Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Karnataka Prant, R.T. Nagar Branch celebrated the Mahashivratri festival, with immense devotion and spiritual grandeur on February 15, 2026. Held at the Samhita School of Performing Arts, the event drew an enthusiastic gathering of 93 participants.
The celebration commenced with a formal prayer and Aarti to invoke the blessings of Lord Shiva, immediately filling the venue with positive vibrations through the collective recitation of Lingashtakam and soul-stirring Shiva Bhajans.
The spiritual highlight of the evening was the dedicated chanting of "Om Namah Shivaya" a total of 15,108 times, Chanting the sacred mantra with full enthusiasm, punctuated by a beautiful Aarti after every 1000 chants to maintain the sanctity and momentum of the ritual. The chanting was further enriched by devotional music and dance performances, leading up to the final 108 chants which were performed as a ceremonial Pushpa Archana.
The program reached its meditative peak with the recitation of the Nirvana Shatakam, followed by the Shanti Mantra.
The festivities concluded with a grand Maha Mangalaarati and the distribution of Maha Prasada, which was lovingly prepared and brought from the homes of the participating children, symbolizing the spirit of shared service and devotion.
