World Environment Day Celebration at RT Nagar

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Karnataka Prant, Kempegowda Vibhag, R.T. Nagar Branch, observed World Environment Day on 5th June 2026 by organizing a sapling distribution and environmental awareness programme. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 93 participants, including 83 students, 8 teachers, and 2 karyakartas.

The highlight of the celebration was the gracious contribution from honorable Padma Shri Awardee Dr. Susheelamma of Sumangali Seva Ashrama, who presented 50 saplings to Kempegowda Vibhag Pramukh, Dr. Bharath Ji. These saplings were subsequently distributed to the Government School in Manorayanapalya, where the teachers and children expressed overwhelming joy and gratitude. Underscoring their continuous commitment to the environment, R.T. Nagar Karyakartas also actively maintain the school's terrace garden.


uring the event, Dr. Bharath Ji delivered an inspiring address, enlightening the students on proper plant care and motivating them to extend this green initiative by planting saplings at their own homes.


The successful and inspiring program concluded on a serene note with the chanting of the Shanti Mantra.

World Environment Day Observed with Sapling Plantation at Mysore

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Karnataka Prant, Chamundeshwari Vibhag, Mysore Nagar organized a meaningful initiative to celebrate World Environment Day on June 5, 2026. The event saw the active participation of 8 Karyakartas from the Mysore Karyalaya.

In alignment with the environmental vision of the Kendra, each participant took a Sankalpa to contribute towards a greener planet, translating their pledge into direct action by planting saplings along the roadside. This initiative marked a small step towards strengthening their commitment to community welfare, environmental sustainability, and fostering a shared responsibility for nurturing nature.

World Environment Day Drawing Competition Held at Shimla

On World Environment Day, June 5, 2026, the Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Uttar Prant, Himachal Vibhag, Shimla Branch organized a vibrant drawing and painting competition for children centered on the inspiring theme, “Inspired by Nature - For Climate and Our Future”. The event, which successfully brought together 10 young participants, blended artistic expression with cultural values as the children also enthusiastically, sang patriotic songs.

The primary objective of the program was to instill a deep sense of ecological responsibility in the younger generation. To achieve this, the discussions and activities focused heavily on encouraging the adoption of sustainable daily habits, such as minimizing the use of single-use plastics to protect local ecosystems. Furthermore, the session stressed the vital importance of conserving water and saving energy both at home and at school, empowering the young participants to become active stewards of the environment.

To honor their creativity and spark a lifelong journey of character-building, all the young participants were presented with inspiring books on Swami Vivekananda.

Smt. Punita Sharma, Amrit Parivar Pramukh and Smt. Neeraj Sharma, Shimla Nagar Pramukh, coordinated the event. The program concluded as a meaningful step towards fostering environmental consciousness among young minds.

World Environment Day Celebration by VKV Kallubalu

Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Kallubalu (in Karnataka Prant) celebrated the World Environment Day at the PT Usha Ground on Friday, June 5, 2026. The event aimed to create robust awareness about environmental protection and saw an enthusiastic participation of 320 attendees, including 290 students and 30 staff members.

The event was graced by esteemed guests, including Chief Guest Smt. Rajashree Didi, alongside Sri Virupaksha ji and Mananeeya Pranati Didi. In her address, Smt. Rajashree Didi emphasized practical eco-friendly habits such as avoiding plastic, segregating waste, and practicing the principles of reusing and recycling. Echoing her sentiments, Sri Virupaksha ji and Mananeeya Pranati Didi spoke passionately about the importance of individual accountability and active nature conservation.

The celebration featured vibrant student performances, including an inspiring geet (song), Vivekavani, and an impactful skit that highlighted the necessity of integrating environmental conservation into daily life.

The meaningful program concluded on a proactive note with a sapling plantation drive led by the guests, teachers, and students, followed by a collective pledge dedicated to maintaining a clean and green planet.
