This is an opportunity to recollect the snippets of good things which add to the fragrance of the ‘National Yajna’ of Man Making. Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari organized a Shibir for the selected youth in the name of “Sarthak Yuva Samartha Bharat”. It was a great feeling of oneness and full of energy when 500 Youth from various parts of our Motherland gathered with a purpose of dedicating some part of their life for the good of the society through Vivekananda Kendra. The well planned shibir was conducted on 25th, 26th & 27th of December.
There are many such good things to share about the VKVs of Arunachal Pradesh.
It was reported that Smt. Bindu Nair from VKV- Jairampur took lead in teaching the primary class students at least 50 nursery rhymes as an additional activity. The persistent efforts of the teachers have borne fruit and it has come to such pass that any student from the Primary section of that school is now can recite any of the 50 Nursery songs without difficulty.
Another report was the initiative of Sri R. Murugan, Principal, VKV Dollungmukh to give exposure to the Class III students which is the highest class in the newly opened school. The school could arrange a visit of the students to witness the bombing of planes at the Indian Air Force Firing Range Unit (2AFRU) located at Kolaptukar. In the well planned visit, before the bombing, Sri. Rakesh Kumar Verma, the Joint Warrant Officer of the unit interacted with the students and replied to number of questions from the inquisitive students. The Unit made adequate arrangement in the watch tower to witness the bombing. It is a classic example for VKVs’ effort to help the students to explore local knowledge source. It is with the Principle that a child who is getting his/her education should have good understanding about the immediate surroundings.
The third report was the alumni meet organized by Sneha Vardhini group of VKV- Nirjuli. The alumni were quite nostalgic in sharing their experience in VKVs.They were given the orientation about the latest of activities of schools and Vivekananda Kendra. The efforts of the schools to make the directory of the alumni and conducting the meeting of them are picking up the momentum which is essential for the development of any school.
The quick responses of the schools to any Programme and assignments are notable. There are many examples for these. One of the examples is the effort of the Secondary and Higher Secondary schools to participate in “Ishan Vikash Programme’ which is launched by Ministry of Human Resource. The schools have responded to the direction of Education Officer to register the school’s name within 24 hours and 14 schools got opportunity to take their students to premiere educational institutions of the country. The schools which availed this opportunity are Itanagar, Nirjuli, Balijan, Sher, Ziro, Yazali, Kuporijo, Jirdin, Kharsang, Jairampur, Tafrogam, Sunpura, Roing &Amliang. 10 students from each school were taken to IITs of Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Kharagupur; Delhi& IISER’s of Bangalore, Bhopal etc. and stayed 15 days in the campus to attend various sessions on Science & Technology by eminent Faculties.
As usual let me jot down the important activities conducted during the month of December.
