This year we are celebrating the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji on 12th November. Guru Nanak Jayanti, or as it is commonly called, Guru Nanak Gurpurab, is a Sikh festival which is celebrated with a lot of fervour and excitement in many parts of India and the world by Sikh and Punjabi communities in particular and Indians in general.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji has spoken a lot about environment and interconnectedness of man, animal and nature. Eco-Sikh movement is the outcome of his philosophy and perhaps Sikh community was the first to start eco-pilgrimage network. We the workers of Green Rameswaram project also received the inspiration for starting our work on “Green Resilient Rameswaram” from this network.
