Rameswaram is getting ready for the inauguration of the grand
memorial for Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam on 27th of July. Incidentally, the
late President initiated the ‘Green Rameswaram’ project on 28th January,
2014. In his address he said “Friends from Vivekananda Kendra have
planned the renovation of the holy water bodies of Rameshwaram. Today
they have renovated decades long abandoned, polluted water bodies. They
have removed the thorny shrubs which occupied the Teertham, they have
removed the putrefied stagnant, polluted waters; they have removed the
liquor bottles and other pollutants that had been thrown into the
Teerthams. Now the pilgrims can visit these Teerthams. This noble task
by Vivekananda Kendra is a praiseworthy service. I congratulate each and
every one of you who participated in this noble endeavor”.
We the members of ‘Green Rameswaram project’ are committed to fulfill
his dream of keeping his native place not only clean and green but also
work in its overall development. In this endeavor, we seek the support
