Free ENT Check-up and Surgery Camp by VK Arun Jyoti

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Arunachal Prant, Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti, organized a Free ENT Check-up and Surgery Camp on 27 and 28 February 2026 at Zonal General Hospital, Aalo, located in West Siang District, Arunachal Pradesh. The camp was conducted by a team of doctors from MENTS Hospital,  Bengaluru under the leadership of Dr. Pradeep Kumar PS, who has been rendering dedicated medical service in Arunachal Pradesh since 2001. During the two-day camp, 142 patients with ENT problems were examined and five surgeries were successfully performed. It is noteworthy that microsurgeries such as tympanoplasty require considerable time and expertise, often taking two hours or more for a single procedure.

The camp was inaugurated on 27 February by Dr. Linya Lollen, District Medical Officer of West Siang district, and Dr. Karken Rina, Medical Superintendent of Zonal General Hospital, Aalo. The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, after which the visiting doctors were felicitated by Dr. Nyage Padu Bagra. The welcome address was delivered by Sri Doi Kamduk ji, Nagar Pramukh of Vivekananda Kendra, Aalo. Dr. Ramesh H., the senior-most member of the MENTS Hospital team, briefly spoke about their philanthropic medical activities. Dr. Taking Paser encouraged the youth to come forward and contribute to social service. The programme concluded with motivating speeches by the District Medical Officer and the Medical Superintendent. Around 30 student volunteers from Teachers Training College, Aalo and Donyi Polo Government College, Kamki actively supported the smooth conduct of the camp.

It is noteworthy that Dr. Pradeep Kumar PS and his team have been conducting similar service activities since 2001 and have treated more than 2,000 ENT patients while successfully performing nearly 200 surgeries for needy patients across various locations in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, thereby extending valuable medical care to remote and underserved communities.

Annual Sports Day 2026 Celebration at VKV Kanyakumari

The Annual Sports Day of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Kanyakumari (Tamil Nadu Prant), was celebrated on 25 February 2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation from students and staff. The programme aimed to promote physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship among the students. A total of 1,100 students participated in the celebration.

The morning session began at 9:00 AM with an invocation and welcome address in the presence of the Principal Smt. G. Sariga, Vice Principal Sri Sanjeev Rajan, and the Chief Guest Dr. Radhika, Professor of Rohini College of Engineering. The programme was coordinated by the Physical Education teachers Smt. V. Vijaya Nirmala and Sri K. Esai Reshwanth, and compered by T. N. Rithu of Class XI A.

The Olympic lamp was ceremonially lit symbolizing unity and the spirit of sports. Sports achievers Shri Mathan (X Std), Kum. Akshaya Lakshmi (VIII Std), Kum. Akshaya (VIII Std), and Kum. Lucy Monica (XII A) carried the Olympic torch around the playground before it was lit by the Chief Guest along with the Principal and Vice Principal. This was followed by the flag hoisting ceremony marking the formal inauguration of the Sports Day. In her address, Dr. Radhika emphasized that sports help develop discipline, character, perseverance, and equality. She also highlighted the inspiring example of Paralympic high jumper Shri Mariyappan who overcame physical challenges through determination and continuous practice. A memento was presented to the Chief Guest by the Principal.

The sports events began with the symbolic release of doves representing peace and unity. Various athletic competitions were conducted for students of different classes, and the finals for classes VIII to XII were held in front of the entire school. Students participated actively and displayed enthusiasm, discipline, and team spirit throughout the events.

The evening session began with an invocation by the students of Std VII, followed by a welcome address by Kum. R. Tharshini of Class XI and a speech on the importance of the day by Kum. Vanisha of Class VIII B. The Chief Guest for the evening session, Shri C. M. Chellathurai, Traffic Inspector, appreciated the students for their participation and emphasized the importance of road safety. He encouraged students to follow traffic rules and create awareness among their family members regarding the use of helmets, seat belts, and responsible driving.

Prizes, certificates, and medals were distributed to the winners by the Chief Guest. The prize list was read by Smt. Abinaya Lakshmi, teacher. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Shri Akshanth of Class XI C. A memento was presented to the Chief Guest by the Principal. The programme concluded with Kendra Prarthana, marking the successful completion of the Annual Sports Day celebration.

Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Jayanti celebrated at R.T. Nagar

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Karnataka Prant, R.T. Nagar Branch celebrated Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Jayanti with deep reverence on February 19, 2026, at the Samhita School of Performing Arts. The event brought together 23 participants in a vibrant atmosphere of spirituality and devotion.

The celebration began with a traditional prayer and the soulful rendering of Guru Bhajans. The highlight of the celebration was the collective chanting of "Sarva Deva Devi Swarupaya Ramakrishnaya Namaha" 21 times, followed by a solful Aarti that filled the space with a sense of peace.

Sri. Bharath Ji enriched the gathering by sharing insightful stories from the spiritual life and teachings of Takur Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, inspiring the attendees with his message of universal harmony.

The celebration concluded with Pushpa Archana, where all the children offered flowers to seek the Takur's blessings, followed by the Khandana Bhava Bandhana hymn and the Maha Mangalaarati.

Mother's Day Celebration at VKV Vallioor

Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Vallioor (Tamil Nadu Prant), celebrated the Mother’s Day on 18 February 2026 at 2.30 PM in the Yoga Hall with the participation of 250 parents. The programme was presided over by Sri S. K. Subramanianji, Correspondent of VKV MHSS Vallioor, and Smt. K. Sumitha, MA., B.Ed., Counselor of Vadakku Vallioor Panchayat, attended as the Chief Guest.

The celebration was organized to honour the selfless love and sacrifice of mothers. The programme began with a devotional prayer song rendered by the students seeking the blessings of the Almighty, followed by a warm welcome address delivered by teacher Smt. Subha. The Chief Guest inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp in the presence of the Correspondent Sri S. K. Subramanianji and the Principal Smt. S. Esakkiammal.

Various cultural programmes and competitions were conducted to highlight the greatness of motherhood. Students performed a rhythmic dance and presented a choral tribute expressing love and gratitude towards mothers. A poetry competition was also conducted in which students recited touching verses describing the word “Amma” as a three-letter miracle.

The winners of the competitions were honoured and presented prizes by the Chief Guest. On the significance of the day, teacher Smt. Revathi spoke about how a mother is the first deity in a child’s life, referring to the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. The programme also included inspiring words and spiritual quotes of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Holy Mother Sarada Devi emphasizing the divine nature of motherhood. A lucky card prize segment was also conducted for the parents which added excitement to the celebration. In her address, the Chief Guest highlighted that a mother’s upbringing forms the strong foundation for a successful life. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Smt. T. Rajula Devi.

Mahashivratri Celebration at Hebbal

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Karnataka Prant, Hebbal Nagarsthan, celebrated Mahashivratri on 15 February 2026 at VS Yoga Centre, Hebbal Kempapura, from 5.30 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. The programme witnessed the participation of 80 people, including 20 karyakartas, creating a deeply devotional and spiritually uplifting atmosphere.

The programme commenced with the chanting of three Omkaras followed by Shanti Mantras. This was followed by the devotional song “Shambho Purare” rendered by the Sanskar Varga children. Ms. Smitha Ji then explained the spiritual significance of Mahashivratri, recounting inspiring episodes from the Itihasas and Puranas. She also presented a Kendra Parichaya, highlighting the mission, vision, and activities of Vivekananda Kendra.

The central part of the programme was the Shiva Pooja, conducted by Shri Vaidyaji and Shri Chandruji, which included the chanting of mantras and shlokas along with archana, arati, and nivedanam as per the prescribed rituals. Following the pooja, devotional bhajans were sung by Abinnaya Ji and the Amrit Parivar team, along with a musical performance presented by the family of Shri Satya Ji.

After the completion of the pooja arati at around 7.10 p.m., Bhojana / Alpahar was served to the participants. Subsequently, Ms. Abinnaya Ji and the Amrit Parivar team led the chanting of various Ashtakams, followed by a meditation session. The programme concluded with the Maha Mangala Arati.

The event provided a deeply devotional experience for all the participants and strengthened the spirit of collective prayer and cultural observance.

The Mahashivratri Celebrated at RT Nagar

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Karnataka Prant, R.T. Nagar Branch celebrated the Mahashivratri festival, with immense devotion and spiritual grandeur on February 15, 2026. Held at the Samhita School of Performing Arts, the event drew an enthusiastic gathering of 93 participants.

The celebration commenced with a formal prayer and Aarti to invoke the blessings of Lord Shiva, immediately filling the venue with positive vibrations through the collective recitation of Lingashtakam and soul-stirring Shiva Bhajans.

The spiritual highlight of the evening was the dedicated chanting of "Om Namah Shivaya" a total of 15,108 times, Chanting the sacred mantra with full enthusiasm, punctuated by a beautiful Aarti after every 1000 chants to maintain the sanctity and momentum of the ritual. The chanting was further enriched by devotional music and dance performances, leading up to the final 108 chants which were performed as a ceremonial Pushpa Archana.

The program reached its meditative peak with the recitation of the Nirvana Shatakam, followed by the Shanti Mantra.

The festivities concluded with a grand Maha Mangalaarati and the distribution of Maha Prasada, which was lovingly prepared and brought from the homes of the participating children, symbolizing the spirit of shared service and devotion.

Manache Shlok Recitation Competition on the Occasion of Das Navami at Badlapur

On the occasion of Das Navami, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Maharashtra Prant, Kokan Vibhag, Badlapur Nagar, in collaboration with Shishu Vihar School Badlapur Gaon, organized a Shlok Recitation Competition on Magh Krishna Navami Wednesday, February 11, 2026. A total of 120 students from Classes 1 to 7 participated in the competition.

Under the supervision of eight dedicated Kendra karykartas, the participants were evaluated on rigorous criteria, all eager to demonstrate their mastery of the first 25 shlokas in Manache Shlok composed by Samarth Ramdas Swami, including the precision of their pronunciation, the rhythmic flow of their recitation, and their ability to maintain the correct sequence of the verses.

The event was a remarkable success, fostering a deep connection between the younger generation and traditional spiritual literature. From each grade level, three outstanding students were selected as winners for their exceptional performances. A particular highlight of the day was the performance by Kum. Insha Shaikh from Class 7, whose rhythmic and flawless recitation earned her the first position, by encouraging such discipline and devotion

First Weekly Veda Class Conducted at VK Hebbal

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari Karnataka Prant, Hebbal Branch successfully conducted its first weekly Veda class on February 8, 2026, at the Vivekananda School of Yoga, Hebbal Kempapura, held between 2:30 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. A total of 40 participants attended the session.

The classes were inaugurated by Pujyaniya Bhakthi Priya Mataji, a renowned saint from the Gangotri Himalayas, in the august presence of Aadaraneeya Lalita Didi, Karnataka Prant Sanghatak, and Smt. Remya Ajith, Vedic Instructor, on 1st February 2026. The classes are being conducted under the expert guidance of the esteemed Vedic scholar Aacharasri M. R. Rajesh ji of the Kashyapa Veda Research Foundation.

Matru Puja at VKV Kanyakumari

The Matru Puja was conducted at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Kanyakumari (Tamil Nadu Prant), on 7th February 2026 at 2.30 p.m. at the Swami Vivekananda Sabhagriham in Vivekanandapuram. Dr. Anitha Subramanian graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and the programme witnessed the participation of 270 students, parents, and teachers. The programme was compered by Smt. T. Sindhu, Teacher.

The programme commenced with a devotional invocation by Smt. Nithya Teacher, creating a serene and respectful atmosphere. Smt. Subbulekshmi Teacher delivered the welcome address and warmly greeted the dignitaries, parents, teachers, and students. This was followed by an explanation on the importance of Matru Puja by Smt. Maheshwari Teacher, who highlighted the significance of expressing gratitude and reverence towards one’s mother. The central ritual of the programme, the Paduka Puja, was then performed by the students as a mark of respect and devotion to their mothers.

In her address, Dr. Anitha Subramanian expressed her happiness at witnessing the Paduka Puja and appreciated the meaningful tradition followed by the Vidyalaya. In her address, she advised parents to greet their children warmly each day and to encourage them whenever they feel discouraged. She also noted that through the Paduka Puja, parents bless their children and wish them success in their forthcoming public examinations. She further emphasized the need for both parents and students to reduce excessive use of mobile phones and to focus on healthy communication and disciplined living.

As part of the programme, six students and eight parents shared their experiences, expressing their feelings of gratitude, affection, and emotional connection through the Matru Puja ceremony.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Smt. Kalavathy Teacher, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, parents, teachers, and students for their active participation. The programme concluded with the chanting of the Shanti Mantra, leaving the gathering with a deep sense of reverence, gratitude, and family bonding.

Mahashivratri Celebration at Samskarvarga in Kempapura

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Karnataka Prant, Hebbal Nagarsthan, organized a Mahashivratri celebration at Samskarvarga conducted at the Government Primary School, Kempapura, on 7 February 2026, from 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. The programme was conducted with the participation of 100 students and 2 karyakartas.

The Samskara Varga began with the chanting of three Omkaras, followed by Shanti Mantras, Subhashita, and Geet, creating a devotional and disciplined atmosphere among the children. As part of the session, the students learned new shlokas and sang three bhajans dedicated to Lord Shiva.

The significance of Mahashivratri was explained through a simple and engaging narration of the Shivratri story, helping the children understand the spiritual importance of the festival. The celebration encouraged the students to imbibe devotional values and cultural traditions.

The Samskara Varga concluded with the chanting of the Shanti Paat.

Inauguration of Veda Classes at Hebbal

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Karnataka Prant, Hebbal branch inaugurated Free Veda classes on 1st February 2026 at the Vivekananda School of Yoga, Hebbal, Kempapura, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. A total of 65 participants and 10 Kendra karyakartas, attended the inaugural session. 

The program was graced by Pujyaniya Bhakti Priya Mataji, a revered saint from Gangotri Himalayas; Aadaraniya Lalita Didi, Karnataka Prant Sanghatak, Vivekananda Kendra; and Smt. Remya Ajith, Vedic Instructor, under the guidance of renowned Vedic scholar Acharyasri M. R. Rajesh ji of Kashyapa Veda Research Foundation. Pujyaniya Bhakti Priya Mataji and Aadaraniya Lalita Didi emphasized the importance of learning the Vedas, inspiring participants before the lessons commenced.

The session began with three Omkaras, Prayer, lighting of the lamp, and the Rashtriya Geet, setting a spiritual tone for the gathering.

The session concluded with Shanti Manra. The classes will continue every Sunday under the guidance of Acharyasri M. R. Rajesh ji.

200th Week Celebration of Samskaravarga at RT Nagar

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Karnataka Prant, RT Nagar Nagarsthan celebrated the 200th Week of Samskaravarga on 1 February 2026 at Samhita School of Performing Arts. The programme witnessed the participation of 63 people, making the occasion memorable and inspiring.

The celebration commenced with a prayer led by Ms. Mahesha, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp (Deepa Prajwalan) and the recitation of a Subhashita by Ms.Virupaksha. Ms. Ruchitha Akka delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for the programme. This was followed by an invocation song presented by Shri Tarun and his team.

Ms.Thara Didi shared insightful thoughts with the participants, highlighting the importance of Samskara Varga in nurturing values and character among children. The programme featured a captivating Ganesha dance performed by the Samskarvarga students. Students and karyakartas also shared their experiences, reflecting on their journey and learning through the Samskarvarga activities. Ms. Sandhya Akka rendered a patriotic Desh Bhakti Geet, adding to the inspiring atmosphere of the programme. Engaging games were also organized for senior karyakartas, creating a lively and joyful environment.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Shri Bharath Ji, followed by the chanting of the Shanti Mantra and Kendra Prarthana. Prasada was distributed to all participants, marking the successful completion of the celebration.

Amrita Parivar Programme at Australia

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Karnataka Prant, Mysore Nagarsthan, organized an Amrita Parivar Programme on 1 February 2026 at Glory Park, Schofields, Sydney, Australia – 2762. The programme witnessed the participation of 40 members and was conducted in the spirit of Parivar Milan, strengthening bonds among families while reflecting on spiritual values.

The session focused on conveying the message of the Bhagavad Gita through the perspective of Vivekananda Kendra and discussing how its teachings can be applied in daily life. The discussion highlighted key concepts such as Karma, Yoga, Dharma, Yajna, and Jnana, and their relevance in guiding individuals and communities toward a righteous and balanced way of living.

It was emphasized that the Bhagavad Gita teaches the journey of life from the individual level (Vyashti) to the collective level (Samashti), encouraging individuals to contribute positively to society. As part of the programme, participants also recited a few shlokas from the Bhagavad Gita, reflecting on their meaning and significance.

Inspired by the discussion, members of the HSS group expressed their interest in incorporating the recitation and study of the Bhagavad Gita into their weekly programmes, thereby strengthening the effort to preserve and practice Sanatana Dharma and cultural values.

The programme was organized under the guidance of Amrita Parivar Pramukh, Smt. Gayatri Didi, whose initiative helped bring families together for a meaningful and spiritually enriching gathering.
