150th Anniversary Celebration of “Vande Mataram” at VKV Kallubalu

Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Kallubalu (Karnataka Prant) organized a special program on 7th November 2025 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the creation of Bharat’s National Song “Vande Mataram” (7 November 1875). The event was held at Kuvempu Hall from 8:30 a.m. to 9:10 a.m., with the participation of 343 students, 13 teachers, and 2 non-teaching staff members.

The program, compered by Kum. Varsha of Class 10, commenced with the opening prayer led by Kum. Deepika. Shri Parappa Shigli delivered an insightful explanation on the significance of Vande Mataram, drawing upon important episodes from the life of Shri Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, the composer of the National Song.

A graceful classical dance performance on Vande Mataram by Kum. Elakshi of Class 9 added a cultural vibrancy to the celebration. This was followed by a clear and meaningful explanation of each stanza of the song by Kum. Shakuntala of Class 9.

The program reached its emotional peak with the mass singing of “Vande Mataram”, which evoked deep patriotic sentiments among all present. The gathering concluded with the National Anthem and the Shanti mantra.
