Gita Jayanti Celebration at Jorhat

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Assam Prant, Rongpur Vibhag, Jorhat Branch organized the celebration of Gita Jayanti on 2nd December 2025 at Choladhara Sarbajanin Puja Mandir, Jorhat. The programme aimed to commemorate Gita Jayanti through scholarly deliberations and explanations of selected slokas from the Srimad Bhagavad Gita. A total of 35 participants attended the event.

The programme was graced by esteemed guests Dr. Champak Deka, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Sanskrit, J.B. University, Jorhat, and Dr. Madhusmita Deka, Assistant Professor, Department of Sanskrit, D.C.B. Girls College, Jorhat. The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp by senior Kendra Karyakarta Shri Sunit Baruah, followed by a welcome address by Dr. (Smt.) Shilpi Dhar, Nagar Pramukh. Dr. (Smt.) Nibedita Mahanta, Sah Nagar Pramukh, briefly outlined the objectives of the celebration.

Smt. Bijaya Adhyapak, Nagar Amrit Pariwar Pramukh, delivered an insightful talk on the importance of Amrit Pariwar in today’s socio-cultural context. The keynote speakers, Dr. Champak Deka and Dr. Madhusmita Deka, explained the slokas specified by Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari and highlighted the relevance of the Bhagavad Gita's teachings in leading a successful and purposeful life. This was followed by Samuhik Gita Path. The programme was ably conducted by Shri Tapan Saikia.

Both speakers emphasized the need for individuals to integrate the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita into their daily lives, and they encouraged parents to motivate their children to read and understand the sacred text. The event reflected devotion, thoughtful engagement, and a collective commitment to imbibe the timeless wisdom of the Gita.
