Vivekananda Kendra, suri celebrated guru poornima utsav on 2nd august, 2015 at Shri Ramkrishna Sabhagriha. 60 people attended the program. Dr Parthasarathi Mukherjee, the Principal of Birbhum Mahavidyalaya [a degree college] was the Chief Guest, formally inaugurated the programme by lighting pradip lamp. Apart from Dr. Mukherjee, Niranjan Halder, a retired school teacher and Shri Brajagopal Mukherjee, a senior lawyer and Swadhaya pramukh of the Suri branch also were also present.
Dr. Mukherjee told : "A Guru can lead us towards perfection. In our mortal life we are often confused, we can not understand what to do. Guru-parampara is an inevitable part of our tradition. An enlightened Guru can ignite the urge for eternal knowledge among his or her disciples. We must respect our Gurudevs." He also added that absence of respect often cause trouble in educational institution. Shri Halder explained the significance of the symbol "Om". "This Omkar dhwani elevates our body and soul. By chanting Om we can attain unearthly bliss." he told. Shri Sinha who presided over the programme told about the activities of Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari. The programme was conducted by Saha-Sanyojog of Suri branch, Shri Paritosh Hazra. Smt Mala Das, a school teacher performed cultural programme.
