Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Karnataka Prant, Hebbal Nagarsthan, celebrated Mahashivratri on 15 February 2026 at VS Yoga Centre, Hebbal Kempapura, from 5.30 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. The programme witnessed the participation of 80 people, including 20 karyakartas, creating a deeply devotional and spiritually uplifting atmosphere.
The programme commenced with the chanting of three Omkaras followed by Shanti Mantras. This was followed by the devotional song “Shambho Purare” rendered by the Sanskar Varga children. Ms. Smitha Ji then explained the spiritual significance of Mahashivratri, recounting inspiring episodes from the Itihasas and Puranas. She also presented a Kendra Parichaya, highlighting the mission, vision, and activities of Vivekananda Kendra.
The central part of the programme was the Shiva Pooja, conducted by Shri Vaidyaji and Shri Chandruji, which included the chanting of mantras and shlokas along with archana, arati, and nivedanam as per the prescribed rituals. Following the pooja, devotional bhajans were sung by Abinnaya Ji and the Amrit Parivar team, along with a musical performance presented by the family of Shri Satya Ji.
After the completion of the pooja arati at around 7.10 p.m., Bhojana / Alpahar was served to the participants. Subsequently, Ms. Abinnaya Ji and the Amrit Parivar team led the chanting of various Ashtakams, followed by a meditation session. The programme concluded with the Maha Mangala Arati.
The event provided a deeply devotional experience for all the participants and strengthened the spirit of collective prayer and cultural observance.
