Wolfgang Sachs is an author and research director at the Wuppertal
Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy, in Germany. He has been a
member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and is a member
of the Club of Rome. He has edited immensely influential book “The
Development Dictionary”. In this issue, we have given a few of his
quotable quotes.
Shri.N.Krishnamoorthi covers the most important topic of
‘Biodiversity’ – the last in this series. The swan exhorts us by saying
“Man is a part of nature and nature is an extension of man. The death of
every animal severe man’s link with nature and cuts a stand in the
grand web of existence. The loss of every plant makes man lonelier,
exposed to greater and crueler risks of loneliness and death”. In
happening section, we have covered training programmes in Bio-manure
preparation, Growth promoters, Ferro-cement technology etc.
In the wisdom section, Prof.Dennis Pirages a co-chair of the board of
‘World Future Society’ highlights ‘Growing ecological insecurity’,
David W.Inouye, Faculty - University of Maryland & President,
American Ecological Society tells us that Biodiversity is at all levels a
heritage and so should be preserved at any cost and finally the famous
writer and a critic of western model of development Shri.Makarand
Paranjpe describes how the entire American civilization is based on
‘Garbage making’. For reading the newsletter.
