Bhagavad Gita Recitation Competition at Mysore

On the occasion of Gita Jayanti, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Karnataka Prant, Mysore Branch organized a Bhagavad Gita Recitation Competition on 29 November 2025 at the Kendra Karyalaya, Jayanagar. The programme witnessed the participation of 76 students from 12 different schools. In addition, 73 parents were present, and 13 karyakartas were actively involved in organizing and conducting the event.

The competition focused on the recitation of the 12th Chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, encouraging students to engage deeply with the teachings of Bhakti Yoga. The students participated with devotion and discipline, reflecting a sincere effort to understand and internalize the message of the Gita.

As a follow-up to the programme, it was decided to initiate Sankula formation at four places, thereby extending the impact of Gita Jayanti celebrations into regular value-based family activities.

District Level Cultural Competitions at Sankarankovil

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu Prant, Rural Development Programme (VKRDP), Kovilpatti branch organised District Level Cultural Competitions (Tenkasi District) for urban school students on 29th August 2025 at Sri Gomathi Ambal Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Sankarankovil. The programme was aimed at nurturing cultural values, creativity, and confidence among students, while also providing a platform to showcase their talents.

The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 126 students from 13 schools, accompanied by 30 teachers, 5 parents, and 5 volunteers. A wide range of competitions were conducted, including storytelling, elocution, music, drawing, recitation, and mono acting. Each event gave students an opportunity to express themselves and reflect the rich cultural heritage of our land.

The competitions were judged by experienced teachers and well-wishers, ensuring fairness and encouragement to all participants. The performances of the students highlighted not only their creativity and talent but also the spirit of healthy competition.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Shri. N. Pazhani Selvam, Principal of Sri Gomathi Ambal Matric. Hr. Sec. School, who joined as the Chief Guest. He distributed the prizes and certificates to the winners, appreciating their hard work and talent.

Following the competitions, a Parent–Teacher Meeting was organised. Shri. Paramaguru Anna, Joint Secretary, VKRDP, along with well-wishers, interacted with the parents and teachers. During the interaction, they highlighted the activities of Vivekananda Kendra, stressing on its efforts in education, rural development, and cultural awakening. This session created an opportunity for parents and teachers to understand their role in the holistic development of children.

A bookstall featuring Vivekananda Kendra publications was also set up at the venue. The books, covering a wide range of topics such as Indian culture, spirituality, and personality development, attracted the interest of parents, teachers, and students, further spreading the message of Swami Vivekananda.

The event was successfully conducted with the dedicated efforts of the District Incharge, Balasevikas, and volunteers of VKRDP.

Universal Brotherhood Day Competitions in Mysore

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Karnataka Prant, Mysore Branch organized a series of cultural competitions on the occasion of Universal Brotherhood Day on 23rd August 2025 at Govinda Rao Memorial Hall. A total of 204 students from various schools and colleges—including Sharada High School and Primary, Vanita Sadana High School and Primary, Bruspatacharya High School, Pragati High School and Primary, Pragati Elite, Sadvidya, Dalavai, Shakti Dhama High School and Primary, SDM PU College, Marimallappa PU College, Shakti Dhama College, and Vivekananda Kendra Computer Centre—participated with great enthusiasm. They were accompanied by 13 teachers, 18 karyakartas, and 12 parents.

The programme commenced with children lighting the ceremonial lamp. Sri Rameshji, Prakashana Pramukh of VK-KPV, addressed the gathering and highlighted the significance of Universal Brotherhood Day as well as the activities of Vivekananda Kendra. The event was anchored by Kum. Vedavati, a student of the Vivekananda Kendra Computer Centre. Competitions included patriotic group songs, essay writing, quiz, and Swami Vivekananda Vesha Sparde.

Smt. Vasumati Didi, Soumya Didi, and Smt. Gayatri Akka served as judges for the events. A special highlight of the day was the distribution of certificates to the first batch of Computer Diploma students, marking a milestone for the centre.

The celebration concluded on an inspiring note, leaving students and participants imbued with the spirit of Swami Vivekananda’s message of universal brotherhood.

Inter-college declamation competition at Ludhiana

Inter-college declamation competition is organized on the occasion of universal brotherhood day at Vivekananda Kendra Ludhiana, Lord Mahavir homeopathic college, on 13th oct. 9 students participated in the competition. Dr Vinay Sofat chaired  and chief judicial magistrate was the chief guest of the program. Principal of LMC was the special guest.

Power Point Presentation & Wall Magazines competition at shivsagar, assam

On 08-Oct-2017, a competition on the occasion of "Sister Nivedita's" 150th birth anniversaries (1867 to 2017) was held at the Sibasagar Girls College Auditorium in collaboration with the NCC & NSS wings of the college in two different categories of Power Point Presentation & Wall Magazines competition on the topic of Sister Nivedita's work & services for the people of India & world as a whole. The competition was organised by the Vivekananda Kendra, Sivasagar Sakha, Assam, India.

The competition started at 10.30 am and concluded at 4.30 pm. Many schools and colleges were a part of that competition and featured their innovative ideas and creativity in front of the respected judges. There were 4 judges in the chair to evaluate the whole competition and they were namely 1) Dr. Rajiv Baruah (Member, VKV-Sivasagar Managing Committee) 2) Shri Dambhedar Tai (Member, Vivekananda Rock Memorial) 3) Smt. Bunty Bhuyan (Principal, KVM School,, Joysagar & coordinator VK, Gaurisagar) 4) Smt. Eva Goswami (Saha Nagar Pramukh, Vkendra, Sivasagar).

Among all the dignitaries the Principal Shri Poresh Ch. Loying, VKV-Sivasagar & in charge Shri Ratul Kalita (Amolapatty VKV-Sivasagar) were also present on this occasion. In Power Point Presentation 1) Dikhowmukh College 2) Demow College begged the 1st & 2nd position respectively in the category. The position secured in the Wall Magazine category were 1) Demow College 2) Gaurisagar H.S. School & 3) Demow College as 1st, 2nd & 3rd position holder respectively. Shri Vishwas Lapalkar, lifeworker of Vivekananda Kendra, delivered a talk on Swami Vivekananda and Sister Nivedita. In the concluding function prizes and certificates were distributed to the participants.

Inter collage Wall - Magazine Competition at Tinsukia

Inter collage one day Wall magazine competition was organized on 13th September. Total 189 participants took part in the competition from 5 collages - Women's collage-78 Tinsukia Collage-23, Janta Collage-20, Commerce Collage-38, Pranavananda Collage-49 students. For the competition there were two judges there - one smt. Baldeep Kaur, Principal Gyanpeeth School and Smt. Rupa Pal - Ex student of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Tinsukia, well known artist. competition was started at 9:30am and end at 3:30pm. The competition was followed by ppp, gams and group discussion - "Vyavhar me Rastra Bhakti". And program was concluded with patriotic song.    

Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda

152nd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated in Dibrugarh by Vivekananda Kendra on 12th January’2015 with numbers of programs organized in different areas within Dibrugarh in collaboration with and participation of local natives, schools, clubs and youths of Dibrugarh from different locations.  They are as detailed below:

1) Propagation of life and message of Swami Vivekananda  among school students: Progation of life and ideology of Swami Vivekananda among the school students through lectures, story telling, games and slogan on Swamiji and Bharat Mata were organized in nine different schools of Dibrugarh. The programs were conducted by the Karyakartas of VK Dibrugarh along with some enthusiastic youths from a few colleges who got associated through MEJSP YUVA Sampark and YUVA convention.

2) Pushpanjali Karyakram: Pushpanjali karyakram before portrait of Swami Vivekananda has been organized in different prominent location within Dibrugarh Town where active participation of local people of that area is observed. The locations are as Thanacharial, Shanti para, Raj Laxmi Banquet Hall, K.P.Road,Naliapool and Paltan Bazar. Near about 650 people offered pushpanjali  on the day through above  karyakrams.

3) Competitions,cultural program and public meeting:  Art competitions for school students,cultural programs and public meeting was also organized in collaboration with few local clubs of Dibrugarh Town.

Vivekananda Janmothsov Celebration at Durgapur

Vivekananda Janmothsov O Seve Somiti and Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari Durgapur Branch are celebrating Swamiji's Birthday by organizing some cultural Program .

This program was continued for 3 days. 

On 9th January Our program was started with Masal run called Vivek Jyoti. In this run we have covered approx 15km with 105 participants.

Then on 11th January we had conducted some cultural program those are

Drawing Competition: Total 333 participators participated in this Drawing competition. We have divided this competition into 4 groups according to the class division.

1. Surya Namaskar Competition: Total 40 candidate participated in this competition 
2. Quize on Swami Vivekananda : Total 20 Candidate participated in this competition
3. Sanskrit Sloke Competition : Total 29 Candidate participated in this competition 

       

On 12th January from morning puja, yagya were held. Then 2 more competition were held on this day .Those are

   

1.  Story Telling of Swamiji Childhood : Total 20 children participated in this competition.
2.  Bhakti Geeti Competition : Total 43 Candidate participated in this competition.

       

The main attraction of the day is that "Dharma Shabha". Our main guest Prof. Janardan Ghosh (Professor of Vivekananda University of English Department) was present in this program and delivered his valuable speech . Along with Vivekananda Kendra Karyakarta Sri Biswanath Chakrabartty (Shantiniketan Bhibagh Promukh) also present . And also some of delegates personality of our society were present in this program .At the end of the program was the Prize distribution ceremony .

TRADITIONAL DRAMA & DANCE COMPETITION ARUNACHAL PRADESH

The District level competition for the Traditional dance and drama on the occasion of MEJSP and Swamiji Jayanti cum National Youth Day celebration was conducted at VKV-Kharsang as well as various places of Arunachal Pradesh.

There were eight troops for the traditional dance and seven troops of traditional drama competitions.

Gita Jayanti celebration various places in Mysore

At Mysore : On 3rd December celebrated at Kendra office, Ma. Bhanudasji, General Secretary presided the function. Ma. C V Gopinathji, Retd. Secretary, Govt of India was the Chief guest. Ma. Gopinathji spoke on  importance of Bhagavadgita in our daily life. Ma. Bhanudasji also gave speech on Shrimad Bhagavad Gita. There was prize distribution of interschool and inter college winners on gita chanting competition, quiz and bhajan competition held on 30th November 2014. Celebration ended by Kendra Prayer.
