INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION AT VKV VALLIOOR

Independence Day was celebrated in a grand manner on 15.08.2013. Shri. Hariharan,  Manager,  Canara  Bank,  Vallioor  hoisted our National flag and delivered an inspiring speech on patriotism.   Shri. Ayyappan, Secretary of RDP,  was the special guest.  Varieties of cultural programmes which reflected the theme of patriotism and our heritage made the function a successful one. Our Correspondent Mr. S.K. Subraman ian  arranged the function in a successful way. 

SEMINAR ON VIVEKANANDA’S THOUGHTS

ITANAGAR, Aug 11: Swami Vivekananda Sardha Shati Samaroh Samiti of VKV Kuporijo organized a seminar on the relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s thoughts in today’s context to commemorate his 150th birth anniversary at VKV Kuporijo yesterday.

Inaugurating the seminar, Deputy Commissioner Tahang Taggu called upon people to imbibe Swamiji’s ideals in true spirit so that an ideal social order is created. He also exhorted the parents and teachers to teach their children to work for the society and appealed all to be punctual in their work.

Lardik Kare, General Secretary of Tagin Cultural Society while moderating the seminar gave a few examples from his personal life on the thoughts of Swamiji.

Kalyanam Bharadwaj, Sr. teacher of the school spoke in brief and explained about the different ayams of the celebrations through which the message of Swamiji is taken to the nook and corner of the society.

Earlier, A Krishnan, Principal of the school appealed all to participate in the year long celebration.

There were 7 papers presented by the elites of the society.

The programme was attended by Tabin Siga, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dumporijo, Shami Timba, DPO, Daporijo, Jumni Ligu, LEO, Daporijo, Tadam Lida, a public leader of the area, GBs and Ex VKVians, parents and well wishers.

The programme was organized by the Prabuddha Ayam of VKV Kuporijo under the guidance of Pania Hankar and Dr. Kishori Poddar.

YOGA SHIKSHA SHIBIR AT VK NAGADANDI (KASHMIR)

A 10 day duration Yoga Shiksha Shibir was organized of All India Level from 15-24 July 2013 at Vivekananda Kendra Nagdandi- Kashmir. 

Total 16 participants (9 sisters & 7 Brothers) from Arunachal, Andhra Pradesh, Gujrat, Himachal, J&K, Maharashtra & Rajasthan participated very enthusiastically. They followed the Yoga Way of Life as taught by Vivekananda Kendra.

All realized that the the Yoga is not only Asanas & Pranayam and also not one of the pathy  to cure the physical ailments but it is the holistic approach to look at the life.

As usual the lectures were conducted on the subjected like - Ashtanga Yoga of Maharshi Patanjali, Bhagawadgita, Bhakti Yoga, Jyanna Yoga, Life and Message of Swami Vivekananda & Mananiya Eknathji, Bharatiya Sanskriti, important aspects of Kashmir,The Story of Vivekananda Rock Memorial etc. The Karma Yoga was explained through the selected Shlokas (Karmayoga Shlok Sangrah) from Bhagavadgita on Kanrma Yoga.

The teaching of Yogic Kriyas, the Bhajan Sandhya, visit of important places in Kashmir Vally etc. was the part of the shibir.

The deepening of the subject was done through the group discussions on the subjects.

Md G.R. Shah, the Asst. General Manager of State Bank of India (Acchabal) Anantanag Dist paid a visit on 23rd and spoke on the holistic spiritual aspects.

WORK FOR THE DIVINE IN ALL

The veneration for all life is the basis of deep ecology and Swami Vivekananda points to this core aspect of all existence - its innate divinity. In continuation with our newsletters providing the vision of Swami Vivekananda that forms the spiritual substratum of the work of VK-nardep towards sustainable development, we provide this month an excerpt from the lecture of Swami Vivekananda where he dwells on the Upanishadic declaration 'isavasyam idam sarvam' - Divine permeates all existence. The statement is also rightly the motto of VK-nardep.. Swami Vivekananda says : "So work, says the Vedanta, putting God in everything, and knowing Him to be in everything. Work incessantly, holding life as something deified, as God Himself, and knowing that this is all we have to do, this is all we should ask for. God is in everything, where else shall we go to find Him?"

And that explains the works of VK-nardep.

At Rameshwaram the water teerthams project is progressing in a wonderful way. In a wonderful display of synchronicity, the union minister has said that there are efforts to make the temple at Rameshwaram an UNESCO heritage site. The sacred geography ofTeerthams shows that not only the temple but the entire island can become an UNESCO heritage site. The Rameshwaram Teertham project which has been making the local as well tourist population aware of this spiritual-ecological aspect of the pilgrim island, is also making the pilgrimage a green pilgrimage. In this newsletter we are gladly sharing a case study of a farmer Sri Rai, in a village in Jharkhandtaking up Azolla backyard technology, which was brought to him through BAIF which in turn was from VK-nardep. Azolla has made a synergy jump in the health and productivity of the cattle which in turn has made the extended family of the farmer which includes his cattle a happy family. As Dr. Kamalasannan Pillai the brain behind this innovation used to say “Azolla once in homestead shall find its way to the field as well.” For Sri.Rai it is a journey of love – his love for his cows made his search for a good feed which took him through BAIF to Azolla which in turn has come there from Kanyakumari the southernmost end of India through directorate of animal husbandry, Govt of Jharkhand.
