Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu Prant, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Vallioor (VKV-Vallioor), celebrated the Universal Brotherhood Day in a grand manner on 11th September 2025 in the school premises. The programme, presided over by the Principal Smt. S. Esakkiammal @ Devi, featured Dr. J. Gandhiraman, M.E., Ph.D., Professor, Lord Jegannath College of Engineering, Nagercoil, as the Chief Guest. A total of 900 participants, including 872 students and 28 parents, attended the celebration.
The programme commenced with a prayer song dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Correspondent, and Principal. Student Shri Azhagiya Nambi of Class VIII extended a warm welcome to the gathering, which was followed by a graceful Bharatanatyam performance. Students then staged a drama depicting two life incidents from Swami Vivekananda’s life.
A conversation presented by students Shri M. Gopi and Shri A. Karthi of Class XI highlighted the significance of Universal Brotherhood Day and elaborated on the story of the construction of the Vivekananda Rock Memorial. Tamil teacher Smt. V. Thilaga read the translated Universal Brotherhood Day message from Mananeeya Nivedita Didi, All India Vice President of VRM & VK, along with Swami Vivekananda’s 1897 Chennai address. This was followed by a soulful song on Swamiji by the students.
The Chief Guest Dr. Gandhiraman addressed the gathering, sharing inspiring thoughts that deeply resonated with the students. The programme also featured a vibrant dance performance. The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks and the Kendra Prarthana.
As part of spreading the fragrance of this occasion, competitions were conducted in nearby schools, and winners were awarded prizes, extending the spirit of Universal Brotherhood beyond the campus.
