Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu Prant, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Kanyakumari (VKV Kanyakumari) observed Gita Jayanti on 1st December 2025 at 3.00 p.m. at the school ground, with the participation of 519 students. The programme was organized to familiarize students with the spiritual and ethical teachings of the Bhagavad Gita.
The celebration commenced with the chanting of three Omkaras, setting a serene and devotional atmosphere. Smt. J. Anuradha, Hindi Teacher of the school, addressed the students and explained the significance of Gita Jayanti. She highlighted that Gita Jayanti marks the revelation of the Bhagavad Gita by Lord Krishna to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, celebrated on the eleventh day of the waxing moon in the month of Margashirsha. She elaborated on how the Bhagavad Gita conveys the principles of dharma (duty), karma (action), and spiritual wisdom, guiding humanity towards righteous living, and is regarded as the essence of Vedic wisdom with relevance to spiritual, philosophical, and practical aspects of life.
Students of Class IX led the chanting of selected Gita shlokas, which was subsequently joined by students from Classes V to IX. The programme concluded with the recitation of the Shanti Mantra.
