Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu Prant celebrated the International Day of Yoga 2026 through a series of programmes conducted from June 18 to June 29, 2026, across its Nagar Sthans and Prakalp Sthans throughout Tamil Nadu.
The extensive campaign was successfully carried out across 98 locations in the state, with a total participation of 7,193 people. The initiative was made possible through the dedicated efforts of 155 Karyakartas, who took this year’s global theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” to the grassroots level.
The celebrations reached diverse sections of society, ensuring that the benefits of Yoga were accessible to people across different age groups and backgrounds. Programmes were organized in educational institutions, healthcare organizations, and rural communities.
Special emphasis was placed on creating awareness among rural communities through the active involvement of the Rural Development Programme (VKRDP) and the Natural Resources Development Project (VK-NARDEP). During the sessions, instructors highlighted how regular Yoga practice contributes to cognitive well-being, joint mobility, overall vitality, and healthy ageing, in alignment with this year’s theme.
