Guru Purnima Utsava Celebrated at VK Hebbal

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Karnataka Prant, Kempegowda Vibhaga, Hebbal Nagar, celebrated Guru Purnima Utsava with devotion and enthusiasm on 29th July 2026 at the Vivekananda School of Yoga, Coffee Board Layout, Bengaluru, with the participation of 30 members.

The programme commenced with a prayer, followed by an enlightening talk on the significance of Guru Purnima and the vital role that Gurus play in guiding, inspiring, and shaping human life. The participants were encouraged to understand and appreciate the timeless Guru–Shishya tradition of India.

As part of the programme, a presentation highlighting the lives and contributions of Maharishi Veda Vyasa and Adi Shankaracharya was screened. The video presentation helped participants gain a deeper understanding of the invaluable contributions made by these great Gurus towards preserving and enriching India's spiritual and cultural heritage.

The participants then joined in Guru Bhajans with devotion and enthusiasm, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere. The programme concluded with the chanting of the Shanti Mantra, leaving the participants inspired to imbibe the values of reverence, learning, and self-transformation.

Guru Purnima Celebration organized at Sharada School by VK Hebbal

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Karnataka Prant, Kempegowda Vibhag, Hebbal Nagar organized a Guru Purnima celebration with great devotion and enthusiasm on 29th July 2026 at Sharada School, Amruth Nagar, with the participation of 65 students and staff members.

The programme commenced with a prayer, followed by an informative session on the significance of Guru Purnima. The participants were introduced to the importance of the Guru in Indian culture and the vital role that Gurus play in guiding, inspiring, and shaping the lives of individuals.

The participants then enthusiastically practised Guru Namaskar and joined in Bhajan singing with devotion, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere. The programme concluded with the chanting of the Shanti Mantra.

The school management and the Principal appreciated the initiative and expressed their happiness over the meaningful programme, acknowledging its role in instilling respect for the Guru tradition and promoting Indian cultural values among the students.

Yoga Classes Initiated at Sharada School by VK Hebbal

As a follow-up to the International Day of Yoga 2026 celebrations, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Karnataka Prant, Kempegowda Vibhag, Hebbal Nagar, has successfully initiated regular yoga classes at Sharada School.

The yoga sessions are being conducted twice a week, every Wednesday and Friday with the objective of promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, concentration, discipline, and holistic personality development among the students through the systematic practice of yoga.

A total of 130 students are participating in these regular yoga sessions. Around 55 students from Classes 6 and 7 attend the sessions conducted on Wednesdays, while around 75 students from Classes 8, 9, and 10 participate in the sessions held on Fridays.

The initiative has received an enthusiastic response from the students and support from the school management. Through regular yoga practice, the programme aims to nurture healthy habits, improve focus, and contribute to the overall development of the students.

First Weekly Veda Class Conducted at VK Hebbal

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari Karnataka Prant, Hebbal Branch successfully conducted its first weekly Veda class on February 8, 2026, at the Vivekananda School of Yoga, Hebbal Kempapura, held between 2:30 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. A total of 40 participants attended the session.

The classes were inaugurated by Pujyaniya Bhakthi Priya Mataji, a renowned saint from the Gangotri Himalayas, in the august presence of Aadaraneeya Lalita Didi, Karnataka Prant Sanghatak, and Smt. Remya Ajith, Vedic Instructor, on 1st February 2026. The classes are being conducted under the expert guidance of the esteemed Vedic scholar Aacharasri M. R. Rajesh ji of the Kashyapa Veda Research Foundation.

Universal Brotherhood Day Celebration at VK Hebbal

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Karnataka Prant,Hebbal Branch organized the Universal Brotherhood Day celebration on 13th September 2025 at VK Hebbal Karyalaya, Coffee Board Layout, Hebbal. The program was held from 4.30 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. with the participation of 83 attendees including Samskara Varga and Anandalaya children, school students who took part in the Swadhyaya competition, well-wishers, donors, and karyakartas.

The program commenced with the lighting of the lamp, followed by a patriotic song and Viveka Vani. Prizes were distributed to the participants and winners of the competitions conducted on 6th September.

The main highlight of the evening was the inspiring address by Shri Prasad Ji, Karnataka Prant Pramukh, Vivekananda Kendra. He engaged the students in a lively manner and shared motivating thoughts on Swami Vivekananda’s life and message. He emphasized that the competitions were held to encourage reflection on Swamiji’s life and teachings, and urged students to take meaningful lessons from them. He spoke about Swamiji’s role in spreading Sanatana Dharma to the West, the far-reaching impact of his Chicago address, and his call to awaken the nation upon returning to India.

Shri Prasad Ji urged everyone to consider Swamiji as a role model in their daily lives—through thoughts, prayers, and actions—in loving the country, standing up for righteousness, and nurturing a deep sense of Bharat in their hearts. He also shared about the Samskara Varga and Kendra Varga, encouraging all to participate regularly to imbibe Swamiji’s spirit. Further, he reminded karyakartas that Universal Brotherhood Day should also inspire them to renew their dedication to the nation and to the Kendra.

The evening was filled with inspiration and enthusiasm, and the utsava concluded successfully with a renewed commitment to carry forward Swamiji’s message.

Visit to Vidyaranya Home by Vivekananda Kendra Hebbal Branch

On August 30, 2025, the karyakartas of Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Karnataka Prant, Hebbal Branch, visited Vidyaranya Home for the Aged and Physically Challenged in Bengaluru. The program was held from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and saw the participation of 50 members.

The visit included engaging activities such as laughter yoga, action songs, games, and yoga sessions. The elderly residents as well as the physically challenged children enthusiastically took part in the activities, creating a joyful and vibrant atmosphere. The karyakartas, in turn, experienced the visit as deeply satisfying and rewarding, reinforcing the spirit of service and togetherness.

International Women’s Day Celebration by VK Hebbal

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Hebbal Branch organized a lecture program on the topic ‘Women's Power’ at Vijaya Vittala Engineering College as part of Women's day Celebrations. 75 students attended the programme.

Hebbal Nagar Sahitya Seva Pramukh Smt. Smita was the Chief Guest for the programme and delivered a lecture on the topic ‘Women's Power’. The lecture focused on the true potential of women, obstacles faced by women and the ways to overcome them. The students participated enthusiastically in the session which concluded on a positive note to Think Big and Achieve Big with courage and confidence. 

Also, Smt. Smita has conducted two Vimarsha programmes for the members of Sevika Samiti on Bhakti Yoga and Karma yoga on two different occasions.
