Universal Brotherhood Day Celebration at Chennai

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu Prant, Chennai Valmiki Nagar branch, organized Universal Brotherhood Day celebrations at Veera Savarkar Nethaji Matriculation School, Kolathur, Chennai, to commemorate Swami Vivekananda’s historic address at the Parliament of Religions in Chicago in 1893.

The program held on 11th September 2025 was presided over by Smt. Thangalakshmi Akka, Tamil Nadu Prant Pramukh, VRM & VK, and Shri. V.V. Balasubramanian AnnaPrant Toli Member, Tamil Nadu Prant.

As part of the celebrations, a quiz competition on freedom fighters was conducted for Class X students by Shri. Bala Anna. The students enthusiastically participated, actively responding to the questions, and displayed their knowledge of the nation’s history.

Following the quiz, Shri. Sudharsan AnnaKaryakarta from Chennai, addressed the gathering on the significance of Universal Brotherhood Day. In his speech, he highlighted the enduring relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings on unity, harmony, and the spirit of oneness. Students listened with keen interest and engaged wholeheartedly with the ideas shared.

Prizes were distributed to the winners of the quiz competition, and books from Kendra Publications were presented as a means to encourage reading and self-development among the students.

A total of 73 participants incluing 29 boys, 35 girls, 5 teachers, and 4 Karyakartas participated in the program. The event concluded with spirited interactions and reflections on how Swamiji’s vision continues to guide young minds today.

The celebration not only paid tribute to Swamiji’s message at Chicago but also created an atmosphere of inspiration and learning, motivating students to carry forward the ideals of Universal Brotherhood in their personal lives.
