Guru Purnima Celebrated with Gita Sloka Recitation Competition at Nagole

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Telugu Prant, Hyderabad Vibhag, Nagole Branch, celebrated Guru Purnima with a Gita Sloka Recitation Competition at Snehapuri Colony on July 25, 2026, at 4:00 PM. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation across age groups, with 10 children below 5 years, 12 children aged 6–10 years, 18 youth aged 10–16 years, and 6 judges taking part.

The programme commenced with three Omkars, followed by the Shanti Path, eleven Omkar chants, and Pushparchana by all participants. The event was presided over by Sri Arun Goud ji, Sah Vibhag Pramukh, along with the President and Secretary of the Snehapuri Colony Welfare Society. They welcomed and appreciated the initiatives undertaken by Vivekananda Kendra and the women’s wing of the colony.

Addressing the gathering, Sri Arun Goud ji spoke about the practical relevance of the Bhagavad Gita in family life. He highlighted how regular recitation of Gita slokas can help improve concentration among children and enable them to study more effectively. As part of the Amrit Parivar initiative, he encouraged parents to recite two slokas every day, enabling them to complete the entire Bhagavad Gita within a year. He also explained the vision of Amrit Yatra and encouraged families to plan and participate in Amrit Yatra 2027.

The programme received active support from Gita practitioners Kum. Prathusha Hari, Kum. Anjani Krishna, and Kum. Pallavi, along with parents and judges. The event concluded with the distribution of prizes and participation certificates to the participants, followed by the Shanti Mantra.

Shrimad Bhagavad Gita Recitation Competition at Nagole

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Telugu Prant, Bhagyanagar Vibhag, Nagole Branch organized a Shrimad Bhagavad Gita Recitation Competition based on the Seventh Chapter of the Bhagavad Gita on the occasion of Gita Jayanti, with the objective of promoting systematic chanting, understanding, and internalization of Gita teachings among all age groups.

Participants registered online for the event. The programme received an encouraging response from diverse age groups. Participants were categorized into four groups: Group A (5–9 years) with 36 participants, Group B (10–19 years) with 61 participants, Group C (20–30 years) with 4 participants, and Group D (31 years and above) with 65 participants, making a total of 170 registered participants.

In addition, an online competition was conducted for 17 participants, including four participants from the USA and others from outside Bhagyanagar, such as Medak and Godavarikhani. Notably, members of the same family—Sri Yadagiri, Smt. Yadagiri, and their son and daughter—actively participated in the competition, reflecting the spirit of family-based Gita learning.

The programme was conducted from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with arrangements made for tea, snacks, millet java, lunch, and evening refreshments. Competitions were conducted simultaneously in five batches, with three judges assigned to each batch, ensuring smooth and systematic execution.

Sri J. Bhavani Sankar ji, Joint Secretary to the Governor of Telangana, Raj Bhavan, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized that every meaningful journey begins with a single step and encouraged participants to pursue life with determination and honesty, describing honesty as the best policy. Sri B. Nageshwar Singh ji, Gita Pravachak and motivational speaker, congratulated the children and parents for participating and highlighted that such competitions are an integral part of character-building and life learning. Sri G. Sarath Reddy ji, President, Co-operative Bank Colony Welfare Society, also addressed the gathering.

Alongside the competitions, Sanskar Varga was conducted for students, while Kendra Varga sessions were organized for elders and parents, reinforcing holistic learning and value-based engagement. 24 families registered for Bhagavad Gita Kutumba Deeksha.

A total of 170 participants, along with their family members, Karyakartas, donors, and well-wishers, took part in the programme, making the Geeta Jayanti celebration a meaningful and inclusive spiritual event.
