Swami Vivekananda visited Madurai for the first time in the beginning of the year 1893. During his visit, in 1897, he gave a lecture on ‘What we ought to know’ on February 2, 1897.In Madurai, Kendra celebrates this day as Viveka Vijayam every year, to awaken national consciousness among the youth focusing on the strengths of our Nation.
This year, Vivekananda kendra Madurai celebrated Viveka Vijayam on 02/02/2021 at Balaji Nagar Karyalaya in which totally 70 people participated and Swami Tatprabhananda Ji Maharaj, Ramakrishna Math, Madurai delivered a special lecture.
The program started at 6.15 p.m. with prayer which was followed by a patriotic song sung by Samskarvarga children. Shri. D. Natarajan Ji, Karyapaddhati Pramukh conveyed the aim of the program and Shri. T. V. Prabhakaran Ji, Sah Nagar Pramukh gave a short introduction of the main speaker.
Swami Tatprabhananda Ji Maharaj, Ramakrishna Math, Madurai delivered a lecture on ‘Viveka Vijayam’. Swamiji narrated various incidents from the life of Swami Vivekananda which was inspiring and enlightening to the children as well as elders. He highlighted the importance of concentration, respect to elders and shraddha which was well received by the people.
Shri. R. Subbiah Ji, Murugan Vistar Pramukh delivered the happy address and the program concluded with Shanti Mantra.
