्म की संकल्पना, केंद्र प्रार्थना, उपनिषदों के संदेश, भगवतगीता, विवेकानंद केंद्र अध्यात्म प्रेरित सेवा संगठन, विवेकानंद केंद्र की गतिविधियां, स्वामी विवेकानंद, कर्मयोगैकनिष्ठा, विवेकानंद शिला स्मारक की कथा और ध्येयमार्गानुयात्रा।

मंथन में बौद्धिक पर आधारित विषयों पर सहभागीयों ने उत्साह के साथ अपने विचार रखे।

योगाभ्यास में अनेक आसन सिखाए गए और प्राणायाम भी सिखाए गए। साथ ही ओमकार ध्यान और आवृत्ति ध्यान का भी अभ्यास हुआ।

गीत-अभ्यास में स्त्रोत, श्लोक और गीतों का अभ्यास हुआ। ‌

शिविर के दौरान शिविरार्थियों ने विवेकानंद शिला स्मारक के दर्शन किए और विवेकानंदपुरम की प्रदर्शनींया भी पूरे उत्साह और रुचि के साथ देखी।

रात्रि आनंद मेला में गीत, खेल के साथ ही कीर्तन और एक पात्री प्रयोग भी हुए। आनंद मेला में ठाकुर रामकृष्ण की कथा माला का श्रवण और आदि शंकराचार्य द्वारा रचित लिंगआस्टकम् का पठन हुआ।

दिनांक 26 फरवरी को अंतिम आनंद मेला में शिविरार्थियों द्वारा उनके प्रतिभा से गीत नृत्य के द्वारा सबको आनंद की अनुभूति प्रदान की।

कुल मिलाकर शिविर अत्यंत आनंदमयी वातावरण में प्रेम भाव के साथ में संपन्न हुआ। अनेक शिविरार्थियों ने विवेकानंद केंद्र के माध्यम से समाज के लिए सेवा कार्य करने की इच्छा प्रदर्शित की है।

The Spiritual Retreat was organized from 21 to 27 February 2022 at Vivekanandapuram, Kanyakumari.

Fifty participants from following 9 states participated in this camp  : Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Bihar, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.  Of this were 29 sisters and 21 brothers.  Organising team had 11 members.

The registration for the camp started on 20th February and on the same evening the camp started with Bhajan Sandhya.  In the introduction session, Shibir Adhikari Mananeeya Rekha Didi gave a detailed introduction to the camp.  The first day ended with the introduction of the organising team and the participants.

The camp started regularly from 21st February at 5:15 am with Pratahsmaran.  The camp routine was as follows: 5:15 a.m. Pratahsmaran, Yoga practice, breakfast, Shramsanskar, Lecture session 1, Manthan, Lunch, Geet Abhyas, tea, Lecture session 2, Pranayama-Meditation practice,  Bhajans, dinner and Anand Mela.

Participants were organized into 5 ganas, namely,  Atrigana, ApalaGana, Angirasgana, Godhagana and Agastya ganß- these Gana were based on the names of the sages of India.

In the camp lectures were on the following topics: Concept of Spirituality, Kendra Prarthana, Messages from Upanishads, Bhagvad Gita, Vivekananda Kendra Spiritually Orientated Service Organization, Activities of Vivekananda Kendra,  Swami Vivekananda, Karmayogaikanishtha, Story of Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Dhyeymarganuyatra.

In the Manthan,  participants expressed their views with enthusiasm on topics based on the  Lectures.

Asanas were taught in yoga practice and pranayama was also taught.  Along with this Omkar meditation and cyclic meditation were also practiced.

Stotras, shlokas and songs were practiced in Geet abhyas.

During the camp, the participants visited the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and also viewed the exhibitions at Vivekanandapuram with great enthusiasm and interest.

In the Anand Mela, along with songs, games, Kirtan and a play were also held.  In the Anand Mela, the story of Thakur Ramakrishna was told and Lingashtakam by Adi Shankaracharya was chanted.

In the last Anand Mela on 26th February, participants presented Cultural dances and songs.

Overall, the camp had a joyful atmosphere.  Many participants have shown their willingness to do service work for the society through Vivekananda Kendra.

              Gita Jayanthi is an event centered around the Bhagavat Gita, celebrated in the Shukla Ekadashi, the 11th day of the waxing moon of the Margashirsha month. It was on this day that Lord Krishna conveyed the message of Gita to Arjuna in the battle field of Kurushetra. 

            Gita Jayanthi celebration was organised in our school on 14th December 2021. It was initiated at 10 a.m. with 3 om’karas and ShanthiManthra. The students along with the teachers offered their humble pranams to Lord Krishna by chanting the slokas from ‘The Bhagavat Gita’. The primary class students chanted the slokas from “Gita for daily life” and the rest of the students chanted the slokas from the 11th chapter of “The Bhagavat Gita”. The celebration was concluded with ‘Shanti Mantra’.

SadhanaDiwas was celebrated in our school on 19.11.2021 at 2.45 p.m. to pay our homage and gratitude to Mann. EknathjiRanade, the man with Capital ‘M’ who lived up to the ideal ‘One life, One Mission’. He has a special place in the little hearts of the people as a man of humanity, founder of Vivekananda Kendra and his remarkable task ‘The construction of Vivekananda Rock Memorial’.

            The programme was initiated with an invocation by IX Std girls. The welcome address was delivered by M.S.AnushKumari of XI std. G.JanyNishmitha of XI std gave a short glimpse on the importance of the day. IX std girls sang a melodious song praising the master of the day,Man.EknathRanade. Mann. HanumanthaRaoji, the Vice President of Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra,presided the function that day. In his oration, he highlighted the holistic mission of Man. EknathRanade by overcoming all the obstacles that hindered its progress. He said that the Real Education is not related to marks but teach one to serve the society and spread the fragrance of love among the human beings and all living creatures around. He advised the students to have a goal in life and lead a purposeful life like Swami Vivekananda and Mann. EknathRanade in serving the humanity. On account of the children’s day celebration, elocution and music competitions were conducted to bring out the innate talent of our students. G.JanyNishmitha of XI Std who won the first prize in the music competition entertained the participants by her melodious song and N.P.Eshana of X Std presented her prize winning speech. The prizes were distributed to the winners by Mann. HanumanthaRaoji. Vote of thanks was proposed by T.LakshmiSandhiya of X Std. Finally, the day came to a fine end by Kendra Prarthana.

            Vijayadhasami marks the end of Navaratri festival and this day signifies the victory of good over evil and the time for all positive beginnings.

            Vidhyarambham is a Hindu tradition observed on Vijayadhasami day all over India. On this day, the children are introduced into the world of knowledge, letters and process of learning.

            In our school, Vidyarambham celebration began on the fine morning of 15.10.2021 at 8.45 a.m. The ritual was initiated by Shri. R.Manikumar, teacher of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya with 3 Om’ Karas and ShanthiManthra. The welcome address was delivered by Smt.T.Maheswari, teacher of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya. Vidyarambham was carried out by Mann. Rekha Didi, Joint General Secretary of Vivekananda Kendra. Mann. Rekha Didi held the right index finger of the children and made them write ‘Om’ on the fistful of rice placed in a large plate. She delivered a beautiful oration highlighting the importance of the day. She quoted the legendary hero, Swami Vivekananda who has sheltered in the minds of the people and is revered equal to God for his strong will power, positivity of thought and his valuable message. She insisted us to have positive thoughts spread positive vibrations among the children, and guide them to unfold the obstacles that hinder their progress. The Pooja was performed by Smt.M.Nalarani, the Librarian of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya. The floral obeisance was paid to Goddess Saraswathi by all the participants. Vote of thanks was proposed by Smt. K.Kavitha, teacher of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya. Finally the day came to an end with Shanthi Mantra and distribution of prasadham to everyone present in the ritual.

            On the auspicious day of Saraswathi Pooja, the staff of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya and Nivedita Balwadi celebrated the day to seek the blessings of Goddess Saraswathi, who showers us with abundant knowledge and wisdom. The ritual started sharply at 9.30 a.m. with 3 Om’ Karas and shanthi manthra. The day was graced with the presence of the Secretary of VKVAPT, Mann. Aparna Didi and Sus.Bhuvaneswari Didi. All the participants sang Saraswathi Vandhana to invoke the divine’s blessing. The Pooja was performed by Shri. R. Sundara Kumar, the teacher of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya. The event came to a fine end with the distribution of prasadham to all the participants.

            One of the most important occasions in the history of our school calender is Universal Brotherhood Day. 51st Anniversary of the dedication of Vivekananda Rock Memorial to the nation and Universal Brotherhood Day was celebrated in our school on 11th September to commemorate the historic speech of Swami Vivekananda at the “World Parliament of Religions” held at chicago, America on 11th September 1893.

The festivity started at 3.30 p.m. in the Eknath hall with the GayathriManthra followed by the lighting of the lamp by Mann. D.Bhanudasji, General Secretary of Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra and Mann. Krishnamoorthiji, jeevanvridikaryakartha and the editor of ‘Vivekavani’. Shri. R.Manikumar, teacher invoked the blessings of the lord through a prayer song. A warm welcome was offered to all the participants by our PricipalShri.S.AbrahamLingom. Mann. D.Bhanudasji graced the function and delivered a power pact speech on the importance of the day. In his oration, he highlighted that each nation has a destiny to fulfil and we must prepare ourselves for the development of the nation. He quoted Swamiji who remarked “Each soul is pontentially divine” and instructed us to manifest the pontential divinity within us. He recalled Eknathji’s hard work and perseverance in the construction of Vivekananda Rock Memorial that stands majestically in the midst of the sea. He advised us to bring God in ourselves for the unity in the nation. He also instructed us to understand, remember, bring Swami Vivekananda in our lives, convey his rich message and play a role as good citizens of our nation. Chicago address was presented by I.Bavin of XII Standard.Some of our teachers sang a song praising the glory of Swami Vivekananda. Mann. Krishnamoorthiji also showered us with the words like pearls on this happiest occasion. He illustrated that Swami Vivekananda, “the crest jewel of India” was not a saint who lived in the past but a living legend whose words still serve as a motivation for the people. He quoted Swami Vivekananda who said, “In the future, people will not see a man as intelligent as the one who has given us Bhagavat Gita” praising the rich moral values found in it. He also referred the book “YezhuminVizhumin” where Swami Vivekananda ha instructed us to feed the starve and help him to stand on his own legs when he comes for the next time. He also advised us to bring out our hidden potentials to set forth a drastic change in the society. The staff who had completed 10,20 & 30 years of service in this service oriented organization were honoured by our dignitaries. Vote of thanks was proposed by our Vice Principal ,Smt.K.G.Sariga followed by the cultural programme of our teachers and students. The day came to a fine end with Kendra Prarthana led by Smt. S.Kalaivani, teacher. The programme was compered by Smt. T.Maheswari, teacher.

                Festivals educate, bring people together, break the monotony of routine and give us a chance to energise our body, mind and spirit.

            Ganesh Chathurthi is one of the Hindu festivals that marks the arrival of Lord Ganeshato the Earth who is considered the symbol of wisdom and the remover of obstacles. Ganesh Chathurthi was celebrated in our school on 10.09.2021 with the active participation of our Correspondent, Principal, Vice Principal & Teachers. We initiated the celebration sharply at 10 a.m. with 3 om’kars and shanthimanthra led by Shri. R.Manikumar, teacher of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya. All the participants sang songs to fill the air with the divine blessings of Lord Ganesha. Pooja was performed by Shri. R. Sundarakumar, teacher of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya and flowers were offered to Lord Ganesha by all the participants. Finally the day came to an end with the distribution of prasadham.

                Behind every successful person, a teachers’ contribution is significant an notable. Teachers’ day is observed in India on 5th September, the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radha Krishnan who was a philosopher, teacher the first Vice President of India and also the second President. We celebrated Teachers’ day on 4th September in our school. We initiated the celebration with 3 Om’kars and Shanti Mantra. Guru stothram was led by Smt. K.G.Sariga, the Vice Principal of VKV. Our Principal Shri. S.AbrahamLingom delivered the teacher’s day message. He instructed the teachres to recall their teachers and get their blessings on this auspicious occasion who helped to mould their life and personality. He also advised them to be grateful to their parents for uplifting them to a higher position in life. Finally he honoured the teachers with sweets and shawl. It was really a wonderful day for all the techers.

              “ Gokulashtami” celebrates the birth of Shri Krishna, the nineth avatar of Vishnu and “Rakshabandhan” glorifies the chaste bond between a brother and a sister.

             On the very fine day of 31-08-2021, we celebrated the twin festivals Gokulashtami and Rakshabandhan in our school sharply at 3 pm presided over by Mann. Hanumanta Raoji, Vice President of Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra. The master of ceremony was presented by Smt. Nalammal, Teacher. Smt. Saranya Teacher initiated the celebration with an invocation. Smt. Jeya Teacher delivered a speech on the importance of the day in which she highlighted Krishna’s life in the Brindhavan, importance of celebrating Gokulashtami and Rakshabandhan and the lesson we learn from Krishna’s life. All the teachers sang hymn in praise of Lord Krishna to invoke his divine blessings. Some of our teachers gave vivid explanation on the avatars of Lord Vishnu. Mann. Hanumanta Raoji, gave a clear cut explanation of dharma and adharma. He focussed on the importance of selfless action in his oration and quoted Swami Vivekananda who said that Dharma is doing something for a noble cause without selfishness. He pointed out “ The Bhagavat Gita” that reveals Krishna as a great teacher. He suggested each and every teacher to be Shri Krishna himself. He instructed us to inculcate goodness within us like Shri Krishna and guide the students to lead the way of dharma. As a part of Rakshabandhan celebration, Smt.Nalarani , Librarian tied the holy thread to Mann.Hanumanta Raoji and the Principal Shri. S.Abraham Lingom. Finally the celebration came to an end by Shanthi Manthra.

Raksha Bandhan Celebration At VK Kanyakumari

                               RAKSHA BANDHAN CELEBRATION

      Raksha Bandhan was celebrated in Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari on 23rd August 2021 at 10 am.

      The celebration was initiated by Mann. Krishna Moorthiji, Editor of Vivekavani, VRM & VK by lighting the lamp. He quoted many examples from puranas to explain the importance of Raksha Bandhan. He concluded his speech by telling that women should be respected and protected.

     Teacher Smt. Devika of VKV, Kanyakumari tied the holy thread for Mann. Krishna Moorthiji and for the lamp. Following that all the sisters tied the Rakhi for the brothers, shared sweets and got blessings. All the Kendra karyakarthas, life workers, staff of VRM, VK, NARDEP  and VKV took part in this celebration.

    The program was concluded by Shanthi Mantra followed by Kendra Prarthana.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION REPORT-2021

                “Thousands laid down their lives so that our country is breathing this day”.

            15th August has a special significance in the history of our nation. It was on this day, in 1947, India attained freedom from the strangle hold of the mighty British. All the Indians pay their tribute to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives and fought to free motherland.

            The programme was compered by Smt.S.Prema, Teacher of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya. We initiated our celebration in Vivekananda Kendra campus sharply at 8.30 AM by an invocation song ‘VandheMatharam’ by Sri.R.Manikumar , Teacher of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya. We paid our salutation to our Mother Bharath by unfolding our tricolor flag. The flag was hoisted by Mann. H.Angirasji, Senior Jeevan Vrudhi Karyakartha of Vivekananda Rock Memorial & Vivekananda Kendra. National anthem was sung by all the participants followed by the pledge. The welcome address was delivered by Smt. R. Venkadeshwariteacher.

            The teachers on Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya sang a patriotic song in our National language. Sri. R. Kannan, Teacher of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya addressed the gathering on the importance of the day. He highlighted the invasions of foreign nations into our country, attracted by our wealth and the sacrifice of our freedom fighters to free India.

            75th year Independence day sankalpa was presented by Smt. K.G. Sariga, Vice Principal in English followed by Smt. T.Maheswari, Teacher in Tamil. Vote of thanks was proposed by

Teacher V.K. Bowya. The programme was concluded by Kendra Prarthana.

             On 23rd july 2021 at 5.45pm Guru purnima was celebrated at Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari in the presence of General Secretary of VRM and VK, Mann. Bhanudasji at  Enath Bhavan. All India Vice President of Vivekananda Kendra, Mann. Niveditadidi spoke on India's Guru parampara.Our sisters sang Guru bhajan and Guru stotram.

 Verghese Kurien (26 November 1921 – 9 September 2012), known as the "Father of the White Revolution" in India, was a social entrepreneur whose "billion-liter idea", Operation Flood, made dairy farming India's largest self-sustaining industry and the largest rural employment sector providing a third of all rural income. It made India, the world's largest milk producer, doubled the milk available for each person, and increased milk output fourfold in 30 years.

He pioneered the Anand model of dairy cooperatives and replicated it nationwide, based on various "top-down" and "bottom-up" approaches, where no milk from a farmer was refused. Farmers controlled the marketing, procurement, and processing of milk and milk products as the dairy's owners.  He also made India self-sufficient in edible oils and fought against the "oil kings", who used underhanded and violent methods to enforce their dominance over the oilseed industry. Guru Poornima Programme by Vivekananda Kendra Prakashan Trust Chennai

 Vivekananda Kendra Prakashan Trust, Chennai had orgnanised Guru Poornima Programme on 25th July 2021 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. This programme also had an online option via zoom. VKPT karyakarthas, yoga satra and varga participants, SATYAM project participants attended the programme. The total no. of participants was 47 (including online and offline).

We had two special guests Ma. Susri. Gayathri Didi, our life worker and administrative officer of VKPT and Shri. Sudarshan, our Senior Karyakartha. Shri. Sudarshan spoke on the challenges faced by Sanatana Dharma today. He also included how Guru Parampara has been continuing till date. Ma. Gayathri didi spoke about Maa Sarada Devi and quoted life experiences of how Guru knows what to be given to each disciple at the appropriate time.

With the enlightening speeches, Vivekananda Kendra  Patrika on Bhagavad Gita Part 2 book was released in the programme by Ma. Gayathri Didi and the first copy was received by Prof. Shantha. Other recipients of the book were Sri. Raghav Shastri, Writer, Shri. Sankara Narayanan Ji, one of our well-wishers and Shri. Sudharshan.

            Guru Purnima, the festival dedicated to spiritual and academic teachers was celebrated in our school at 3.00 p.m on the 23rd of July 2021. The full moon day in the month of Ashadth of the Hindu calendar is celebrated as guru purnima. This day is also marked to pay our tribute to the great sage Vedavyasa who compiled the Vedas, eighteen puranas, the Mahabharatha and the Brahma Suthras.

            The programme was inaugurated by chanting 3 ‘om’ karas followed by the lighting of the lamp by Mann.Praveenji, All India Treasurer of Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra. Smt. Uma selvi, Teacher of VKV invoked the divine blessings of the almighty by an invocation song. The welcome address was delivered by Smt.Geetha, Teacher of VKV.

            “Guru is inspiration,guru is aspiration”. The teachers chanted guru stotram lead by Smt.Sariga, Vice Principal of VKV, Smt. Nallammal and Smt.Anuradha , Teachers of VKV to offer their salutations to the Lord, their spiritual guru.

            The presidential address was delivered by Mann.Pravenji, All India Treasurer of Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra. He explained vividly the meaning of ‘Guru’ and their role in bringing up the progress in the society. He insisted the teachers to carry out the tradition to their future generation. He brought to light the three stages of seva as propounded by Swami Vivikananda 1) to provide the basic needs 2) to provide educational survival to the upcoming children ie., they must earn the living by their own livelihood 3) to give guidance by which the people understand “Who am I?”. He instructed the teachers to aspire to be a teacher apart from their working hours. He quoted Sri Ramakrishna who chose Swami Vivekananda as his vehicle to spread the culture of “Sanadhana dharma”. He advised the teachers to follow the ideas said in the lectures and work on it in their own way.

            “Our obligations to our country never cease but with our own lives”. On this special occasion, we expressed our patriotic fervour by singing a patriotic song led by Sri.Manikumar, Teacher of VKV.

            The teachers offered their salutations to their spiritual guru by offering the flowers.

            “A grateful heart is a magnet for miracles”. Vote of thanks was proposed by Smt.Sumathi, Teacher of VKV, to all the noble souls who took part in the celebration. The programme was concluded by Kendra prarthana.
