World Sanskrit Day Celebration at VKV Kanyakumari

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamil Nadu Vibhag, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kanyakumari, celebrated World Sanskrit Day on August 19, 2024, in Swami Vivekananda Sabhagriham at Vivekanandapuram Campus, starting at 2.30 p.m.

Aadharneeya Sri Avinash JiPublic Relations Officer of Vivekananda Rock Memorial, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Kum. L.K. Swetha from Class IX served as the Master of Ceremony. A total of 450 students participated in the event.

The World Sanskrit Day celebration began with Deepa Prajwalan (lighting of the lamp), followed by an invocation. The students enhanced the program with their Sanskrit prayer. Kum. Y.R. Akshana of Class IX welcomed the gathering in Sanskrit, and Kum. S. Tiffani of Class IX spoke about the significance of the day. The Chief Guest then addressed the students, stating that Sanskrit is the mother of all Indian languages and highlighting the Gurukulam system of education. He also emphasized the importance of the two great epics, The Ramayana and The Mahabharata, which were written in Sanskrit.

The students showcased their talents through various cultural programs, including Krishna rhymes, the story of the thirsty crow, a colorful dance, and a melodious song. Kum. A.K. Mahima from Class IX delivered the vote of thanks. The program concluded with the Shanti Mantra.
