Krishna Jeyanthi is celebrated on the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha of the month of shravana in the Hindu calendar. Rasa lila, dramatic enactments of the life of Krishna, are a special feature in regions of Mathura and Vrindavan. The tradition, also known as Uriyadi is a major event in Tamil Nadu on Gokulashtami. The next important celebration is Rakshabandhan in Sanskrit literally means the tie or knot of protection. Once the Rakhi has been tied, the sister says a prayer for the well being of good health, prosperity and happiness.

In our school Gokulashtami and Rakshabandhan festivals were celebrated in a grand manner. The programme started at 2.30 p.m. On that happiest occasion we initiated our programme by an invocation song sung by VII standard girls. The welcome address was presented by Priyanka of IX standard student.

“The celebration of the day has got its unique importance”. S.Murugesh of IX standard student delivered the speech in English about the importance of the day.

The students of VIII standard sang a sweet song. We had an eminent chief guest Yogeshwari Vidhyapuri Mathaji from Nettan code Ashram. She expressed her views about the importance of Krishna Avathar and Rakshabandhan. She explained the students to stand for Dharma and to defeat Adharma. She advised the students to give equal importance for the knowledge and character.

Our school students Mathisha, Asha and Selva Subin tied the Rakhi to the honourable chief guest, special guest and principal.

Our special guest Krishna Moorthiji, the Editor of vivekavani addressed the gathering. He expressed his views about the importance of the day. He narrated the story named Krishna Dhas. He advised the students to have faith in God and God is always with us. He told the students to have good knowledge, to be kind to others and to do good deeds.

Our special guest presented the memento to our honourable chief guest. “Dance is hidden language of the soul. Welcoming in words makes a joy to ears.” The students of I to IV standard performed a wonderful dance in Uriyadi.

Priya Varshini of XI standard delivered the vote of thanks. The programme was concluded Kendra prayer.
