Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamil Nadu Vibhag, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Vallioor celebrated 78th Independence Day on the school premises on August 15, 2024, starting at 9.30 a.m. A total of 675 students actively participated in the event.
The occasion was graced by the President of the Rotary Club of Vallioor Central, Sri S. Vignesh Kanthan, as the Chief Guest. The Correspondent of VKV Vallioor, Sri S.K. Subramanian ji, presided over the program. Other dignitaries in attendance included Rotarian Sri Chellappa, Secretary; Rotarian Sri S. Sudhir Kanthan, Former President; Rotarian Sri Innocent Raja; and Rotarian Sri Dinesh Kannan.
The celebration began with the Tamil Thaai Vazhthu, followed by a prayer song sung by the students. The Chief Guest, Sri S. Vignesh Kanthan, then unfurled the National Flag, accompanied by the singing of the flag song by the students. Muthu Siva Sankari of Class XI delivered the welcome address.
The event featured a Mass Drill and a beautiful performance of Bharatanatyam, showcasing the traditional dance of India. Following this, the Chief Guest addressed the students, delivering an inspiring speech that motivated them to uphold the values of independence.Sri Madhu, a student from Class XII, gave a speech honoring the freedom fighters, while the Principal, Sri T. Muthukrishnan ji, spoke about the significance of independence and encouraged the students to live with patriotism.
Students then showcased their talents through various art forms, including patriotic dances, a Tamil drama, pyramid formations, special property dances, hoop performances, and martial arts demonstrations such as Silambam and Karate. Prizes were distributed to the winners of competitions held in honor of Sri Kamaraj’s birth anniversary.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by the National Anthem. Sweets were distributed to all attendees.
