A series of events will be held in the state from January 2013 to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Some of them are shobha yatra, gramotsav, yuva sammelan and yuva marathon. Different organisations/associations will celebrate the anniversary together.
The Swami Vivekananda Sardhshati Samaroh Samiti (SVSS) on Sunday announced its plans for the year.
A grand celebration will be held from January 12 to February 12, 2013. State convenor of SVSS, Bhargav Bhatt said, “We will have a grand shobha yatra on January 12 in the entire country where people from all communities will participate.”
On Sunday, SVSS announced that Kantisen Shroff from Bhuj was its new president for the state samaroh. Gruhsampark Abhiyaan will be carried out in the state from January 15 in which SVSS intends to reach out to all the villages and cities of the state and distribute photographs of Swami Vivekananda to all households.
“Around 25 lakh households will be covered under this programme,” added Bhatt.
Bhatt said seminars, yuva sammelans and a yuva marathon will be held as part of the celebrations. “Also, young girls will be given physical training too and a kabaddi competition will be held in different parts of the state.” A special medical camp for tribals has been planned in September 2013.
Yuva sammelans, shobha yatra and gramotsavs will be held to mark the occasion.
