Nani Oniya of VKV Ziro brings laurel to state

“ Unless my parents and teachers supported me, I would not have achieved this prestigious award”, said Nani Oniya the winner of 2nd National Level Exhibition & Project Competitions, 2012 organized at New Delhi by Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE), Ministry of Science and Technology, epartment of Science

and Technology, Govt. of India. Nani Oniya, daughter of Nani Tatung and Nani Yassey, a student of Class-X of VKV School, Ziro has brought laurels for the Ziro in particular and state as a whole by winning in 2nd National Level Exhibition & Project Competitions, 2012.

In honour of her achievements, the Ziro VKV school authority has organized a photo session programme on Tuesday where Oniya shared her experience.

“In the year 2011, when I was in class IX, my class teacher informed me of the district level exhibition competition particularly for those who stood first position in class-VIII & Class-IX exam. As I have passed Class VIII in first position, I along with the topper of class IX, who is now in class X, were selected for participating the district level INSPIRE competition. Accordingly, under the guidance of our teachers, we were participated the competition and stood topper and selected for state level competition,” said Oniya.

As state level was schedule during our school vacation, my mother accompanied me to Itanagar for taking part in the competition. In state level too, the model presented by me had impressed the judges. However I stood in 6th position. As per Govt. of India instruction, the State level competitors of upto sixth ranks could participate the national level INSPIRE competition. As such, I prepared for the national level.

Finally in the month of November this year, the national level competition was held at New Delhi where I presented a model on ‘Balcony Composting’ with a theme: Science, Society and Environment and with sub-theme ‘Agriculture’.

Impressed on my innovative model, the judges selected me as first for the Arunachal Pradesh. Selection of the rank is awarded amongst the participants of a state but not on national basis. Accordingly, I was awarded first prize for Arunachal Pradesh in 2nd National Level Exhibition & Project Competitions-2012, she added.

After narrating details of her participations, she expressed her gratitude to principal and teachers of VKV, Ziro and her parents for the valuable guidance and inspiration which helped her to win the award. Overjoyed with the success of Oniya, Anand Mohan Mishra, principal of the school said that they will produce more Onyia from his school for bringing more laurels to school in near future. He wished that Oniya brings more innovative for presenting in international level in future.

Later, while displaying the model presented by Oniya at New Delhi, Principal explained in brief on importance of “Balcony composting”. Gardening is one of the hobbies that bring you close to the nature or environment. Today the cities are growing fast and space around us is decreasing. Though you are interested in gardening, you may not have land to practice it. So, the Balcony Gardening with the help of composting kitchen refuse in balcony may help you to practice.

National Unity Day Celebration - VKV Roing

The 139th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as RASHTRIYA EKTA DIWAS (NATIONAL UNITY DAY) was observed on 31st October in VKV, Roing with proper sprit and a good programme was conducted on the day. A Marathon “Run for Unity” was organized by the District Administration in the lieu. In which Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Roing - students, teachers along other schools participated in the “Run for Unity”. Everybody assembled in the General ground at 7. 00 A.M. Honourable Shri Mukut Mithi , MP, Rajya Sabha flagged off the run. 

Later in the day Principal of DIET, Roing was invited in the school as guest speaker to address the students on the importance of the day, life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and his contribution to the nation. An immense impression was felt by the guest speech upon the assembled. The pledge was led by guest of speaker and the students and teaching staff were also administered pledge to dedicate themselves to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation.

Later in the day Principal of DIET, Roing was invited in the school as guest speaker to address the students on the importance of the day, life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and his contribution to the nation. An immense impression was felt by the guest speech upon the assembled. The pledge was led by guest of speaker and the students and teaching staff were also administered pledge to dedicate themselves to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation.

Other activities which were observed are:

A drawing competition was held on the following topic “United India”, and Sketch of forgotten fighters of freedom movement.

A cleaning campaign under the programme of NSS unit was also organized by the school keeping the motive of “Swachh Bharat-Swachh Vidyalaya Campaign”

Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalayas Arunachal Pradesh Trust September Month Report

In a forest, a pregnant deer is about to give birth. She finds a remote grass field near a strong-flowing river. This seems a safe place. Suddenly labor pain begins. At the same moment, dark clouds gather around above and lightning starts a forest fire. She looks to her left and sees a hunter with his extended bow pointing at her. To her right, she spots a hungry lion approaching her. What can the pregnant deer do? She is in labor! What will happen? Will the deer survive? Will she give birth to a fawn? Will the fawn survive? Or will everything be burnt by the forest fire? Will she perish to the hunter's arrow? Will she die a horrible death at the hands of the hungry lion approaching her? She is constrained by the fire on one side and the flowing river on the other and boxed in by her natural predators. What does she do? She focuses on giving birth to a new life.

The sequence of events that follows are: - Lightning strikes and blinds the hunter - He releases the arrow which zips past the deer and strikes the hungry lion - It starts to rain heavily, and the forest fire is slowly doused by the rain. The deer gives birth to a healthy fawn. In our life too, there are moments of choice when we are confronted from all corners with negative thoughts and possibilities.

We too, in our work place face so many challenges. But having strong faith in what we do and focusing entire energy in the ‘Punya Karya” we can  overcome all the obstacles one by one. The just ended month was eventful and also posed some challenging situations. Let me write down the highlights of the happening of the September for the information of all:-Children’s Film Festivals: - We could organize a unique programme in collaboration with Cine Darbaar (A Welfare Society working in the field of art & culture having the Head office at Delhi) which is the empanelled agency of Children’s Film Society of India (Ministry of Information and Broadcasting). The programme named as ‘Traveling Players’ was conducted in VKV- Nirjuli, Vivek Vihar, Itanagar, Ziro and Yazali from 1 st to 6 th September 2014. Screening of films, conducting competitions like review and quiz and interactive sessions were the highlights of the programme.

Participation of Principals in 5 Day Leadership Training Program: 6 Principals namely Shri. S.C.Dixit, VKV- Itanagar, Shri. Panchanan Tripathy, VKV- Nirjuli, Shri. K.Jayashankar, VKV-Jairampur, Shri Ananda Mohan Mishra, VKV-Ziro, Shri. Ashim Kumar Banik, VKV Shergaon and Smt. Reena Sivadasan from VKV Tafrogam attended a Leadership Training Program organized by CBSE from 14 th to 19 th September 2014 at Kaziranga University, Jorhat. The Program saw the presence and guidance of many CBSE officials and experts from diverse fields among who the notables are: Shri Vineet Joshi, Chairman, CBSE; Dr Sadhana Parasar, Professor and Director of Training and Research, other Resource persons of CBSE and many other Principals from different schools of North East. Many important topics like Accreditation and Quality Enhancement in Schools, Collaborative Management, Holistic Education, Motivational Leadership and Teacher Education, Flip Classroom, Leadership Styles- Role and Competencies, Assessment of Speaking and listening, Capacity Building through Visual Medium etc. were covered.

CCE Master Trainers Workshop: A 3 days ‘CCE – Master Trainers’ Workshop was held at VKV Jairampur from 22 nd September to 24 th September, 2014. 42 selected teachers attended the workshop from 29 Middle, Secondary and Higher Secondary VKVs, out of which 7 are Principals. Sri Satya Prakash Verma from ‘Vidya Institute of Training And Development’, Meerut, an empanelled agency of CBSE, was the Resource Person. The workshop, dealt with three aspects of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE): Concept of CCE, Life Skills and Values & Attitude. Held on the eve of ‘Mananeeya Eknathji Janma Sati Parva’, which is scheduled to bestarted from November, 2014 onwards, the workshop will definitely help to consolidate and strengthen our academic performance. These selected teachers after training in this workshop, are expected to conduct workshops in their own schools and neighborhood schools to give impetus to the evaluation Programme.

Illustration of Textbooks by VKV Teachers (Resource sharing with Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh): Two of our Fine Art teachers namely Sri Titan Dey and Su Popy Dutta were deputed to illustrate the textbooks of EVS Graded Reader for Class I and II prepared by SCERT with the guidance of experts in a five days workshop from 8 th to 12 th September, at SCERT Auditorium, Itanagar. Both the illustrated copies are getting finalized and will soon go to print.

Celebration of Teacher’s Day: All the VKVs of Arunachal Pradesh celebrated Teacher’s Day in a grand manner. Many students of VKVs like Ziro, Itanagar, Nirjuli, Basar etc participated in the Essay Writing Competition conducted by the Ministry of Human Resource, Govt. of India on the occasion. In addition to the regular programs, maximum number of schools made arrangement to screen the speech and the interactions of Sri Narendra Modi, honorable Prime Minister of India.

Large number of VKV students and staff watched the Program telecasted on TV. Celebration of Universal Brotherhood day: All the VKVs of Arunachal Pradesh celebrated Universal Brotherhood Day in a befitting manner. Students presented various programs which were witnessed by large number of parents and well wishers. Many dignitaries also graced the occasion in many VKVs. Term I Exam and midterm Break: Students of VKVs have appeared in the Summative Assessment-I from 19 th September to 26 th September and have gone for the Mid Term Break up to 5 th October.

Activity of Snehavardhini, Nirjuli: - Snehavardhini unit of VKV- Nirjuli conducted an Orientation meeting of women of NEEPCO colony in which 110  women participated. Activities of Snehavardhini, talk on Mananeeya Eknathji and Vivekananda Kendra, programme planned for Mananeeya Eknathji Janma Shati Parva, question and answer etc were the important activities of the programme.

VKVs of Arunachal Pradesh have emerged as the best in the State level Science Seminar, 2014 by occupying all the tree top positions. The result of the same has been given below:

The State Level Science Seminar was held in the auditorium of Dera Natung Govt College, Itanagar on 30 August, 2014, which was graced by many dignitaries and scholars.  15 district toppers competed in the State Level competition out of which 9 were from VKVs which were the toppers in the respective District.

Swami Vivekananda always stressed the need of the harmonious development of heart and head in Education. We have many activities for the cognitive development but very few for the heart. We need to aim that our children and co –workers feel secured and loved and for that we should be affectionate towards them. The growth of the heart is possible only when one is aware of the needs of the people around.

Children are to be taught to gradually expand their capacity to love. Beginning with their family, it should eventually be extended to the school, community, the country and the whole world, including birds of the air and beast of the field.  Let us all make good efforts to cultivate this qualities in us, so that our children learn the same from us. Speaking gently and wherever needed firmly but not angrily, strengthening the individual potentiality and capability etc are required.  Let us learn to love and spread love.

Statistical details of our schools -a glance:-

We have the strength of 12138 students on roll in 33 schools spreading across the state for the current academic session. Out of which 9711 students are Arunachali students. We have 2874 hostellers for the current session.  There are 524 Teachers now andthe teachers – students’ratio is 1:23. Our Supporting Staff number is 214. Out of the total strength the Boys occupy 52.13 % and the Girls 47.86 %

VKVAPT Team Meeting: - The meeting of VKVAPT Team consisting of cluster in charges & Administrative committee members was held on 1st and 2nd of July at Dibrugarh. Teachers’ recruitment, activities for the session 2014-15, administrative matters related to schools, Affiliation and various pending matters were discussed in the two days meeting.  On 3rd July, The Administrative committee meeting was held to finalize various matters discussed in the Team meeting.

Principals’ Meet:  The first Principal Meet of this session was convened from 6th to 8th July in VKV Dibrugarh.  Thirty one Principals and two Vice- Principals were present in the meeting. The meeting was graced by Mananeeya Sri. Hanumanta Raoji, All India Treasurer, Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, Dr. Tejum Paduji, Trustee, VKVAPT, Sri Rupesh Mathurji, Prant Sangathak, VK Arunachal Prant and other VKVAPT members.

The meeting started with Swadhaya on selected topic from the book “Eknathji” on 6th evening. The inaugural session was on 7th morning in which Mananeeya Shri Pravinji gave the key note address. The minute academic result analysis of the session 2013-14 and preparing the action plan for the current session based on the discussion, address of Dr Tejum Paduji, session on Academic Planning, Karyapaddhati of Vivekananda Kendra, academic circulars and discussion on Activity Calendar for the session, Mananeeya Eknathji Janma Shati Parva, briefing on the administrative matters etc were the important highlights of the meeting. In the concluding function, Mananeeya Hanumanta Raoji and Pravinji addressed the gathering.

Workshops for the Principals’: A one day workshop was conducted on 9th July for the Principals of the VKVs of Arunachal Pradesh.  Smt Maya Choudhary, a widely known educationist and recipient of National Award for Teachers was the main resource person of the Workshop. The topics like, the multifaceted role of a school Principal, different techniques for smooth Administration, effective implementation of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation were covered in the Workshop. Minute analysis on some case studies of some schools of India brought home many crucial points to the fore which a Principal should be cautious of.  The apt denouement with the story of Spencer Johnson ‘Who moved My Cheese’, she left the message that changing scenario calls for  constant change to prepare one  to embrace transformation to impart best education .She could satisfactorily answer any exigent questions  that were posed in the question answer session. The workshop was beneficial to all as it helped all to think deeply on various aspects of education and role of Principals.

Life Skill Development Workshop for the Students:  We could conduct Life Skill Development workshops in VKV- Jairampur and Kharsang with the help of the Resource Persons from Sun [at] beam.inc, a Training Provider having the headquarters at Kolkata. Tips for stress management, time management, study techniques, Healthy food habits, Memory Enhancement Techniques, Ways to keep our Brain active, Effective Communication were some of the topics covered in the Workshop. Conducted in an interactive mode, students participated actively in both the venues. Shri Ananda Dutta from VKVAPT attended the workshops in both the venues.

New Hostel Block in VKV- Nirjuli: - A Hostel block having the capacity of admitting 50 Girls was consecrated with the Ganapati Homa on 13th July 2014.  The new hostel block is constructed on the 3rd Floor of VKV- Nirjuli main building.  After the Ganapati Homa, a parents’ meeting of the hostellers was held from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm at VKV- Nirjuli.

Illumination by Guest Faculties: -Smt. Bhavesh Bhaveja and Dr. Naliniben Mehta retired Professors visited VKV Tafrogam, Sunpura, Amliang and Tezu from 11th to 18th of July. Both the faculties having wide experience in teaching could illuminate the students and the staffs of all the four schools on various subjects. In VKV Tafrogam, Sunpura and Amliang, Science classes were taken with practical.  Interesting laboratory experiments were also demonstrated to the students. In addition to the subject classes, the faculties also narrated interesting motivational stories to the students. Both the guest faculties were escorted by Sri P. K. Pandey, member VKVAPT. The guests were quite enthralled by the dedications of the staffs and the discipline of the students. Students also presented Cultural program and band show before the guest faculties.

Visit of Sri Arvind Rajaram Gore: Shri. Arvind R Gore, noted educationist and freelance education consultant visited VKV- Itanagar, Nirjuli &Vivek Vihar on 22nd to 25thJuly.  He interacted with the staff and students and made assessment about the functioning of these schools. His assessment will be analyzed and used for the betterment of the schools.  

Visits:- Shri Krishna Kumar, Shri  Nitin Jain and Sri Unnikrishnan made  visits to their respective cluster schools in the month of June and July. Shri S.N.S Reddy and Shri Ananda Mohan Mishra along with the cluster Accountant visited Subansiri cluster schools. Dr. Tejum Paduji visited VKV- Jirdin and attended the meeting of well-wishers and Land donors.

Dear Sisters and brothers let us focus all our energy for the growth and development of our students. Academic Excellence, Congenial Atmosphere in the school and Self Discipline are the strong points of VKVs in Arunachal Pradesh and they are complementary to each other. Laudable performance of VKVs in the State level Science Exhibition

VKVs have occupied the chunk of the top positions in the State level Science Exhibition,2013 organized by Directorate of Secondary Education, GoAP in collaboration with NCERT, New Delhi held at the Govt. Higher Secondary School Library Hall, Itanagar  on 18 December,2013 on the topic - "Scientific and Mathematical Innovations" under five sub-theme - Agriculture, Health, Resource, Environment and  Energy.  Altogether ten teams from eight VKVs (VKVs Sher, Jirdin, Oyan, Roing, Amliang, Bana, Vivek Vihar and Ziro) which were the winner of the respective districts participated in the state level.

Matrusammelan in Oyan village

As a prelude to the planned programmes under Samvardhini, which is one of the five ayams of Sardha  Shati Samaroh of Swami Vivekananda, the “Snehavardhini” group (a group-team of wives of Staff of the school) of VKV Oyan organised a Matru Sammelan for the mothers of Oyan village. 35 mothers participated in the programme.

It is always is a matter of great moment to know the performance of former students. Now in the present trend, the schools are going to be evaluated not only on the academic results made by the schools, but also the performance of students in later part of their academic career. Kum. Poonam Agarwal became first rank holder in B.Com from Dibrugarh University by securing 85.86% of marks.  We also have the information that 12 students have cleared JEE.


Visit of faculty


Shri. Arun Dixita renowned Scientist in the field of Organic chemistry, Mumbai contributed his valuable service in the form of teaching Chemistry to Secondary and Higher secondary students for a week in VKV- Shergaon. He was asked to clear certain doubts and also give wider dimensions of the subject. His presence gave a great learning experience to the students and staff.

Km. Nani Oniya , Class IX  students of VKV-Ziro has been selected  to participate in National Level INSPIRE (INNOVATION IN SCIENCE PURSUIT FOR INSPIRE RESEARCH")  Science Exhibition which will be conducted by the Ministry of Science and Technology Department, New  Delhi.

VKV- Kuporijo is all set to get a new face lift

A massive construction programme which is being undertaken by VKVAPT is all set to give a new face to the school building. The Construction is expected to be completed by the end of this month.  This face lift will add a new spirit to the 25 year celebration of VKV Kuporijo.


Have fire and spread all over.  Work, work, be the servant while leading.  Be unselfish, and never listen to one friend in private accusing another.  Have infinite patience, and success is yours. .... 14th APS was conducted at the Kendra Head Quarters, Kanyakumari. 118 teachers participated in the 25 days Shibir. The state wise details of the participants are given below.

It was an enriching experience for the organising committee members. The enthusiasm and eagerness to learn shown by the participants are exemplary. Km. Nivedita Didi, Vice President, VK, took a series of classes on Bharatiya Sanskriti. So also Shri.P.M. Unnikrishnan, EO, on Micro Teaching and Guidance and Counselling. Dr.N.Gopalakrishnanji, Mananeeya Bhanudasji, Shri. Satishji, Shri. Deepak Khaire and Shri.Hanumanta Raoji took sessions on various themes to enrich the Participants. The enthusiasm shown by the participants loudly proclaimed that teachingis a passion and a calling for them.  Words fail to appreciate the work of Shri. Madhubal, Teacher VKV- Oyan, Shri. Omanakuttan, Principal – VKV Bana, Shri. Kamalakant, Regional Administrative Officer VKSPV, who have volunteered to become the members of organising committee to make the Shibhir successful.

Workshop for Mess In charges and Cooks:

With a view of improving the quality of our students’ Mess, we could conduct a two days’ workshop at VKV- Oyan on 26th and 27th of May.  Shri. Krishna Kumar, Cluster in charge of Lohit and Tirap clusters, Jayshree Didi, Vanaprasthi Karyakarta, Dr. Manumat Chai were the resource persons who couldfocus on the aspects of  Mess administration & Accounting, Nutritious aspect of cooking, Different recipes for students’ mess, cleanliness, Guest Care, economic usage of fuels and maintenance of various gadgets, etiquettes in students’ mess. It was nice to see that Senior Bhayyas like KambuTisso, Govind Swamy, Parashuram Magar guiding the junior bhaiyyas like Ram Singh, Putul Hazarika  and so on it give an assurance that the legacy of selfless work is being passed on to new generation and the holy work would go on and on.

VKV- Nirjuli consecrated:

It was a great moment for our Well-wishers, 1400 students of VKV Nirjuli and their parents as the Vastupooja of VKV- Nirjuli conducted on 30th May in a small but befitting ceremony. Hon’ble Minister Education, Shri. Bosiram Siram, Revered Partha Maharaj of RK Mission hospital, Itanagar, Dr. Joram Begi, Pranta Pramukh of Vivekananda Kendra, Dr.Tejum Padu, Trustee VKVAPT, Sri.Rupesh Mathur, Pranta Sanghathak were present for the programme. The formal inauguration of the building will be done later. It is pleasant experience to walk on the corridors three storeyed building which can accommodate more than 1500 students. While walking on the corridors I was gratefully remembering the persons worked day and night to erect such structure to contribute their share to impart quality education. The names of generous donors like Smt.Vimalatai Ghanekar, Sudhamurthy, Rangutai Padhye, and many more came to my mind. The great work of collecting resources by our elders, Asnikar kaka of VK Pune, etc flashed through many of our mind.

Harmony-The Annual Magazine of VKV Ziro

'Harmony' Vol.II, The Annual Magazine of VKV Ziro was released on 15th March 2012 by Smty Nila Mohanan, Deputy Commissioner, Lower Subansiri District. She appreciated VKVs for selfless work. In her address she said lot of officers of Arunachal Pradesh either from VKV, RKM or Sharda Mission. No one can forget the contribution of these Institutions. They are playing pivotal role in the field of education. She appealed to students to be become good citizens of our Motherland. She stressed that students should inculcate good habits and character. At the time of releasing Sri Yachang Tacho, Editor , "The Subansiri" newspaper was also present.

 

Harmony Vol.ii, The Annual Magazine of VKV Ziro

VKV BALIJAN STUDENT EXCEL IN STATE LEVEL SCIENCE SEMINAR

Department of School Education in collaboration with BITM National Council of Science Museums-Kolkata, organized a State level seminar on the theme ‘Chemistry for human welfare-promises and concerns’ at Itanagar today.

Altogether, 14 participants from various schools of the state participated the seminar.

Osunam Pangam of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Balijan was adjudged winner of the State level Science seminar-2011, while, Jamlar Kojam Tungi of Eklavya Model Residential School (VKV), Bana and Sangeeta Das of Intaya Public School, Roing bagged second and third prizes respectively.

Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, professor H S Yadav, Department of Chemistry, NERIST said: “The topic of Chemistry is universal in nature and is closely linked with every life form and its origin in universe” while highlighting on the importance of chemistry in human life. Giving detailed information on the topic ‘Chemistry for human welfare-promises and concerns’, Professor Yadav wholeheartedly lauded the participants for inculcating scientific temperament. However, he regretted over the lack of Power Point Presentation system during the seminar, which would have added more live to the presentation.

Yadav appealed the education department to impart knowledge on Power Point system to the students so as to make them ready for various national level competitions too. He also expressed concerned over less participations of students of govt school and urged the DSE to make it mandatory for every govt schools to send their representatives.

Director of School Education T Taloh emphasized on judicious use of Science knowledge for the greater interest of the humanity. He also called upon the students to develop scientific temperament to excel in life besides bringing laurels to the State.

Earlier, the participants presented their papers on the topic and highlighted on contributions of chemistry in human lives such as health care, agriculture productions, industries and social activities and also its ill effects because of its over exploitation as well as people’s negligence.
