Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Maharashtra Prant, Pashchim Maharashtra Vibhag, Solapur Branch, organised a special lecture titled "Anandamath, Vivekananda, and Today's India" on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the patriotic song Vande Mataram. The programme was presided over by Shri Deepak Patil ji, Solapur Nagar Sanchalak, and was attended by 130 participants.

The programme commenced with an introductory address by Shri Ravi Kantali ji, Solapur Nagar Pramukh. The keynote lecture was delivered by noted journalist and scholar of the Indian freedom movement, Shri Siddharam Patil ji. In his address, he explained how Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay's 'Anandamath' became the ideological foundation of India's nationalist movement and inspired generations of freedom fighters. He highlighted that Swami Vivekananda encouraged the youth to read Anandamath, as its message of self-respect, discipline, sacrifice, and national awakening deeply influenced his vision for the nation. He further noted that the song Vande Mataram, first sung at the Indian National Congress session in 1896, became the rallying cry of the Anti-Partition of Bengal movement in 1905 and played a significant role in awakening national consciousness. Shri Siddharam Patil ji also emphasized the influence of Anandamath on great national leaders such as Sri Aurobindo and Dr. K. B. Hedgewar, and explained its continuing relevance in inspiring organised, disciplined, and selfless service to the nation.

The programme also featured a musical presentation by Ms. Yogeshwari Tai. It was effectively compered by Shri Govind Bhandare ji, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Shri Sunil Randive ji. The event concluded with the collective singing of Vande Mataram led by Ms. Shravani Tai, leaving the participants inspired with a renewed sense of patriotism and national commitment.
