Free General Surgery Camp was organized at JBM-Vivekananda Kendra
Hospital, Shuklai, Baksa, Assam by Vivekananda Kendra in association with
Remote Area Medical Corp.(RAM) ,Knoxville,U.S.A. The Camp was
inaugurated on 4th February by Sri Biswajit Daimary (MP, Rajya Sabha)
and was attended by many Govt. Officials and villagers. In his speech,
he lauded the efforts of Vivekananda Kendra for serving the poor and
needy people of this remote area and assured all possible help from his
side.
Eight Specialists NRI Doctors who are RAM volunteers
participated in the camp, where 39 Surgeries were successfully
conducted. More than 1,000 patients were treated as out patients and
free medicines were distributed. The camp was concluded on 9th February.
The
involvement of the society in the camp was very encouraging. The
various Bodo organizations of the locality came forward voluntarily to
make the camp successful. The community kitchen ran by local EM
(Executive Member, Bodoland Council) Sri Ganesh Kachari fed more than
400 persons everyday including the patients and their attendants.
Every section of the society appreciated the effort of Vivekananda Kendra and are looking forward for such camp in future.
