Vivekananda Jayanti at Kangra, Himachal Pradesh

Maj Gen. V.K Yadav with swami Ganashanand and Dr. Anil ChohanVivekananda Kendra, Kangra Branch celebrated Vivekananda Jayanti on 12 Jan 2012 in a very special way.


On this occasion, VK Kangra honoured close associates of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on this day. The persons honoured were Yudhbir Chand Katoch (88 years), Hoshiyar Singh (96 years) of village Brar Dhera, Hoshiyar Singh Thapa (92 years) of Dharamshala, Babar Singh (90 years) of Dharamshala and Rattan Singh (93 years) of Charri village. All were freedom fighters and were part of the Indian National Army. It was an emotional scene in the auditorium when tears trickled down the cheeks of the entire audience in the jam packed hall when details of their sacrifices were narrated.
Twelve meritorious students of different schools were also given awards in connection with a MCQ Competition, which was organized by Vivekananda Kendra on December 11, 2011, in connection with the birth day of Mananiya Shri Ekanath Ranade by Maj. Gen VK Yadav, Shauorya Chakra, the Chief of the Staff HQ 9 Core of Rising Star Corps. In this competition more than two thousand students of different schools from different districts of Himachal Pradesh had participated. The program was conducted at the Govt. Polytechnic College auditorium.



Group Photos with Azad Hind Fauz Freedom Fighters Speaking on the occasion Sri Yadav urged the youth of the region to come forward and participate whole heartedly in nation building. He also urged the gathering to walk on footsteps of Swami Vivekananda to build a strong, vibrant and fully developed India. Gen Yadav said, "Every one of us has to be bold, strong, fearless, hardworking and knowledgeable like Vivekananda with supreme urge of self sacrifice for bringing back the lost glories of our great Nation". The Acharya of Chinmayanand Mission, Swami Gangashanand ji, who presided over the function deliberated on relevance of Swami Vivekananda's teachings in the present scenario and blamed the entire society including the parents of the children for their failure to keep the young generation close to the national ethos. The Principal of Dr. R.P.Government medical College Tanda, Dr. Anil Chohan who was the guest of honour on the occasion, asked the youth to peep into the treasure of teachings of Swami Vivekananda in order to achieve the purpose of life in right perspective.
Sri Ashok Raina of Vivekananda Kendra spoke about the activities of Vivekananda Kendra at the national and the state level. He gave a call to the youth to join Vivekananda Kendra. Bhajans were sung by Shri Gopal Puri and his group from 'Sadha Shiv Mandir' Kangra. The program concluded with Kendra Prathana led by Anil Shama and followed by all.
