Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Assam Prant, Rongpur Vibhag, Jorhat Branch celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga on 21st June 2026 by organizing Yoga programmes at seven locations, with a total participation of 350 people. The programmes were conducted in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) prescribed by the Ministry of AYUSH.
The programmes were organized at Sri Sri Satyanarayan Seva Kendra (in association with Sri Sri Satyanarayan Seva Samiti) with 75 participants, Lakshmi Union Bengali Club with 20 participants, Choladhara Puja Mandir, Jorhat with 65 participants, Sri Sri Ramakrishna Sevashram, Jorhat with 25 participants, Assam Agricultural University (organized by the NSS Cell and Student Societies) with 80 participants, Chitralekha Sishu Vikash Mandir with 65 participants, and Lakshmi Union High School with 20 participants.
The programmes were graced by distinguished guests including Dr. Anup Kumar Das, Director of Post Graduate Studies, Assam Agricultural University, Dr. Binoy Kr. Medhi, Director of Students’ Welfare, Assam Agricultural University, Sri Damodar Barman, Registrar, Assam Agricultural University, Dr. Jiban Baruah, Associate Professor, Deptt. of Education, CKB Commerce College, Jorhat, Dr. Priyabrata Sen, Professor of Agricultural Biotechnology, Assam Agricultural University, Sri Rinku Ghosh, Principal, Lakshmi Union High School, Sri Kripashindu Chakraborty, President of Shree Shree Ramakrishna Seva Ashram, Sri Ravindra Bhattacharya, Vice President, Lakshmi Union Bengali Club, and Sri Prabin Rajkhowa, Principal, Chitralekha Sishu Vikash Mandir, who emphasized the importance of Yoga in promoting physical health, mental well-being, stress management, and healthy ageing.
A special highlight of the celebrations was the Bhajan Sandhya held at Sri Sri Satyanarayan Seva Kendra, which also marked the conclusion of the 10-day Yoga Satra conducted from 12th to 21st June 2026. The devotional programme featured Kendra prayers, bhajans, and inspiring musical performances by Smt. Lakshmi Nath Chetry, Smt. Jhumpa Ghosh, and Smt. Purnima Bhattacharyya, accompanied on tabla by Shri Subir Mozumder, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere.
As a follow-up initiative, the branch has planned to organize a Kendra Varg at Sri Sri Satyanarayan Seva Kendra with the active participation of karyakartas from both Sri Sri Satyanarayan Seva Samiti and Vivekananda Kendra, Jorhat Branch, to strengthen regular yoga practice and organizational activities.
