Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Hyderabad Vibhag, Baghlingampally Branch, in association with AVOPA and Shankar Mutt, successfully organized Gita Jayanti Celebrations on Sunday, 7 December 2025 at Sri Sringeri Shankaramath, Hyderabad. The programme was conducted with the objective of promoting the study, recitation, and practical application of the teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, particularly among students.
The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of Dwaraka High School, Sri Gurudatta High School, Vamakshi Vidya Nikethan, Oxford Grammar School, DPS, and St. Adams High School. Around 150 students individually recited Gita slokas with confidence and clarity, reflecting disciplined preparation and devotion.
Dr. Madhusudhan Garu from Sanskrita Bharathi, the Chief Guest, emphasized the importance of developing speaking skills in the Sanskrit language and highlighted the spiritual and emotional benefits of regular Gita sloka recitation. He also referred to research studies from international institutions underscoring its role in enhancing mental stability and clarity. Dr. Murali Mohan Garu, MD (Ayurveda), the Guest of Honour, spoke on the health benefits associated with the regular chanting of Gita slokas. Sri Srinivas Rangacharya Sir quoted Swami Vivekananda’s message on the Bhagavad Gita and highlighted the responsibility of students in nation-building.
As part of recognition and encouragement, medals, participation certificates, Eknath Ji’s Chitra Katha, Bhagavad Gita books, and pens were distributed to the participants by Sri Ramalingeshwar ji and his associates. Sri Mukesh ji, Jeevan-vrati karyakarta, Vivekananda Kendra addressed the gathering and briefed the participants about Vivekananda Kendra and its seva activities.
A total of 400 participants, including students, parents, and teachers, attended the programme. The celebrations concluded with the distribution of prasad.
