Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu Prant, Rural Development Programme (VKRDP), Vallioor Branch, organised a grand Thiruvilakku Puja (Deepa Puja) at Sri Valaiguruswami Temple – Balashethram, Kommadikottai, on 2nd September 2025.
The auspicious event commenced with the lighting of the mother lamp, symbolising the beginning of the puja. The honour of inaugurating the ceremony was carried out by Smt. Kanaga Ponmalar, Smt. Swarna Kala Devi, Smt. Lakshmibai (Samugrangapuram), Smt. Kalavathy (Usarathukudieruppu), and Smt. Vaanila (Vallioor).
The occasion was further blessed by the revered presence of All India Adhikaris of Vivekananda Kendra. Mananeeya Shri Bhanudas ji, All India General Secretary of VRM & VK, offered the Aasirvachan (benedictory address), while Mananeeya Shri Hanumantharao ji, All India Vice President of VRM & VK, extended his blessings to the gathering.
Adding to the inspiration of the day, Smt. Janaki Pushpam, Tirunelveli District Incharge of VKRDP, and Smt. Vaanila, Professor at T.D.M.N.S College, T.Kallikuzham, addressed the devotees, stressing the significance of cultural awakening and the role of women in preserving spiritual traditions.
Shiksharthis undergoing training at Kanyakumari also joined the ceremony. The highlight of the cultural segment was a conversational drama titled “Wake up Hindus”, presented by the Kendra Sisters, which drew enthusiastic appreciation from the audience.
The puja rituals were meticulously conducted by Kendra sisters Smt. Deivanai, Smt. Lalitha, and Smt. Raji. With devotion and discipline, 501 women from 30 villages participated, offering prayers for the welfare of the nation, the prosperity of culture, and world peace.
The programme was well coordinated by Shri Shanmugabharathy ji along with dedicated RDP Vallioor branch volunteers, ensuring smooth execution and active community participation.
