On the auspicious occasion of Kartik Ekadashi, Monday, 3 Nov.2014 evening, Vivekananda Kendra Telangana-Andhra Pradesh Prant held the first of relief programmes for those affected by the recent Hudhud cyclone. 10-litre steel water containers ['Binndelu' in Telugu] were distributed to 60 families, mostly daily wage earners and labourers in the premises of Swami Vivekananda Svachchanda Seva Samstha [SVSSS], One-Town area, Visakhapatnam. The needy families were identified by the SVSSS.
All the office bearers of SVSSS including the Chairman, Sri T. Saibalaram, founder and current President, Sri N.Appa Rao, himself a labourer, and other members were present on the occasion. The Kendra was represented by Sri Sita Rama Raju, well wisher, and Kum.Sujatha Nayak, Praant Sangathak, VK-Telangana-Andhra Pradesh Prant.
The SVSSS members later said that for the last few weeks all relief programmes have been riotous. This was the only relief programme which was conducted in a pious atmosphere.
The programme was possible with the blessings and active involvement of Revered Prasad Guruji, Sri Vashishta Sevashramam, Antharvedi, East Godavari district, AP. His disciples including Sri Raghu Raju and Sri K. Sita Rama Raju, rendered all necessary local support. Contributions were given by various individuals in Hyderabad and Hope for Needy, a Hyderabad-based social service organisation.
