Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Assam Prant, Rongpur Vibhag, Jorhat Branch, in association with Sri Sri Satyanarayan Seva Kendra, Jorhat, organized the celebration of Gita Jayanti on 14th December 2025 at Sri Sri Satyanarayan Seva Kendra, Jorhat. The programme was attended by 65 participants and was conducted with the objective of promoting the relevance of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita and the concept of Amrit Parivar through intellectual discussions and scriptural explanations.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp (Pradeep) by Dr. Priyabrata Sen, President of Sri Sri Satyanarayan Seva Kendra, Jorhat, and Dr. Shilpi Dhar, Nagar Pramukh of Vivekananda Kendra Jorhat, followed by Mangalacharan Path recited by young Karyakartas of Vivekananda Kendra. After an introductory note by Dr. Shilpi Dhar, Dr. Priyabrata Sen delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the importance of celebrating Gita Jayanti in the contemporary context.
The main talk was delivered by Smt. Bani Goswami ji, retired teacher of Teok Higher Secondary School, and Shri Susamoy Purkayastha, Amrit Parivar Pramukh of Vivekananda Kendra, Assam Prant. In her address, Smt. Bani Goswami explained the role of the Bhagavad Gita in shaping individual character and highlighted its enduring relevance in modern life. Shri Susamoy Purkayastha elaborated on the concept of Amrit Parivar and explained how its values, rooted in the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, can contribute to the moral and social reformation of society.
A devotional Krishna Bhajan was presented by Shri Kapil, Shri Hrisikesh, Shri Bhargav, Shri Kaustav, and other young Karyakartas of Vivekananda Kendra, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere at the venue. The programme was effectively anchored by Smt. Munu Devi, an active Karyakarta of Vivekananda Kendra.
Following the deliberations, Shri Nalin Sharma, Bivag Saha Sanchalak of Rongpur Vibhag, proposed the vote of thanks. This was followed by a brief introduction to Vivekananda Kendra and information on upcoming activities by Shri Pranjal Sharma, Yuva Pramukh of Rongpur Vibhag. The programme concluded with the recitation of the Shanti Mantra led by Smt. Tunmoni Bora, Nagar Karya Paddhati Pramukh of Vivekananda Kendra Jorhat.
During the programme, an announcement was also made regarding a Dhyan–Pranayam Shivir to be jointly organized by Vivekananda Kendra and Sri Sri Satyanarayan Seva Kendra from 21 to 23 December 2025, with Kumari Alaka Gauri Joshi Didi, Prant Sangathak of Vivekananda Kendra, Assam Prant, serving as the trainer.
