Kishori Vikas Shibir at Manikanteswaram August 2025

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Kerala Prant, Thiruvananthapuram Branch organized a Kishori Vikas Shibir at Sree Sankara Vidyapeedom, Manikanteswaram, on 29th and 30th August 2025. The Shibir witnessed the active participation of 22 students, 3 teachers, and 3 Karyakartas.

The programme commenced with Omkars and Shanti Pat, followed by the introduction of Adarneeya Radha Didi and the purpose of the Shibir. Radha Didi spoke on the nationwide service activities of Vivekananda Kendra and the importance of Kanyakumari as the headquarters. The sessions included team-building games that helped the students recognize values such as teamwork, alertness, truthfulness, and selflessness. A thought-provoking session on Shreyas and Preyas explained the importance of choosing long-term good over short-term pleasures through practical examples.

The participants engaged in a handicraft session, making woollen garlands, and later prepared and enacted skits based on incidents from Swami Vivekananda’s life. The first day concluded with Bhajan Sandhya, meditation, and Shanti Mantra.

The second day began with prayer and a session on Social Media and Friendship, where Radha Didi emphasized responsible usage and wise decision-making. Group discussions and presentations on Shreyas and Preyas and Social Media and Friendship further enriched the learning. The concluding programme featured student and teacher reflections, expressing how they enjoyed and benefitted from the Shibir.

The programme concluded with meditation, Shanti Mantra, and Pushpanjali. As a takeaway, each participant received a copy of the book “Incidents from the Life of Swami Vivekananda” in Malayalam.
