MATHEMATICS TEACHERS ORIENTATION CAMP CONDUCTED BY VKSPV


Mathematics Teachers Orientation Camp conducted by VKSPV, Guwahati at VKV Dibrugarh from 2nd August to 4th August 2014.

The camp for maths teachers started on 2nd August and concluded on 4th August. This shibir has been organized by VKSPV guwahati for strengthening the mathematics department of VKV’s. There were 42 participants from 18 VKV’s of Assam, 1 VKV of Nagaland and 2 VKV’s of Arunachal Pradesh. Out of 42 participants 28 were brothers and 14 were sisters. There were total 12 technical sessions in the shibir taken by resource persons.

Dr. Vasant Barve, by profession a civil engineer, founder Principal of KK Wagh Engineering College, Nasik, Maharastra also a student of IIT Mumbai.

Dr. Basant Barve sir enlightened on the new mathematics software Geogebra. ie how the use of geogebra can make the teaching learning process easy and joyful.

Dr. PK Chourasia sir took session on the resources to build capability of mathematics teachers. In his sessions he taught how to use inductive and deductive reasoning in mathematical proofs. He emphasized on creating logical thinking abilities of the students. He taught us enquiry based learning and art of problem solving and posing and its different aspects, Number sense and teachers’ role etc.
Other than these there was a session on how to maintain the continuous comprehensive evaluation (CCE) records.

There was a good interactive session where teachers could clarify their doubts regarding the basic concept of maths.

Apart from this as all of us know that yoga is the core of Vivekananda Kendra. Yogasanas were practiced  in the morning at 6 am to keep  body and mind fit.

In the concluding session on 4 August , Dr Sharat Kakati, Prof, Dept of Statistics, Dibrugarh University was present as the chief guest.
